Where is the fuse for the 12v hotwire on the 2002 Chevy 1500HD? Is it under the hood, under the dash, or by the steering shaft. I am able to get all lights working on the trailer accept for the dome lights inside. This is a question for my husband lol
@MLove4Christ If you visit etrailer(dot)com and under the 'Help Info' tab, find the Help Articles, then Brake Controllers, there is an FAQ on How to Install a Brake Controller on Cheverolet/GMC 99-2006 Pickups. There are pictures on the bottom of that article that will show you where the correct wires are. You can also ask one of our experts by clicking the link on the bottom of any of the product pages, if you are still having trouble. If you have any other questions, please let me know!
When you tapped into the existing tow package(6 pole) and connected the new 7 pole wires to the existing ones, which colors did you connect to one another. Because I have a chevy 2500 with a 6 pole already wired in the truck, and I wanted to know how I would connect the 7 pole into the 6 pole, so that it is wired and working correctly.
@Fordman903 The best way to match up wires in one of these situations is to use a circuit tester to test for functionality of each wire. If you visit etrailer(dot)com, and look in the Help Articles section, under the "Help Info" tab, there is an FAQ on wiring that you may find helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions, or you can ask one of our experts from the website. There is a button on the product pages to 'Ask the Experts'.
@weiwuri It sounds like there might be a wiring problem inside your connector. The running lights and the brake lights are right next to each other on the connector. If they are touching this could cause the problem you are describing.
