I play junior B hockey, the biggest fucking goon league in North America, and from my experience in both hockey and lacrosse, I feel a lot more pain in lacrosse than hockey. In Lacrosse, they allow cross checking, and I've been cross checked in both sports and it hurts, but it obviously doesn't happen that much in hockey since it's against the rules.

Some hockey hits do hurt, but most of the time you just bounce off the boards, so the boards absorb most of the impact. But, have you ever been cross checked in the kidneys or ribs, it hurts like hell even with the pads there. Plus a lacrosse ball is just as hard as a puck and it can be shot at speeds equivalent to hockey.
