Not an avid fan of the ae86, but I love some of it's attributes. Making that clear just so you know I'm not biased, I do know imports have an important, if not the best place, in drifting. The thing is, if you've seen drift competitions, you've probably seen some muscle cars winning competitions, against imports.

American cars are part of what made our economy buying imports is part of the reason why our economy is in the shiter. granted American cars have been behind in quality for many years, but right now, American cars are a very good buy and are made with better quality than some imports. i own an IS300 and a Mustang and they are both great cars, but i do find myself in my Mustang a lot more these days... 305hp 30mpg that's American!

Drifting is'n the same with a American car, because the japanese cars is'nt that heavy in the rear, It is a lot of differens between driftin a amcar, and a japcar, lets think a nissan 240 sx and a Mustang, the mustang is heavy, and the 240 sx is lighter than the Mustang, i simply just know this..

Drift has to do a lot with chassis, and if u do not have a proper chassis car will not drift properly and therefore lose control. Mustang chassis is made for straight line performance, not for drifting. 240sx have a chassis built in such way therefore its one of the if not then best car to drift.
