  • My s60 was a rolling fortress until the starter light wheels and my aftermarket rim started fucking up

  • good даже колесо не заклинило!!!!!

  • The mirrors didn't go flying off, either!

  • Yesterday this model of volvo saved my life, If it hadn't been volvo, nobody would had survived in the car, that's why I would like to thank all constructor and engineers of volvo for their GREAT WORK in improving safety!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very Good!

  • DID THE WINDSCREEN EVEN CRACK?!?!?!?!

  • @PS3Freak51 why would you 'hate" it, has it raped you in the ass or something?

  • @86kinky86 ahauhahauahauhauhau. good.

  • i dont like lexus becouse its allmoust toyota. volvo its very good in crash test but go look dodge challenger crash test its good.

  • VOLVO for life!!!!! Best Car there is;-)

  • Was one of the dummies texting?

  • Fake, the Volvo would have gone through the concrete block exit through the wall of the building. And would have stopped when it had reached China.

  • VOLVO IS THE SAFEST CAR IN THE WORLD....AGREED. IT'S BEEN TESTED BY IIHS, EUROCAP, AND NHTS. IT'S A TOP PICK FOR ALL THREE TESTING SITE'S.

  • @wheeliehome what is ment was what alexandergre said, which is basically it shows how safe the car is when you run into a wall, not a chevy suburban on a highway doing 60km/h to 100km/h

  • @alexandergre in crash tests, like thats on, its the car against a berrior thats not moving, when most frontal crashes are smaller cars vs bigger cars, the bigger car will win, and normally when theres a frontal impact crash in real life, the other car is moving in the opposite direction making the force of impact greater

  • @speeddomon407kmh the bigger car will not always win. it depends on design of both cars

  • how come they always have the windows down?

  • Look at the airbag just patiently wait for the dummy. Awh (:

  • Only one airbag deploys because there is no one in the passenger seat to trip the weight sensor. You have to be over a certain weight for the airbag to safely deploy.

  • probably drive that away! haha

  • the tire is still ok! thanks volvo

  • what the?? a 2004 crash test is testing a 2009 car??

  • @ToInfinity1 how is it a 2009 car?

  • @wheeliehome lol title misunderstanding... mb

  • @ToInfinity1 This car is not a 2009 model. It is the 2004 - 2007 model range. In 2008, they updated the models to a newer design and still keep that design today. What I don't understand is why the IIHS won't crash test the 2008 - 2011 models seeing that they are much more different than the older models, such as the one in this video.

  • Sad this is, it has a " acceptable " side and roll over rating. I own a 2010 Volvo XC60 and I feel very safe in it. I love knowing that if I ever was to be in a car accident, there is a low risk I would get hurt ..

  • volvo-because life couldnt get more boring

  • отлично даже стекло целое осталось.

  • 1 airbag? oO

  • I wouldn't be afraid to sit in place a dummy ^^

  • VOLVO is the best, well done!!

  • When a car can take a hit from Chuck Norris fist its a safe car.......

    -There are no safe cars

  • I have a 2009 titanium grey S40. Stylish not posh outside, feels like a well built tank on the inside. Volvo for life.

  • Only one air-bag?

  • @ckarwing sensor seats

  • @ckarwing I'm pretty sure the other one is switched off. How can a volvo have one airbag?!? Horrendous comment.

  • volvo have always been passionate/pervasive about (holistic) safety and people, certainly before stars became a mainstream buying/selling point. i wonder what other car companies (governments?) are taking safety seriously and splashing cash above and beyond certain controlled crash tests. lest we read too much into these tests - dig around, get informed, know your priorities. volvo for life.

  • The Acura MDX is the safest passenger vehicle. This Volvo compares poorly with cars around the same price in crash tests. Lots of cheaper cars do better in crash tests than the S40.

  • @surethang27 hahaha your funny

  • @ryanirocz3 It's true. The Subaru Impreza and new Hyundai Sonata are two examples of much cheaper cars with better crash tests.

  • @surethang27 What you don´t seem to realize is that a cars safety is not just depending on the passengers safety inside it , it also have to be safe in that matter that you must not cause to much damage on what your hitting(human, other car). Your japanese exampel is a car that I´d rather hit with my S40 , than being hit by. And I´ll bet "Lots of cheaper cars " also are alot bigger. But in your country , were a car that weighs 4 tons and is big as a church , is considered as "safe" , well.. LoL

  • @surethang27 Maybe because it was released in 2003-2004 and the replacement car is here (s60/v60).

Volvo and Mercerdes got the worlds safest cars and Saab isnt that far behind!

  • @surethang27

You are simply wrong. Look over the results and you will see.

  • @SkagSig40 What am I specifically wrong about? I have looked over the results extensively.

  • I love my 2009 Volvo S40 ! I feel very safe in it.

  • nor the windshield brokes. Amazing!!!

  • not even a crack in the wind shield superbe! A nice looking streamlined car stronger as a ugly buld and heavy american SUV thing

ofcourse it is european tecnology :p

  • they call that good? i give it poor.

  • @Hailey5210 Well I give it really good. You'd walk out of that car merely sore probably.

  • @Hailey5210

Yeah because you are an engineer and know what you are talking about. F off.

  • yeah volvos are the safest cars in the world. I own a 2000 c70 and love it so much

  • holy shit, how did the windshield stay intact? freakin tanks man, not fair

  • @chicoloco341 Thats Volvo - At a frontal crash only the engine block is wracked and the rest can be used in pieces for other cars.

  • The latest news is Communist China or at least a company from that country is buying Volvo from Ford. I don't think I would want to buy a car from a Communist country knowing that the increase in wealth that China will have will in part be used to improve their military.

  • @MrBEB123 absolutely, or perhaps you could stop buying those american related goods and so are other from those which supports the US gov, in order to really protect the poor mideasteners and ourselves, or you could simply go live in the woods instead, that will sure make your point clearer. many thx.

  • @MrBEB123 So, that doesn't mean that Volvo's cars will be affected.

  • @MrBEB123 who gives a shit about commies, as long as ur life is in good hands. numb nuts

  • the truth u.s army in iraq!

    welome to my channel

  • pretty buff car passenger compartment didn't even bend

  • It shouldn't.

  • I'd like to see a crash test performed at 301 km per hour.

  • I would like to see a volvo going a 301 km/h

  • Yeah, mee to! But to be kind of serious for a moment: I'll soon be uploading a sequense of drawings based on a fierce and completely fictional Volvo concept, with the V8 from the XC90 Top model. That one would propably be able to go - well, nearly as fast, if it were a real car.

  • To all those talking about side air-bags:

Every Volvo since 1996-6 has had side airbags in most markets.

I mean, come on, this is Volvo.. not Ford or Toyota...

  • bloody volvo driver

  • I like how all of the body damage immidiatly stops at the front door.

  • @AdrianC12345 Good point.

  • For who said that why side airbags didn't open. You are retarded this crash happened front of the car. Also more airbags more money dumbass.

  • Driving at 40mph feels pretty slow most times. Amazing that so much damage would be done if you crashed.

  • It is amazing. Especially if you consider that in this test it hit a stationary object. Imagine driving into another vehicle head on at 40mph, with the other vehicle going the same speed.

    It's frightening...

  • @Zildjian285 well it wouldnt make a difference damage would be the same

  • ES 2004 NO 2009 EL DEL VIDEO

  • no seas pendejo dice volvo s40 mode 2004 al modelo 2009 !!

  • All Volvos have side air bags. The side bags did not deploy in this test because they did not need to... the dummy was perfectly straight and controlled even during the re-bounce back into the seat; testimony to a well designed car. As far as the driver's legs - even though the car is crumpling up and appears to be "smashing" into the legs, the fact is that the inside cabin remains almost fully intacted - exactly what it was design to do.

  • They unplug the sideairbags in these tests because otherwise you have absolutley no idea how the dummie react in the crash. other wise i would bet it would deployd. it is better that it does than not, you don´t loose anything if it do so why chance. today airbags doesn´t block the door in anyway so its not harder to get out that way, even if it always been that way.

  • Wouldn't your legs be enjured.

  • No side airbags?

  • because it was a frontal collision?

  • 2006 have them for sure i own a s40 and it has the side bags

  • much better than the old volvos

  • Взяли тачку испортили.Лучше бы машину подарили!!!!

  • Try english...?

  • ah just do it the old fashioned way. put a cinderblock on the gas that way itll be more accurate

  • WHATS THE speed in this test ????

  • 40mph

  • 64 km/h.

  • probably 40 mph or about 65 kph.

  • Poor pink man inside

  • ahahah, he is only born like that :P, White man, Nigga's, Pink's :P

  • At 0:53 it is clear that the head did NOT hit anywere...

  • Volvo is great, and SWEDISH :)

Volvo has great safety records, the English police uses Volvo´s too! :P

  • Volvo is owned by Ford and this car is built in Belgium, I guess the badge is Swedish though...

/Swede and owner of four Volvos, all Swedish :p

  • Volvo är fortfarande "svenskt".

    Volvo is still "swedish".

  • SANT = TURE

  • You expect to be in a crash with out being sore?

  • So is that a good crash test because i don't understand anything in crash tests?

For a person who dosent understand anything It looked horrible. :)

  • The Main thing to look for is 1) the cabin that encloses the occupants is not crushed. Specifically look at leg space and whether steering wheel is pushed into the chest...2) ensure the head doesn't impact on anything hard eg dash, pillars etc. Slamming into airbags is OK.

  • Airbags are designed for your head to slam into them, they are surprisingly tough. And this car's f***ing SAFE

  • early airbags had a tendency to break peoples noses lol

  • I think your nose would be fine here. This car's airbag doesn't even get close to the dummy's face as it deploys. Go look at the 2005 Toyota Avalon crash test, that's a newer airbag that can break your nose...

  • volvo is actually the safest car in the world

  • Volvos are very safe.

  • @alexandergre why.. its not the safest in the world.... know why... because its exsist other cars to...

  • @alexandergre german cars like a mercedes, audi vw or bmw are super save too.but volvo is good too.

  • @alexandergre and i got one :)

  • @alexandergre Very obvious too. I think the puppet isn't injured

  • @alexandergre got bought by chinese

  • @alexandergre

fuck Volvo, you need a little danger in your life

  • @alexandergre oh really , believe everything you are told do you , wanker

  • @alexandergre and germans too!

  • @alexandergre Really didnt know that =O thank god i drive one then!

  • Actually, it was really good. Volvo is known for making safe cars.

  • Watch a chinese car going through that test procedure and you will know whats horrible. The Volvo S40 is one of the safest cars in its class.

  • It's a 2004 Volvo, look at the side of the car.

  • I agree...it looked weird, but nothing happened.

  • 0:28 dummy's head hitting the window frame. ouch

  • no it didn't? i can't see it hit the window

  • wow that hit was so violent the rear view door mirror folded O_O, overall Volvo is excellent!

  • Volvo is always the safest car as i know

  • yes..it has 5 stars

  • did the s40's get a 5 star rating?

  • hell ya!

  • front passenger section looked perfect!

  • i kno, not even the doors crumpled

  • like a rock.........

    GO VOLVO'S

  • 60mph is a high standard, and really those forces from high speed wrecks really can't be designed for... economically. Really, most collisions on the freeway occur around 40mph, since people hit the breaks. Also, when colliding into another car, that car is also absorbs the impact, so designing a crash with simulating a brick wall is conservative.

  • They need to start doing these tests at 60mph

  • you can open the door and walk away ... then again, it's only 40 miles/hour or so ...

  • lol those things are like tanks

  • r designed to absorb most impact witout car crushing passengers. actualy designed to crumple.

  • Tanks??? Is a Diamond

  • whips only works in a rear impact & the car decides which airbags to deploy according to the force & direction of impact.

  • Incredible... But a couple of things make me wonder... 1. The WHIPS system seemed out of order? 2. They must have disabled the rest of the airbags... But that might be so they can see what happens to the crash test dummy...

  • yeah there's that airbag curtain that they disabled

  • really safe! nothing even happened to the windshield =O

  • safe car

  • bumu dünyanın en sağlam arabası ??

  • lol depends on how fast your Internet is :P

  • yes you are right at this point, i was posting the comments and then my comments limits got exceed or something then i got owned, but i did it

  • i dont know about safe but it is confortable, confortable it is!But for me the best car is the Audi its a mix it a safe car and confortable and its not THAT expensive

  • Comment removed

  • this car is well safe if it crashed into most other cars it would come off better they just have to crumble to take away the crash force from the passengers

  • they said dat volvo make safe cars , but why does it not look safe ?

  • U tell me, why doesnt it look safe to you? to me it absorbed the crash fine, the cabin kept intact.

  • well , volvo is safe , but check out mazda 2 and chevrolet captiva

  • Haha chevrolets are death traps, and mazda 2? Really...? I own a Volvo and its the safest thing I have ever driven.

  • How in any way does that not look safe to you?

  • checkout mazda 2 , it looks safer

  • i'm not a big fan of volvo, but they are deff one of thee safest cars on the road. they're the first to come up with the safetly lane change alert thingy. even their SUVs are pretty solid.

  • How the fuck does that look unsafe? It stands up perfectly. volvos are still the safest cars on the road.

  • In certain markets, this can happen. Notably South East Asia, South Africa, Eastern Europe, South America. I've also been told if you buy an S40s in certain European markets to double check the VIN/ID etc because some S40s are made as "fleet" cars and lack side airbags etc.

  • why they have to wreck it?!..they could just give it to me:)

  • this is most fuckin' random comment about car crash tests.

  • i doubt hed want it,its probably not driveable(they probably removed all the featured that made it drivable)

  • The Focus and Mazda 3 share the same platform and much of the technology but may lack some of the side impact protection offered on the S40. Still in essence, this car is very good, you see the front of the car absorbed the impact and the safety cell was not breached. Just a word of warning, some markets receive models with less side impact protection, speak to your local dealer.

  • Less side impact protection? I would be surprised if Volvo offered S40's in any market without side airbags.

  • Notice how the damage ends exactly at the front of the passenger compartment. You could drive it off a cliff and walk away from it.

  • As long as you crash it at the same speed as the car in this video.

  • or slower

  • Are volvos really that great like everyone said????

  • Yeah they are

  • what do they say?

  • Volvo's are known for its safety design and said that the windows dont shatter and they click shut when u crash. So they are great

  • and so is a tractor trailer..whats your point?

  • Volvo the best Safely car

  • carajo que buen carro!!

  • no need to talk for volvos.. they speak well for themselves :)

  • well of course volvo r the safety freaks

  • volvos are great cars

  • Bloody hell, who the fuck cares about wing mirrors in an accident

  • Bloody hell, thats right... lol!
