Idra thinks mechanics are the only thing. Sometimes creative play and catching people off guard can over come errors in your own play. Minigun hit a good timing to kill that 3rd and that was it.

Idra screwed up the warp prism by allowing toss to walk right up to his 3rd uncontested and that cost him the game, but man.. minigun played horribly after that. Then again, he had basically won as soon as idra's 3rd died. So meh.

And i'm not quite sure if IdrA will ever change, sure, i have seen games with him simply gg'ing out like every other good mannered player does, but he obviously isn't able to do that all the time. Idra really handled those infestors poorly. There was a lot of poor handling on both sides, but with 10 infestors he really should've been able to do better in that last battle than he did.
what makes me sad about sc2 is that after infestor fix, the only thing op about zerg is infestors. everything else is kindda sad. Idra macroed without getting supply blocked most of the time and microed alright as well as scouted alright and had more bases. just because protoss get a caster at tier one, they abuse it by getting 7-8 of them, they get free kills.
@the1onlynoob This game was lost when IdrA's 4 o'clock expansion went down. He didn't have enough units, and the 2-pronged attack by minigun was extremely well executed. With minigun spending so much on cannons in his natural, why didn't IdrA get a few spines in his 3rd? I don't think the outcome of the game had anything to do with Protoss having a tier 1.5 caster. IdrA simply got outplayed.

Frankly Idra was correct. He outplayed minigun at every step and the FF and 1A from the toss were just too much. When you outplay yoiur opponent then you SHOULD win... seems rather obvious.

When he decided to stick with a roach-ling composition that was directly countered by Minigun's army for much too long? You can't say "Oh, he's a good player, he must have outplayed the other person," because everyone has bad games (and I think this was one of Idra's). I didn't see any particularly good micro or decision making on Idra's part, and they both had about the same macro.

That's imo what won Minigun the game, timing + using the map 2 his adv. If he didn't do something the econ. adv. of IdrA would have stomped him so he had 2 bring a special strat.

Gosh Greg shouldn't have attacked when there were so many sentries backed up by immortals and stalkers and templar. That game should be very helpful for zerg players and protoss players. You can be very cost efficient with your sentries and infestors, you just have to wait for the best moment to use your abilities and not rush your whole army into the meatgrinder. Both players played very well. And please guys... stop picking on Idra, he plays well enough to be respected.
Well i must say im really pleased minigun stomped Idra, i still wouldnt dream of calling minigun a better player but he is certainly playing really well recently, couple of things he could have improved that game but still a very deserved victory. It only worked because he was able to delay both of idras expansions and therefore delay idras defensive force. IdrA was making a round of roaches and lings when that attack came. The timing attack should have hit even earlier but since it didn't, idra felt safe and made his attacking units late. It was BECAUSE minigun was bad that he won.

@yeijie456 i think zvp is actually sorta the most balanced matchup. I feel terran are a bit wild sometimes but the game as a whole is as balanced as its ever been. Idra is just in a slump and i feel that he will break out and dominate again very soon.

Frankly Idra was correct. He outplayed minigun at every step and the FF and 1A from the toss were just too much. When you outplay yoiur opponent then you SHOULD win... seems rather obvious.

@capierce Really? Name one instance in which Idra outplayed Minigun. When he chose NOT to engage Minigun's army when it was out in the open and he could have crushed it? When he decided to stick with a roach-ling composition that was directly countered by Minigun's army for much too long? When he didn't try for ANY sort of counterattack when Minigun's army was way out of position until it was way too late? As far as I can tell, Idra made almost no good decisions this game.

@cdcdx2 Idra took a third that he had to take, not greedy at all. As you should know by now, zerg MUST be 1 base up to stay even. Minigun was not able to apply early pressure since he FFE.
Nothing wrong with Minigun taking out the third, what was wrong is that he was outplayed all game and still won. You might not like Idra but there is no question that he is one of the top 5 zerg in the world.

1)idra's third was a good call, it is essential to take that third against a fast expanding protoss, his army position was horrible, which is why minigun marched right in and force fielded
2) he made the wrong units and didn't control them properly, roach - ling against gateway - immortal is bad, and he didn't utilize infestors
3) he didn't do ANY haress at all
4)no banelings
and so on

@capierce I still fail to see how Idra outplayed him. You can't say "Oh, he's a good player, he must have outplayed the other person," because everyone has bad games (and I think this was one of Idra's). I didn't see any particularly good micro or decision making on Idra's part, and they both had about the same macro.

@capierce I understand being one base ahead, but at 4 minutes was greedy. He knew minigun was fast expanding, he didn't have to be in a rush. Besides, Destiny has shown that Zerg doesn't necissarily mean you HAVE to be a base ahead with good Infestor control and support.

@cdcdx2 Minigun FE so Idra needed to take advantage of it. The most common, and best, way is to take a third base. The other option is a roach all-in. Idra made the correct move.
Anyway, forget about the fast third.... Idra outmicroed and out macroed all game. He scouted correctly and had the proper unit mix... and still lost. That is the problem.

@capierce U just ignore the fact that Minigun came up with a good sentry strat. 2 wall himself in against Idra's reinforcement & shut down his 3rd base. That's imo what won Minigun the game, timing + using the map 2 his adv. If he didn't do something the econ. adv. of IdrA would have stomped him so he had 2 bring a special strat.

@CamNM1991 IdrA played perfectly actually. Minigun just did a weird timing. He got roach speed the moment he had a lair. 4hatch before gas is the most effective way of stopping 6gate timings. You're a moron who thinks nydus worms work every time. This is pro level where protoss are able to see their whole base. IdrA had no units until just after that attack started. That big red moving blob on the minimap was just OL's. IdrA's play was almost flawless. Too bad protoss have an ingame map editer

Gosh Greg shouldn't have attacked when there were so many sentries backed up by immortals and stalkers and templar. That game should be very helpful for zerg players and protoss players. You can be very cost efficient with your sentries and infestors, you just have to wait for the best moment to use your abilities and not rush your whole army into the meatgrinder. Both players played very well. And please guys... stop picking on Idra, he plays well enough to be respected.

Well i must say im really pleased minigun stomped Idra, i still wouldnt dream of calling minigun a better player but he is certainly playing really well recently, couple of things he could have improved that game but still a very deserved victory. As for Idra, im pleased he lost cos zerg CANNOT complain about force fields when they have Infestors, and he didnt even use them well, and then rages at minigun, what a douche!!!!

It only worked because he was able to delay both of idras expansions and therefore delay idras defensive force. IdrA was making a round of roaches and lings when that attack came. The timing attack should have hit even earlier but since it didn't, idra felt safe and made his attacking units late. It was BECAUSE minigun was bad that he won.
