yes he is supposed to sound that way because he is using a bow technique called ricochet, this is when you bounce the bow to create a more violent sound.
no it isnt, they are one in the same. They get the term "ricochet" from the force of the bow being stopped and "ricochetting" on the string, creating a bouncing effect.
