I don't know what it is and no matter what style of music you like there is something about Matt Munro's voice that just draws you in and you can listen to him time and time again and always listen some more. That takes something very special indeed ! I favour 60's soul and reggae but Matt just had something else.

@MrChrisBman Matt didn't have Phil Spector. That's what made Hatfield's version classic. While Spector ended up all messed up, there was a time when he was visionary in music.
When I visit UK I always think of Matt Munro when in Oxford St and see the No.25 Bus, as this is the Bus Route he use to Drive. He was a favourite of mine all those years ago. Lucky we have You Tube now, so we can listen to our Great Singers of the past. Thanks for adding Matt to this page.
I love Matt but this song is Bobby Hatfield's. Closest I ever heard with passion is Tom Jones. Manilow did great as well but the edge was not there nor is it here with Monroe. However, no one can touch Matt on Walk Away.
Sorry to be a wet blanket but the original 1955 version by Al Hibbler has to be the definitive. Lots of good covers since - Elvis, Ricky Nelson and Roy Orbison are pretty near the original, if a bit white ! Tom Jones - yes. Avoid U2 and Robson and Jerome versions.
Not sure that Mat't does a good job with this song: not enough feeling in his voice and he seems to be going through the motions. But it's a very hard song to get right.
