Hasn't Peter ever heard of difference as principle becomes a threat? The idea that intelligently sentient machines could turn against us isn't absurd in the slightest. Think about it this way: if you create a highly intelligent machine capable of thinking independently that machine will view its creator as the ultimate threat because the creator is in the best position to pull the plug on its existence.

Most people view A.I. as being just like us in thought processes, well it isn't.

It is more like providing instruction sets in how to respond to given variables.

@BeyondDGrave When we have more advanced technology and understand how the biological processes in the brain work I see no reason why we couldn't emulate a brain synthetically. It all comes down to reductionism. Our brain is just a program created by natural selection and we are slaves to algorithms just as computers are, the only difference is our algorithms are represented in biomatter instead of 1s and Os. Also, I strongly suspect that the AI would have to learn for itself, just like a human.

I got rid of my TV set but now they've started putting it free online. The truth is that they want you to see it. The BBC used to charge a tax on television ownership. So, you would think that if you don't have a TV and hence aren't liable to pay their tax, that they wouldn't allow you to see their content? NO they put it on the web for free! Why? Because they want to indoctrinate people with their message, even if they avoid paying the tax. Just indicates propaganda to me.

By way of explanation: The BBC is just a government funded broadcaster (funded by taxation...ie: a tv license which costs around £300 per year per household and there are around 15 million households in the UK) which doesn't carry commercials and hence isn't (supposedly) controlled by corporations.

So, if you have a tv, the BBC send out letters to ask why you aren't on their data base as having bought a license. There is a statutory fine for not paying your license.
