@ned2one very observant of you. Yes it actually does cause wrist pain. Its actually been rather difficult finding the best placement for these. The specific reason why its angled is because I have to have my bass pedals pretty far away to use my heel toe technique. And so the hihat pedal has to be that far too to match the position on the floor. If i dont angle it i have to reach too far to hit it. I really just need 2 remote hats.
@Dreammotive Might I suggest you put one hi-hat somewhere on the otherside of your kit, and maybe try and work out how you can do Heel-Toe technique without moving your pedals to far away. The other thing I'd suggest is maybe only have one hi-hat and don't use heel-toe technique, cuz it all boils down to comfortability. Otherwise it'll cause long term damage to your body :)
@ned2one Well i cant just change my pedal technique. Heel toe is the only way i can get up to speeds like 250 bpm in this video. Ive worked hard on that and i cant just change techniques. The only real solution if i am going to have 2 hats is to have 2 remotes which may be placed independently of the pedal placement. I know that strain is bad for the body, thats exactly why my pedals are far away. thats the most relaxed position. hands can move easily around the drums so they handle the offset
@Dreammotive I just realised you said "I need 2 remote hi-hats" I thought it said "you have 2 remote hi-hats" which then means my suggestion on moving your hi-hat to other side of your kit won't work... so yeah I'd just not use 2 hi-hats as its not that necessary ^_^
I scream for the band that austin abbot is in, Y'know, that band that will be coming to record(witch we appreciate :D ) and i would love to jam with you and have like a little drum battle thing some time :]
you can check out my drum covers on my channel.
And by the way that double bass is incredibly insane!
That was very enjoyable. Definitely do more of this. I like how you've incorporated all the work you've done on the heel-toe and i'm excited to see how it is fitting into various musical scenarios. I'd like to hear an entire album of video game songs with drums
thank you thats very encouraging. Im working on the next song right now which is from Final Fantasy on original nintendo. Dont know how many i will do yet. I was considering putting together enough for a mini concert and playing live.
