@PTR01981 while i agree that black metal was never really initially satanic ( focused more around nordic paganism) and immortal absolutely takes themselves less seriously than a band like behexen for instance, this specific song is not a black metal track.. wasn't written that way. if you want to hear immortal play actual black metal i'de suggest taking a listen to pure holocaust. that said it doesn't seem like you're all that into black metal to begin with. not a criticism just my 2 cents

As I agree that this song isn't very like black metal, it still does have a lot of elements of it. The growl and the lack of regular verses or choruses is still there, but the guitars are played differently to black metal. But that doesn't immediately mean that the song isn't black - no artist that isn't narrow minded makes regular, perfect music for it's genre. After all, why ?

Sure, this isn't black metal. But how the fuck is it "false"? It is what it is, Immortal never meant to pass this off as "black metal". They just created what they thought would be the most beautiful medium to convey their ideas, nothing more. Why does this bother you? Did you actually expect them to limit themselves out of some arbitrary commitment to sounding "kvlt" and "trve"? Hah! That would've gotten old real fast.
