@taxxman23 From what know, Sam knew Bobby and Barbara were getting it on. People used to say Bob spent more time around Sam's house than Sam did. Bob idolized Sam, and probably wanted to "touch" everything Sam "touched". Sam was a player, and he recognized game I guess and chucked it off. He was going to divorce Barbara anyway, and he was going to make major money off Bobby, that is, until he unexpectedly died. I think Bob did this song to Sam...he had to know people would associate it as such.

My thing is, OF COURSE this is related to Sam. Bob HAD to know when he made this song that folk would relate this to his scandelous '65 marriage. Just BE REAL. I don't think Bob ment any harm by marrying Sam's widow...in his naive, 21-year-old mind, I think he really thought marrying her did Sam justice. the marriage lasted 5 tumultuous years. Plus he did Sam's daughter while still married to Sam's wife. It is what it is. Life happens. I wonder what Sam would say about all of this...

This song is true to life....i had a friend i warned about one of his boys coming over his house so much when he wasn't home and he told me i was too paranoid. Long story short.....his boy did his wife one day and he walked in on them and shot the guy. My boy is doing 15-20 for attempted murder in a prison in New Jersey. I wish he had listened to me about that guy. Now his little girl is growing up without her father and his ex-wife said he overreacted....it was just sex and he went too far.
