  • "unlike the other ingredients which you find up your ass..." Funny funny

  • Thanks for the vid! That cooked crazy fast.

  • You did a good job of making and explaining this recipe. but my good God why didn't you clean up before you started. I could not get pass all the bacteria in your kitchen. The stove looks like a episode of Hoarders. Clean up your act Steve.

  • @sammiann777 LMAO Brutally honest!!!

  • Do people actually eat food you cook on the stove? Did you wash your hands before mixing? I think you licked your fingers...

  • @MotherLodeBeth The stove was pretty gross, but cmon, he can lick his fingers....he's making his own food. Don't act like you don't lick yours when you are cooking for just yourself ;)

  • Do you know of anything that will cover up that unsavory "wheat gluten" taste that is so common in homemade seitan? I've tried all sorts of seasoning combos and that flavor still comes right through... ruining all my attempts so far to actually enjoy seitan and get off real meat.

  • hehehe looks like the dog missed a few spots on the stove there...

  • Ok, so the sanitary habits aren't so great nor the language but I did get the info I wanted ... word of caution from the little sandwich I just made, GO EASY on the SALT! It tasted really good with barbecue sauce. So when I have time later and can put more effort into it, I know it will be a big hit with the family, licking my fingers.

  • Thanks for sharing...but, uh...You could stand to brush up on your sanitary methods...the dog licking the stove, your pants...your hand as you touch the food..the greasy, stove top....uh, GROSS! I'm just sayin'....but again, thanks for sharing..(puke)

  • loved it! although, maybe, ...feed the dog? looks to be trying to eat the dish towel. ha ha

  • First off "sorry I shop at Walmart" LOL! Ok, normally I would complain but I'll let it slide. Secondly, you're a brave man not cleaning your stove first. Mine looks worse, so I loved it. Thanks for the cooking tips, gonna make this tonight with my teenage daughter. You made it look easy!

  • single man stove top

  • @veesancez I think that's called roommates.

  • very disgusting cooking video, very embarrassing ..

  • your can of greasy is very very unhealthy, to keep heating fats that were allready heated causes carcinogens to form, please do not do that.....other then that vegan props

  • Pfui Teufel >.<

  • Drugs are bad

  • Nice idea but I will def be using fresh oil. Every. Time.

  • I would vote for you for the next Iron chef! Just kidding. I did really like the way you presented seitan in a down to earth easy way to make it. Your voice was nice, easy instructions.Good job, dude.I was looking for an easy recipe and you did it. Thanks. Yeah, clean your stove top, but I appreciate your effort. No body is perfect.

  • I vomited. Blergh

  • WALMART! gross. order that shit online

  • That was so funny! :)

  • ajo is the word for garlic in spanish. :c) thnks for this.

  • Thanks dude! I've boiled seitan before and it was too spongy and not the right texture at all. This sounds super easy to try!

  • I love these seitan burgers, defiantly better than the frozen ones :D

  • LMAO Dude, I loved this. I thought the dirty stove was kinda funny, though. Made me feel like "vegetarian for college students". My only wish is that there were actual measurements b/c I'm one of those anal people that wants to know *exactly* how to make it, but overall good job!

  • quick seitan fix, yummers!!! cute pup too :P cheers for sharing

  • super helpful! thanks.

  • what the hell. That dog is creepy!

  • lol aks to your dog to clean your stove

  • clean ya stove nigga

  • Thank you! I'm one of those people who were intimidated by making wheat meat, but no more! Two things that made me chuckle: "Sorry I shop at WalMart" and "unlike these other ingredients that you find up your ass". Awesome.

  • what a creepy ending.

  • Hey!! Great vid, and an amazing recipe. I buy gluten flour here in Canada from Bulk Barn, a local chain. Really cheap, and does the trick!!!

  • If you boil the gluten mixture (after mixing it with the liquids) it will expand and you'll get a big ball of gluten which you can then slice and fry. You get a lot more bang for your money that way.

  • I'm transitioning to vegan and this has been the easy way I've ever seen to make seitan, I', really exited by this and can't wait to try this recipe out!

  • i watched the whole video thinking "where do i know this guy?" then i got to the end and saw that you were the boogdish guy. my band played with you in allentown a million years ago. great video! i am going to try to make some later on today.

  • Dude clean your stove top - GROSS!

  • aburriiiiiiido

  • the spanish word for garlic is ajo :)

  • I didn't know you didn't have to boil it...I'm gonna try that first chance i get! I wish we could get vital wheat gluten at Canada Walmarts...it's really expensive up here!

  • Good job. I liked the video, I liked your kitchen, and your dog is great. The people who are worried about your "messy kitchen" and dog need to go back to watching Martha Stewart or whatever.

This ain't the Food Network folks.

  • @1968eric Well the thing is...when you're cooking the area around you should be clean. It's not because anyone wants to feel like they're in the Food Network or "wannabe" Martha Stewart. Sure, everyone has a dirty stove-top once in awhile. However, its important to keep in practice cleaning the area around you before cooking. That's all.

I enjoyed the video nonetheless. This was one of the first vids I saw on making seitan this way a while back. Helped a lot.

  • Thx bgdsh 4 da vid! To all the pretentious vegans that must mention his messy kitchen/ correct his grammar- I'm angry tht I'm associated w/ you as a vegan. It's clear that you are vegan to brag to the world tht your're different rather than genuinely care about the plight of factory farm animals. Yearly, there are BILLIONS of animals that suffer miserable lives just to be slaughtered & you have to the nerve to criticize someone who's trying to promote vegan eating? Ur worse than our opponents

  • Get over yourselves... stop going off on the dog or on the fact that this guy hasn't got a naff fitted kitchen. You are all so reactionary. As for the spots on his cooker... who cares? And the dog is really fab!!! But... just be careful with dogs, pans and cookers!

  • Never mind the dirty kitchen what ups with the fucking dog licking everything in sight, including your pants etc.

  • Hahahahaha, I was just checkin that out.

  • dude you got a problem...

  • your dog is adorable!

  • Also I dis-like that name Seitan lol fake meat sound better lol

  • OK first I like to say I like your videos however you really need to keep it clean.. your stove is a very and I do mean very dirty what the hell are you thinking of.. I'm not sure if you are a vegan however.. true vegan do not keep dirty kitchens... but you heart was in the right place lol ,, I'm not trying to but you down man ... just help you .. make more

  • you're an idiot if you think vegans don't have dirty kitchens. there's no such thing as a true vegan, either. you either eat animal products or you don't.

  • So what you are saying is that because you are a vegan and you keep your kitchen clean then all vegans must keep their kitchen clean? You, sir/madam, have a very closed mind.

Also, doing research will not prove if vegans have clean kitchens.

  • Also, the simple fact that you think I am a meat eater shows just how ignorant you are.

  • Ok.. Thanks. Peace

  • Thanks for explaining it, I wanted to make it and I thought it was hard to make and it isn't. Thanks so much for this vid.

  • hello. garlic is ajo, in case nobody mentioned it yet =) we think you are dirty as hell but that makes it funnier. we'll try your seitan soon.

    hooray for vegans!

  • Love the vid man. Hahaha, don't trip on all these people trying to act like their pads are all spick and span. My stove is pretty jacked too. Cheers to fucked up stovetops!!!

  • Dude, I'm glad you made it so simple looking, but no offense, I couldn't eat at your house. XD

  • "unlike these other ingredients that you find up your ass"

am I the only one that caught that?

  • Love your Dog :)

  • Thanks man. Keep it real.

  • Thanks for posting this. I went to Walmart earlier and bought the same brand of wheat gluten intending to make seitan. Then became intimidated about the possibility of screwing it up so came here and found your video. I enjoy the honesty of you sharing the evidence of previous creations with your messy stove. :) Mine looks like that after dinner sometimes too. I generally wipe it off though. :) To each his own. But, it helped tremendously to watch this, so again, thanks!!!

  • Pretty nice, easy prep.

Never seen a dog that licked that much. Your dog is awesome though.

  • 5:18 , i heard that re-using oil is supposed to be quite bad for some reason i don't understand. oh well i like the recipe

  • Great video!

  • Nice bachelor stove ;) But srsly, thanks for the tips :) I've tried making seitan before, and it turned out well, but I'd like to make it better :)

  • Your right. I was thinking of becoming vegan then I saw the stove and said , nope, not for me.

  • as if every vegan's cooker has to be that filthy.. :)

seitan is wicked, so much that we worship it! haha

  • lmfao, that right there was fuckin hilarious.

  • Comment removed

  • This looks waaaayyy easier than boiling first... must try it! Also, you have the cutest dog in the world, that ever lived, on the planet, ever.

  • Thanks for sharing your easy an awesome meat substitute recipe in such a non-threatening way! Can't wait to try it out!

  • Dude, clean your stove top before you film it.

  • You obviously didn't see the onion and wheat bread.

Sometimes we eat things that aren't necessarily "nutritional", but that's ok... you gotta live on the edge every now and again. ;)

  • stop trolling

  • start fapping

  • Nice

  • Vegan cooking made easy. Your also disgusting like me, I like that too.

  • Thanks for sharing! Now I really feel I can try this at home, have been a bit hesitant about how to make it but your video is excellent. Laidback and it makes me happy. :) Thank you!

  • Great video. I had a good laugh and learnt something too!

  • That's a great video. I'm making this recipe, thanks for putting it up.

  • Totally great..you are so natural and that's how people really act in their own homes. Love the dog too..I have six of my own! As for your kitchen being dirty, so what? You're the one eating the sandwich..no biggie..at least it shows you use the stove. Keep em coming.

  • when i first read your comments, i found his kitchen a little dirty too but then i realized, i don't give a fuck about this guy's kitchen. you guys are losers.

  • if your kitchen is always spotless you are either a serial killer or just really boring.

  • holy f@#$k do you clean your stove before cooking?

  • Nutritional yeast is a non-active yeast, meaning it doesn't make your seitan rise - go nuts with it. The more you put in,the better it'll turn out!

  • jesus, people need to shut up about your kitchen, it's not their fucking house! anyway, thanks for the video, i have been buying seitan for about a year premade, and i figure it's time i start making my own so this helped lots.

  • Thanks for making that seitan video and posting. One thing I like about it is how informally you structure it, which is fitting since you are trying to get people to see how easy it is to make seitan. I love that your dog is licking everything in the background and stalking the sandwich in the end. I also love that you didn't clean your stove and just lick your fingers...uh, it's like, hey, welcome to my kitchen, just relax.

  • Nice!

    I liked!

  • His kitchen is surgically sterile compared to mine :)

  • What a dirty kitchen!

  • Your kitchen was extremelly messy, considering the fact that food is prepared there.

  • Nevermind, I looked it up. He didn't wash it cause he used Vital Wheat Gluten.

  • He didn't wash the gluten. Isn't the gluten supposed to be washed? What am I missing?

  • thanks for the demo. it was great. first of all, clean your kitchen! ;-) second of all, dont be ashamed of shopping at wal mart. its really not as bad as some people say.

  • I have tried making seitan in different ways and it always SUCKS! it is chewy whether it's boiled or not.

i tried it this way and it was only slightly better, because i was able to keep it thin this time. i think it tastes awful and the chewiness bothers me a lot. it cannot be healthy at all for your digestive system. im going to make some okra right now because of that lol. anyone have suggestions? i want a tender, easy-to-bite-into texture. but then i guess its wheat gluten for a reason...

  • Hey try out the Veganomicons "Chickpea Cutlets"! Theyre wicked easy, and while it contains gluten, its not made entirely of gluten! Dip them in some agave nectar, and its like their nuggets!

  • i'm just being picky but at 1:11, did you say "make it taste well"? that's hypercorrection and the only way seitan could taste well is if it had its own tongue. to you and me it tastes good, not well. i'm just saying...

  • Excuse me, but in line one did you put punctuation outside of parenthesis? Or capitalize anything?

    Oh wait.

  • i didn't use any parentheses (plural of parenthesis) in line one! were you talking about the quotation mark? the rule is often not applied if the presence of the punctuation mark inside the quotation marks will lead to ambiguity. his hypercorrection ("well" for "good") reminds me of people who say "between you and i" instead of "...you and me" or "whom is it?" instead of "who is it?"

  • Whoops. It had been a long night. I was just messing with you anyway; I really don't care.

  • Try some capitalization if you're going to be a grammar nazi NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD.

  • Yum! You made me hungry.

  • that was funny. thank you!

  • Thank you boogdish. I don't know why you used Spanish but garlic is "ajo" (pronounced "aho") and garlic powder is 'ajo en polvo". It made a nice detail.

  • That was easy. I have dry glutten at home. I don't want to go into the "how to make gutten" thing, because I don't have the time sometimes. Thanks!

  • Dude, you made me laugh out loud because your stove looks like mine, and then I saw your dog licking food off your pants and it cracked me up even more, and I am at work! Thanks for the how to and the laugh!! looks great..

  • SATAN!

  • what is the price of 500 grams of seitan in a supermarket?????

in italy is about 4 euro(3$)

  • I just ate seitan for the first time today...I bought it and it came in the little vacumme sealed package...it was good though. I should try to make my own i suppose. Thanks for sharing this.

  • This was awesome, I only knew how to make seitan in big batches. This will sure come in handy. Thanks.

  • Hey, thanks for sharing. I've been a vegetarian for 10 years, and hadn't heard of seitan, mostly because I just started making "meat" alternative dishes recently. Thanks again!

  • Doesn't look too healthy with all that grease. Here is an excellent website on seitan: veganlunchcastDOTcomSLASH2006SLASH05SLASHvegan-lunchcast-tutorial-how-to-makeDOThtml

  • Thankyou its very useful bc im starting vegan

  • Of all the nice things I had to say about your video, you pick a construtive judgemental remark to get hissy about. You're quite arrogant, and for no apparent reason I might add. You're right, I shouldn't tell you how you want to appear. But I CAN tell you how you DO appear. You appear to be untidy, and unclean. Your stove is filthy.

  • boogdish is the man. you're a conceited bitch.

  • Your dog is adorable :)

  • I agree with jonzornow.

You need to clean the stove and straighten up a bit. The world is in your kitchen, and you don't want to appear as untidy. Actually I feel at home in your kitchen because its real. It looks like MY kitchen!

Thanks for the seitan lesson. I tried making it with hard flour kneaded under running water then boiled in broth. It always turned out like rubber!. I think I can make it your way. Im a Veggie and will run to Wal-Mart tomorrow! Seitan snacks for Super Bowl Sunday!

  • I'm glad that you enjoyed the lesson. Don't tell me how I want to appear.

  • Gluten is rubbery, full stop. There are lots of different ways to kind of manipulate the texture (boiling, deep frying, baking, steaming, boiling wrapped in cheesecloth, baking compressed in foil like a sausage... )

  • Great video, I'm gonna try to make some later today! You should probably clean your stove, though.

  • Thanks so much! I didn't realize it was so easy!

  • That looks so yummy and easy. Thanks for the video!
