i have a doubt, i wanna install in my portable with a virtual machine and had already intsall opensuse, and i want to use the virtual machine for gaming (in another words i wanna do the excat oposite of teh video xP)
You can either dual-boot XP and some Linux Distro, or you can run XP as the underlying OS (so that graphics intensive games will play fast) and run one, two or five Linuces (plural of linux) using Sun xVM Virtuabox.
I have Vista64 Ult and Ubuntu 64 8.10 dual-booted on my desktop... but I also have openSUSE 11.4 and PC-BSD and XP (which I use to run non-game 32bit programs that don't like Vista64) as guest OSes using Sun xVM Virtualbox (which is free)
Like runfromnuke said, with modern computers it really just comes down to personal preference. I have a screaming fast desktop, loaded to the gills with RAM, and I still prefer GNOME.
Can you give me some more detailed instructions or some resources on how to do this. I've been loading opnSUSE 11. in VBox but I'm not sure how to install it. Do I need the DVD (larger version) or stick with the livecd one? Once installed, can I dual boot or can I only run it from virtualbox?

I detest opensuse, too slow. Ditto with Solaris.

That would suck. You want games to run on the naked host machine... for speed. Unless you're talking about a checkers game or solitaire etc...

thanks, cuz i want to change to linux but there are still games that i want to play native only to windows :P
which options do i have?

You sure it's 11.4? They only just finished 11.2 Milestone 2 so sure ly you mean 11.1?
Hoddersrevenge 2 years ago
Hmmm... that's weird. It was whichever one was new when I posted that message. I haven't a clue why I wrote 11.4.
I've long since dumped both SuSE and PC-BSD. Now, it's just XP and the Jaunty Jackalope running on Vist-64 Ultimate SP2

They both are similar, but I prefer the gnome
zeldaparty8 3 years ago
I forgot to mention this:
Gnome is more similar to mac, while KDE is more similar to Windows. They both work fine and I think a windows user can use Gnome perfectly fine.

Thanks.

@zeldaparty8
No...Windows is a fork(full copy) of KDE!!

GNOME is a little faster than KDE ?!
somebody, please explain...
hoods2009 3 years ago
GNOME is less graphic-intensive.
It's all a matter of preference really. I prefer using Beryl of KDE, but many of my friends prefer GNOME.
"zeldaparty8" hit it on the head though.

what size was the virtual disk you created?
Rhodeni 3 years ago
I started using 8GB for this demo, it should be enough for my purpose. Linux desktop maximum took around 3GB with fresh installation without data.
