And they will tell you why! We had a few old ones that were so old & rusted beatup they didn't look like microwaves. They were refused and not having a radiation detector we used an EMF one and it went off the chart just by getting close to these rusted heaps of metal.

What is wrong with the bottom of that Microwave oven's door, along the bottom edge? It looks like it has been bashed in and curves. With a damaged door seal like that the microwave oven would very likely leak Microwave energy. It doesn't surprise me at all there would be a problem. The difference being that the Mobile signal uses like 1watt of power, a microwave oven as most people are aware is more like 800watts (or more). So that is why your analog tester did not register a signal. I do believe there is a little more to it than that but I am not an expert.

Your test is interesting, but it doesn't show how much energy is being radiated outside the oven. It's good to be cautious, and I generally like to stay a few feet away when I use a microwave, but I'm not convinced at such low levels as your picking up that it's all that much of a problem.
#2) dont stand right on top of the thing while heating something up
#3) you wouldnt stare into a standard tube tv so why would you do that to a microwave.
#4) tube devices like CRT monitors cause this same affect you should measure those and see what it does to humans. lastly i'd throw that thing away and get a new one one that has extra shielding so you dont have that trouble, they do sell those you know.
usually you have an oddball microwave come off the line that leaks like crazy or gets jarred around too much due to shipping. but usually most microwaves do not begin to leak instantaneously. it usually takes very frequent usages for the seal to be partially non-effective. and there will always be minor leakage through the front window because of a stray electron beam. microwaves are not dangerous if used properly. just be cautious of the magnetron transformer quiting after a few years...

Did you ever stop to think, that MAYBE the reason your souped up radio shack frequency counter could be picking up AC hum from the transformer in the oven ? Have you tested this unit with another device in the same frequency range ? My professional RF test equipment has to be used correctly in order to be accurate, otherwise you end up picking up all kinda of AC power related noises.
Radiation in that frequency is non-ionizing and will not cause cancer. Anyone who knows basic physics knows that microwaves don't emit the sort of radiation, general folk associate with radiation (ionizing radiation)
Microwaves despite the name, have long wavelengths meaning the photons don't have enough energy to disrupt the chemicals bonds in DNA and cause cancer.
Microwaves are only dangerous if you have really high amounts (like inside the oven) and that danger lies from the thermal effects. Aka if you put a human in a microwave it will burn to death

And this is why I never use the microwave. I make my food the old-fashioned and healthy way by using the stove. voila! Tastes crispy and without the free radicals! All it took was an extra ten minutes or so.
I even buy some of those frozen entrees that say "Do not cook in conventional oven. Microwave only!" and I am so BA that I cook it in the conventional oven. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to cook food.

@mysteriousjustin @mysteriousjustin Regardless of where I get my information from, the fact is that mobile phone signals are in the same RF range or band as a microwave oven (along with many other devices). The difference being that the Mobile signal uses like 1watt of power, a microwave oven as most people are aware is more like 800watts (or more). So that is why your analog tester did not register a signal. I do believe there is a little more to it than that but I am not an expert.

The meter is currently set to measure microwatts per meter squared, read the user manual at gigahertz solutions for the HF58B. This is a negligable amount of power.

Additionally, industry canada sets the exposure limits in the 1500 to 15000MHz band (your microwave operates around 2450MHz) to be 10 watts per meter squared, or 500 times what your meter is capable of measuring on the maximum setting, and 500000 times what your meter is capable of reading on the setting in the video.
In laymans terms, just because the meter is off the scale doesn't mean that you're getting roasted.

Microwaves do not use ionizing radiation, you are safe, they use electromagnetic radiation. The same kind that you are bombarded with 24/7 via radio, TV, WiFi, and cell towers. For the radiowaves to get out you need a hole bigger than 1/2 a centimeter before any microwaves can escape. A microwave is just a radio station inside a Faraday cage this is why the metal mesh is able to block the radio waves(IE the door). His meter is mesuring EMI a old TV will cause the same effect and its harmless!

Your test is interesting, but it doesn't show how much energy is being radiated outside the oven. It's good to be cautious, and I generally like to stay a few feet away when I use a microwave, but I'm not convinced at such low levels as your picking up that it's all that much of a problem.

#2) dont stand right on top of the thing while heating something up
#3) you wouldnt stare into a standard tube tv so why would you do that to a microwave.
#4) tube devices like CRT monitors cause this same affect you should measure those and see what it does to humans. lastly i'd throw that thing away and get a new one one that has extra shielding so you dont have that trouble, they do sell those you know.

usually you have an oddball microwave come off the line that leaks like crazy or gets jarred around too much due to shipping. but usually most microwaves do not begin to leak instantaneously. it usually takes very frequent usages for the seal to be partially non-effective. and there will always be minor leakage through the front window because of a stray electron beam. microwaves are not dangerous if used properly. just be cautious of the magnetron transformer quiting after a few years...

I have known for 30 years that these things are bad for humans. I have always left the room when people use them and I refuse to own one myself. I don't even need to use a microwave. Nothing wrong with heating on a stove. Also, if you cook your food in a microwave you have forgotten what food tastes like as it removes most of the flavours.

You must be that person who is strictly relying on the scientific max allowed amount of RF and LF fields. Well trust them, but I know a lot of people that are mad because they have tumors in their head because of mobile phones.
And don't forget kids with leukemia because their house is under high LF fields emitted from high voltage transmission towers.

Where's your test data ? NO numbers, no way of backing up your claim.
Did you ever stop to think, that MAYBE the reason your souped up radio shack frequency counter could be picking up AC hum from the transformer in the oven ? Have you tested this unit with another device in the same frequency range ? My professional RF test equipment has to be used correctly in order to be accurate, otherwise you end up picking up all kinda of AC power related noises.

Radiation in that frequency is non-ionizing and will not cause cancer. People freak out about radiation too much some times, and you have to realize that even visible light is just the same radiation at a different frequency (which actually is cancerous at near UV). So why dont you put your head in and turn it on. I have sen families in total health havoc because they use the microwave all the time. Cookingis fast and easy, but you can read research about microwaves kitchen devices and the health effects it brings us.
If it can fry the food inside the oven, why do you think it is safe 1 meter away from the oven.
It is frying your cells slowly. And there is no comparison with light spectre.

Why don't you put your head inside of a toaster oven? I can even feel that radiation from a near distance.... You are exposed to radiation of every frequency, naturally, nearly all the time. Just because a sensor may 'freak out' or clip at some obscure level does not mean that that power or frequency is dangerous. I have even seen sensors 'freak out' over radiation emitted from organic beans before...

I am not saying that you are entierly wrong (abuse of anything is bad), but "you might not be right always" as well... For the doses almost anyone experiences, there are hundreds of other things that need addressing before even concidering EM radiation... Also, sorry about the tumor stories as well, but any statistics course can explain this easily (even if the cancer was not cause by cell phones).

all microwaves leak but the amount they leak is not very harmful to people if you put your face about 2in away from the microwave it (may) cause problems, every microwave must pass a test befor it can be put up for sale, and the power of the leak goes down abuut 100 times form 2in. (about the as long as your pinki finger) from the microwave to 20in, (arm legnth) so i will say it again ALL microwaves leak but it is very unlikely to be harmful

then you'll see that this guys meter pegs out as well. It would seem that if a radiation meter pegs out it must be pretty serious.

I told you that the radiation is too strong so the machine can not measure it. It is that strong even few meters away. Healthy levels are much lower 1-50 mW/m

Yes this tolll is for measuring RF radiation, and it was really strong. YOu can see in the video. My microwave is brand new and I doubt it has faults. Rf radiation goes thru the faraday cage so I am sure all the microwaves are leaking like that.
They are dangerous that is my opinion and this is my proof.

You are a fucking idiot!!!! It doesn't emit GAMMA radiation, it radiates RF radiation. Why don't you a proper device for testing. Also, your microwave's door contains a faraday cage which the microwave frequency cannot pass through. The RF energy is leaking through your door. Get your microwave serviced. The result is as a result of interference from RF energy. Much like a flourescent light.
