Im a big fan Steff. this book is impressive . I read one other book and now onto the practicall anarchy series. kinda of a slow reader like to analyze alot. Keep getting this stuff out !!
I agree that individuals have no obligation to stay in family relationships that are particularly damaging. But at the same time where and with whom we grew up constitutes part of our identity whether we like it or not, doesn't it? And so it's not so easy to get out of, as if it were simply a contract we were terminating.
But we retain our history even if we no longer see our parents, right? I mean, I remember my childhood in England, although I haven't lived there for 30 years...
Yes, I agree with that. But from my own family experiences I've seen that people can sometimes break all contacts with family members - with whom we share a past and thus a part of our identity after all - a little too easily, over petty issues. After all, living with anybody is difficult and requires work. And we live in a world in which people increasingly want instant gratification rather than working on something. But I agree in cases where the relationship is really damaging.
Hey Stef, the book sound great, but im in Colombia, is there anyway i could get it? There is a Web site here that has like a contract with amazon, and they sells everything amazon sell, so amazon is selling it so i can get it? or are you gonna mail me the book ? :)

For sure, it should never be for petty issues - but then again, of course, who taught the child to be petty..?
