The rules today are softer then they were back then. Jordan averaged over 30 pts a game for 7 straight season while taken a beating when driving to the paint! Today you can't look at a player wrong without getting a foul. Sure there's more talent in the game now days since international players have a greater presence in the NBA but the 80s & 90s had to GREATEST PLAYERS EVER to grace the court.
This might be a crazy question, but why hasn't a big production movie been made about Micheal? I guess it would be hard to pick specific moments from his career, but they definetely could come up with something. Maybe the 1998 finals? Then again it would be hard to top that oh so epic piece of film: "Space Jam"
case closed ... jordan always had the goofiest teammates, and still won 6 championships.. lebron was on cleveland with same type of players, cant do it..
he knew he had to join a team with other stars to get it done.. and the heat are stacked this year and still cant do well....!
Think of the great teams that MJ had to go through.. 1. 80's Celtics 2. Bad Boys 3. Show time 4. 90's New York Knicks 5. 92 Blazers 6. 93 Suns 5. 96 Sonics 6 98 Pacers 7. Utah Unreal how many franchises would have titles right now but those Trophies are resting nice and safely 30 miles from my house in the Berto center. All is good.
This is y Mark Jackson doesn't like MJ he couldn't beat him on the court,so he tries to say that Kobe is better than MJ to get back at MJ.He should be fired from his job for making that statement
I believe that defense were better back in the days hence they invented all these rules to help players score more... but then again can't you argue that athletes are more athletics these days and therefore their defense is better too?
Thank you for posting this, games between the bulls and knicks back in the day was the best. I was a Knick fan but u couldn't deny Jordan's greatness.
I am a diehard Knick fan and this is one of the best highlight clips I've seen on Youtube. You have done a great job showcasing Jordan's skill and prowess from a impartial view. I miss this great rivalry and I hope the Knicks can catch up to these present day Bulls and reestablish contention from these proud organizations
u can hear me in the back round saying boo new york booooo booo whos that guy a noone i dont know him lol boooo, THEN BULLS: Wooo Fuk new york Wooo Buls FTW lol
The Celtics didn't play a zone in the 2008 NBA Finals they played basic man to man defense like every other team in NBA history. Even if they did play zone 90% of the time that's still no excuse for Kobe's poor performance.
this is coming from a die-hard knicks fan...my knicks always braced for jordan
pippen was the one cataclyst that always made me cringe watching these games because he used to hurt us in crucial times, and like jordan he did it with an all around game. the knicks always gave em a run for they money though
Jordan is the greatest to ever touch a basketballAnd as for the D arguments, If Jordan had the same rules back then in his prime as they do now he easily AVERAGE 40+He would get 20+ at the line every dam game If you even look like ur going to the hole today u hear the whistle blow its bullshit.back then they KICKED each others ASSES You had to get HACKED b4 u got the cal lAll the great players from the 80-90 would shoot the refs for callin all these bs fouls Rodman wouldnt last a a quarter today
Back then you really saw the best defenses and offensive plays go down, due to the fact that everyone was allowed to play super tough and to the core.
With the current rules it's so stupidly watered down, that you play like a bunch of babies on strollers.
Even in the NFL it's not like what it was in the 80's and 90's. Michael in his Prime was absolutely ridiculous, only those who did NOT see him play when he was at his peak would deny him the #1 spot.
You fucking kobe tool retards. If zone is so good then how can a 40 year old MJ score 40-50+ and average 22 PPG against the defesne now. HUH Power2People. You fucking retard. Damn I want to slap your ass
Scotty Pippen, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquile O'neal, Dennis Rodman, David Robinson, Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler, do I have to go on about how much better the defense was back then?
He's not being pushed or hit like lakers vs celtics 84, pistons vs bulls 91 or bulls vs pacers 98! To argue that it's tougher now is nonesense. Like you said, video doesn't lie. Truth is neither Kobe nor Lebron have been able to get it done against real tough D, whereas Bird, Kareem, Magic, Dumars, Jordan, or Shaq have. Until they can control a final or are unstoppable IN A CRUCIAL GAME, they can't hold comparison to those legends. But they still got time...
Celtics/LAkers in 84. Those Cetic and Lakers teams in the 80s were great but they were not great defensively. Bad Boy Pistons and the NBA in the 90s were the golden ages of NBA Defense.
Everytime I see some fool like U who actually try & insenuate that "defenses are better today than yester year", I ask the following questions, which NEVER seem to get answered by U guys:
How can defenses be "BETTER", when the NBA implemented CHANGES to the "OLD" Defensive Rules to INCREASE scoring from its perimeter players?
"WHY" do guys like kobe score MORE pts under the pseudo-Zone/anti-handchecking/3-sec era of Defensive Rules of we have TODAY, than he did under the "OLD" rules?
@blackadam06 Wow I never knew that there was people stupid enough to argue against that, how the hell can people not see how easy it has become to score today lol.
@blackadam06 Thats easy to answer. THEY CANT ANSWER IT BECAUSE IT DEFIES COMMON SENSE & DOESNT DISREGARD FACTS.
Forget that MJ atage 38-40 tore up these new players from Pierce, Allen, Kobe, McGrady, Iverson, Carter, Marion, etc.. going for 40 & 50 pt games. Just with consistent shooting & tricks of the trade. Forget that MJ was way out of his prime athletically. He just beat the new generation of basketball players with fundamentals.
i submit to u that getting fouled hard, not having any easy layups, knowing that everytime you touch the ball ur gonna get double and triple teamed, and knowing that anytime you take it inside, ur gonna get fouled HARD, is alot more taxing than trying to figure out zone defenses...also, don't forget, Jordan was a phenomenal defender as well (9 time NBA defensive 1st team, which is a record) expending even more energy on the defensive side than he did on the offensive side
Kobe has never experienced d like this before. Mark Jackson is the biggest moron. He's Just mad Jordan whipped on him and thrash talked him till he went home and cried. By the way Great Video i was 9 when this was on. Chicago was on lock down . Nothing like Watching the Knicks and Bulls play back in the day. 3:20 is a perfect example of a man's game back in the 90's, no tech, no flagrant, no ejection, no fight that envolves players and fans going to the 9th row, just wipe those glasses and play. 6:19 and 9:20 one of the cleanest steals ever, thats why mark "i cant beat MJ in the playoffs" jackson is talkin all that trash about kobe being better than MJ, take some lessons kobe, maybe one day u too will get 200 steals in a season or lead the league in steals, or become defensive player of the year...
Thats exactly my sentiment, the only time Kobe played defense was in the Olympics, only because you can get away with holding and hacking, dont believe me check out all the fouls he would of had if they called them in the olympics. Michael Jordan had a scoring title and defensive player of the year. Jordan cant be touched, kobe wishes he can be Michael(air)Jordan and whats up with Kobe calling himself Black Mamba...Loser!!
kobe is having a hard time scoring on the 2008celtics defense which is nothing compared to the 90's knicks defense lol, the best defenses you will ever see are the bad boy pistons & 90's knicks

this is the good days where rival teams were able to and did make the other team feel it on fouls

Jordan will always be the best.
Jordan would still own the same way today. However, every now and then you will see somebody in the NBA that will remind you of him (Wade, Kobe, ect)
However, there are players that for some reason we will never see anyone reminding us of them like Magic and Shaq.
it looks like the mold for those two was broken.
