i recall my dad used to bring home fruit pies from a vending machine at work in the late 70s.Not hostess, but "mothers pies",they were dark fried and had no icing, and soo good.I wish they were still available
Us 70's kids ate these and other Hostess stuff all the time and didn't have to worry about getting fat because we were out of the house every day, playing. Today, kids spend too much time on their butts playing video games that never end, and spending way too many hours online and more specifically on Facebook.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@StevenFallonOfficial yes,and even worse, they spend too much time watching jewish-owned mainstream television networks with their pro-race mixing and homosexual filth
@SkibopDaSequel I love the cherry and hated the apple. I used to buy them all the time when I was a young kid. If I can remember correctly they were about 7 cents a piece (1970-1971). I remember it was less than a dime because I would always get change.
As a kid I never thought about the massive amounts of saturated fat and sugar in those...they still taste so good but an apple one of those a day will not keep artery disease away!
@RichHartley19671 Take it easy buddy! Most of us had a great time as kids in the 1970s, and true we probably would have had an even better time in the 1950s, but being a kid today totally sucks by any definition.
Back in MY day, we used to wait for the stagecoach to stop on it's weekly run through town to go visit a fried that lived in a cave 50 miles north....
You know all of the Hostess snacks can still be bought at your local stores. [I love the classic pink coconut Snoiballs(tm, of course!) myself, if you want to know.:-))].
I grew up in the 70's (born in 1963). Today, I live near a high school and whenever I walk by there, every single kid is holding a phone and texting someone. They don't even look where they're walking. I'm surprised all the kids don't bump into each other all the time. I think technology has taken the fun away from kids. Nowadays, kids make friends on Facebook instead of extending friendship to the new kid up the street. It's a real shame. They don't know what they're missing.
Fruit pies, Twinkies, Snowballs, Ho-Ho's, Cup Cakes and Ding Dongs by Hostess were all good. During the Seventies, kids were not concerned about all the nutritional negatives some people are concerned with today. We were kids, we ate and enjoyed. I remember children being fond of Little Debbie's, Moon Pies and Banana Flips. Does anyone remember a chocolate custard-like filling Fruit Pies once had? The late sixties and seventies was a golden time for childhood.

I wonder how many people the Hostess Corporation gave DIABETES too with this garbage. I wonder how many kids also developed obesity because of this poison
Unfortunately while I am not a Marxist I must say that there is no morality or ethics in Capitalism. It is screw or be screwed. Do unto others and post a BIG profit. The Health and Well being of your customers/victims takes 3rd or 4th place.
AND 40 plus years on this crap is STILL being fed to our hapless kids and Hostess is as rich as ever
Anybody remember the comic book ads in the mid seventies. Spider-man, Batman or any other DC or Marvel superhero would trick villains into surrendering them by offering them a Hostess product, either Cupcakes, Fruit Pies or Twinkies. My favorite was "Daredevil Meets Johnny Punk."
In that time, most people only had like 5 TV channels, so you would watch your shows, then nothing else would be on, you get bored and go back outside.
FRUITPIE! ONE OF THE STUPIDEST ADS EVER. A CANNON ON THE TOP OF THE WAGON? WHAT DOES THE FRUITPIES INTESTINES LOOK LIKE? COULD THE KIDS EAT HIM? WHY DOES HE WEAR SPATZ/?
In the 1970's, I used to race home to watch the ABC Afterschool Special. I remember a lot of these old commercials. The 70's were a great time to be a kid because we had freedom that doesn't exist today and we were not slaves to technology. It was a far less sophisticated and complicated time.
@TheBlueyedblond Yeah, but don't you wish we had video phones and video cameras the way they do today? Imagine being able to look back at your childhood in HD. Being able to see your old friends again in 1280P would be nice. But, society has changed for the worse overall. I remember my parents letting me walk 1 mile to school everyday when I was in kindergarten. A parent would have to be insane to do that today.
@ybrik222 she is saying kids now a days are slaves to video games and computers o and don't forget the shitty television now a days the 70s brought wholesome TV watching tv for like an hour and a half don't make you a slave to tv
@TheBlueyedblond I wish I could have been a teen in the 70's...People really are slaves to technology and it is very sickening.I kind of hate technology. The only thing I like to use is youtube.I'm 19 and it can be difficult the way things are and the way most 'teens' are. They're brainwashed by fashion and what's 'IN'...
@kaylawayla23 It was a great time to be a kid. Terrific t.v. shows and Saturday morning cartoons. We worked for our allowance...money was not handed to us. We respected our elders and the police. We could play outside and explore without fear. Parents controlled their children then, now it seems it is the reverse.
@TheBlueyedblond That sounds wonderful.I'm so glad I never had money just handed to me.I thank my parents for not spoiling me.It's made me a good person.I've noticed how alot of children do control their parents. It's aweful. It's so ridiculous how kids can't play without alot of their faces ending up on missing persons flyers.I should be able to go walking without having to carry a knife and pepperspray and everyone else too.
@TheBlueyedblond - that's so true. And we actually played. Playing meant real physical stuff like: tag, ball, rollerskate, hopscotch, whatever; unlike kids today who just sit at computers, play Rock Band and don't have to take P.E. classes from what I hear now. Geesh
@TheZunigal So true! Half the fun was exploring and doing physical things. We used to play in a ravine (!) and a construction site across the street. At no time did my mother say not to....it was totally safe and fun. However, when the street lights came on, we knew it was time to come in. No arguments from us kids, we did as we were told and consequently, my mother trusted us for it.
@TheBlueyedblond Me too! We had actual interactions with our friends instead of "poking" them on Facebook. I remember when the pies looked like this-my mom would buy them at the outlet store for 20 cents each. I wish sometimes I could go back to 1978.
@TheBlueyedblond yeah…and we got to role around the dirt and get really dirty…I have not seen a dirty kid in years, now they wear $100 sneakers and keep them stupid clean..LOL…peace
Well, you can still run down and get a Hostesstm Fruit Pie from any local gas station conveince storre, or any other small sotry ore Grocery storte. Yep, Hostess, snacks, preserving that older era in this time of untimeliless and less freedom.Just costlier..
I live cinnomin( did I spell that right?) apple fruit pies. What I do is get an apple fruit pie, heat it for 30 secs, put in a bowl. Then top it with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sause and cool whip... Only have it every one in a while though cuz it's fattening. But it's crazy delicious...
i wanna know how the heck will he defeat that ghost with a cannon i mean it will just pass and what did those kids and that horse do to get a pie? lol! XD
