@Digressor666 Everybody knows how talented Soko is. What people are frustrated about it is how he's failed to cultivated that talent and he just keeps losing the same way over and over again.
Honestly I saw a interview and fedor said he was never in trouble, that's bull shit. That ground and pond was sick , but even the best rogers wouldnever be able to beat The Last emperor.
i agree. Rogers did and is a lot better than i thought, but some people are going around saying Fedor sucks because Rogers is was able to do this and that. hate that kind of talk.
I actually gained even more respect for Fedor because Rogers is a really good fighter and him doing so good is a credit to his ability and Fedor's ability to overcome the broken nose and the GNP to KO him shows how great a fighter Fedor is
fedor had a cut before the rogers fight. thats why it opened up so quickly. to be honest Rogers did well in this fight. but as usual what happens with all the fighters standing infront of fedor. they get cocky and loose concentration. fedor is allways focused and capitalises on the opponents mistakes.
Funny thing was both Lesnar and Fedor got the stopage win on the same round and the same time also the dates were reversed. Lesnar stopped Mir Round 2 1:48 seconds on 7/11 and Fedor stopped Rogers Round 2 1:48 on 11/7. This is starting to become a prophetic event!
Can't blame the field of play, Roger's did a good escape, he got out of a kimura too. Rogers worked alot on his ground defense and it showed, he was able to use his size and strength way more effectively than alot of Fedor's other large opponents
agreed on the kimura and the fact he did better than say Hong Man Choi, but the reason Fedor was unable to get a tight armbar was because he was used to have more free space.
I like the review but I don't understand why everybody points out Brett's highlights and nobody mentions Fedor destroying him in his own game(punches) almost getting him KOd in first round, outwrestling him on the ground completely, 3 submission attempts, AND ALL THAT while being kneed in groin 3 times(one of those times was VERY hard)
Bell saved Brett and then he was KOed, I really don't see how somebody can give a first round to Brett.
Fedor clearly won both first round and second of course.
Yes that is a good explanation, but I am just shocked at some people's decision about 1st round, not about being impressed with Brett, heck I am very impressed with him, after all the guy is 120+ kilograms striker, he has to be impressive.
but fedor was just faster on that knockout exchange. fedor waited for rodgers to swing and simply beat him to the punch. reminded me of when rashad evans knocked out liddell by beating him to the punch. rodgers wasnt out cold but he didnt know where he was. good stoppage.
Good stoppage and amazing punch by Fedor, he threw his whole body weight into it and landed flush on Roger's chin, great KO. However the mistake Roger's made was having his hand low the whole time, not tight like they were the whole fight. Fedor hurt him a couple times and Brett covered up and not get his so square but he got tired and sloppy that last time and walked into the Falcon Punch
yeah people were saying how did he have power in his punch if he didnt cock his arm back far? like many great strikers fedor puts his whole body into it. like fedor's ko of arlovski.
maybe rodger's hands were low in anticipation of a takedown. but the key is fedor waited until rodgers started throwing the punch(most vunerable time) to beat him to the punch and get the ko.
i think rodgers biggest mistake was not keeping a good jab going. that jab broke fedor's nose right off the bat.
What really impressed me was how accurate it was, I mean he threw EVERYTHING into it and landed perfectly just kissing Rogers on the chin.
Rogers was just tired, he got lazy and didn't reset his hands right after disengaging and adjusting his trunks, Fedor saw the opening, got the range and BOOM!
but yeah, keeping his distance with the jab and using that size would have kept him upright alot longer
i cant wait until fedor fights overeem. i think overeem has the best chance at beating fedor.
he is 6'5. very strong. very fast. and most importantly he is an amazing k-1 kickboxing fighter.
in fact this december he is fighting in the k-1 kickboxing final. and he is favored to win it. fedor cant outstrike a k-1 kickboxer, much less a k-1 kickboxing CHAMPION.
i just wonder how long until that fight everyone wants to see takes place.
I haven't seen the new HW version of Overeem cept for that boring Cro Cop fight. When I think of AO I see the guy that got destroyed by Chuck and SHogun
well overeem was dominating crocop in striking and on the ground.
then crocop curls up and claims he was kicked in the nads and cant continue.
i think crocop knew he was outmatched and outclassed by overeem so he wanted to get the no contest. its a crime that dream gave crocop the no contest to avoid the loss.
@signboyy bet your money on overeem? i gues you do not have much money if any. Some say Lesnar, others Overeem etc. Fedor is the BEST, every loser in life can,t stand to see a real WINNER. Fedor is in a class of his own, He will retire UNDEFEATED.
i think a fedor/lesnar fight would be good too. i dont WANT to see fedor lose i just like seeing good fights. and overeem vs fedor would be a good fight.
dont be such a fedor nut hugger. try to have some objectivity.
i respect you're opinion. but i think the jab didn't work in the second time when fedor almost knocked brett out in the first round. fedor dodged the jab and hit him with his left fist.
fedor didn't break anything in this fight. fedor he himself said it in the interview. and all this talk about rogers, this and that, is pointless, because fedor knocked him out.
sokoudjou surprised when he reversed takedowns and swept mousasi a few times. i think his ground game has improved.
i liked the shields/miller fight but i know bjj pretty good. most fans dont know bjj and were bored.
silva needs to learn to finish fights. he could have finished werdum in the first round.
i was on the edge of my seat for the fedor/rodgers fight. rodgers was exploiting his reach advantage with a jab which bloodied fedor's nose and seemed to be fedor's equal on the ground
yeah sokoudjou's cardio is an issue. its the easiest to change though, just a matter of running consistently. he definately has the technique and power, he just needs to put the work in on his cardio and he would be unstoppable.
like a good chess match there is some repetition in the responses to the opponents moves. it just shows how cerebral miller and shields are and how they dont resort to desperation moves. i can see how it bores people but i love chess and that kind of cerebral fighting
I do not think that Fedor has evolved, he just improved a bit on his takedowns. He still has the same weaknesses that he had against Arlovski. It's only a matter of time til someone finally catches on to Fedor's weaknesses. Brett Rogers didn't do what I thought he'd do which was to keep the pressure on Fedor. Fedor actually held himself pretty OK in the cage even though it was his first time. I did notice that he wasn't against the cage when he scored that KO like he did in the ring.
Arlovski wasn't as effective as it appeared it was. Those punches by AA were mostly glancing blows. No Fedor hasn't changed awhole lot but the thing is he's smart enough to adjust to what his opponent does and find the openings he needs to do what he does best. If he keeps fighting yeah he'll lose, everybody does even Fedor. But hes at the top of the heap and that's impressive
his always had the take downs. what surprises me is his stand ups. watch fedor's stand ups in the past, it evolved so much. and i think the fight depends on the opponent. fedor adjusts to his opponent very effectively. and the funny thing for this fight is that fedor beat rogers in his own game. just like he does for all the other fighters.
He has not improved hhis stand up at all, he just simply saw the opening and timed his punch well. He hit Rogers with the same punch he hit Arlovski with. Also, Rogers was able to get top position, pretty damn impressive for someone who has no wrestling nor BJJ. Fedor is too easy to control for Lesnar, especially in a cage.
Fedor is not the king of MMA, you Fedor nuthuggers are full of it. He's not the king until he comes to the UFC and starts beating everyone there. I'm not naive enough like you nuthuggers to give him such a title so easily just be beating B level heavyweights U__U Fedor will get destroyed in the UFC. Rogers got on top of the guy and HE doesn't even have wrestling or any sort of ground game! He just trained his ass off a bit from the bottom just incase he would end up there. So imagine Lesnar
the only reason why rogers ended up on top of fedor was when fedor went for kimura.if you understood fighting at all you would understand that when you fail to finish a kimura atempt on a guy(strong 280 pounds) you can get reversed.brett realy surprised me with his reaction to kimura atempt.that was the perfect time to try to reverse and that shows he does know what he is doing on the ground.if fedor wanted to stay on top of brett and just pound on him without subbing atempts,he could have
impressed with a 230 pounds guy throwing a 280 pounds with judo trips?you think lesnar would avoid those?bret has much faster hands and better overall stand up then lesnar so he would get ktfo by fedor as well.lesnar doesnt posture up like rogers to ground and pound.he does those retarded hammer fists that wont get you anywhere vs fedor.fedor is not frank "pussy mir".mir was pounded by vera.freeman,de pano, cruz and lesnar the same way.he could not do shit to 50 year old randy on the ground lol
He didn't exactly trip Rogers, he went for a wrestling takedown, and Lesnar did not finish Mir off with hammerfists, it was right hooks coming at Mir's face from under his arm. Those were winded up punches too. Rogers was on TOP of Fedor, and Rogers is not even a fricking wrestler, Lesnar gets ontop of Fedor, and Fedor will catch ZzzZzs as soon as a few solid shots land to his chin. Couture was able to get up from under Brock because he has the wrestling to keep guys off him.
mrultimatetko,am not gonna insult you anymore.even though you are proven hater of the chubby legend.emelianenko when he fought rogers,he threw his right hand then his left hand followed by trip in the same motion.that was his first attack in the fight.he does that well and thats how he managed to toss brett to the ground.watch that in slow motion.watch were his leg is when he throws rogers.fedor is the only guy that Hw that can improvise this.being a good wrestler is not gonna prevent that
frank mir tried to grapple with a stronger man and gain a wrist control.that was retarded decision.he never tried to scramble out when he had a chance.he is not strong and nowhere near explosive as emelianenko.his bjj is overated.but most importantly,he folds like a pussy soon as he gets a solid shot to the face.vera, freeman,de pano, cruz and lesnar tkoed him.what does that tell you?fedor is along with nog the thoughest guy around.he can take beating and still ktfo his opponent.
brock is a strong wrestler and a powerfull man.but thats really all he has.his randy fight was dead even till that behind the ear ko.brock looked gassed at that point.he was very lucky that he landed that punch, otherwise it would be a big problem if that fight went to 3rd round 4 lesnar.there is a reason why randy said that fedor would tear brock up after couture fought lesnar.i never predict whats gonna hapen when people fight.you never know in this sport.all i know- never bet against fedor
People talk shit on Sokodjou, but he isn't that bad. He's KO'd Rogerio Nogueira and Arona. The Gegard fight wasn't as one sided as people lead on.

i dont think it almost knocked out rodgers.
but there is no denying fedor is a faster puncher. its why beat rodgers to the punch and got the ko.
that being said rodgers had a reach advantage and obviously a very strong jab if he broke fedor's nose with it.
i think if rodgers kept up with that strong jab and used more movement to avoid fedor's counterpunching the fight may have ended up differently.
