As much as I think Putin did a lot of good things to Russia, I am all against these 100% undemocratic moves that Medvedev (and Putin) are trying to accomplish. 1st - there is a big reason of why there is a 4 year period for each president and that is to limit his power and allow more balance of power in the nation. 2nd - the same goes to how many times a president can be at the office - balance of power, otherwise it's all going back to dictatorship, i.e. communism! Think people!!!
Yeah, but he can still be voted out after 6 years. 12 yrs & 4 terms of FDR - the monster that put us thru the great depression, WW2, stole our gold & left us the welfare state - even HE didn't become dictator.
Russia is a democratic country now and likes Putin's plan so they have every right to prolong his/Medvedev's terms. That's really what this is all about. At least its getting a fair vote. Russia has become more Nationalistic but not communist.. big difference between those two ideals...
I guess as long as they don't go back to the communism regime and as long as there is an open free trade between Russia and the rest of the world - they should be ok, but we have yet to see where it all will lead. I am very cautious about these types of changes and I think it's better to leave the constitution alone and let it do what it was designed to do on the first place. Is this change permanent or is it only for one time use?
This is a smart move. I believe there should be no limit to terms actually. Because a president will always lie to you in his second term. At least with no limit to terms, the president would have to keep his promises or face loseing the next election.
"America always lies" "Russia always lies" What the hell is wrong with people? Cant you see that both countries are flawed democracies run by "rich white oligarchs." And dont try to use Obama as a counter argument, he's half white and grew up in Hawaii thats hardly the same crap ghetto environment the rest of Americas black people have to put up with.
As for extending presidency terms. Seriously you dont think that will bite you in the ass if a BAD president like drunkard Yeltsin is elected?
Next 10-15 years will be critical for Russia and the whole world.
Russia is facing the greatest existential threat, and we just cannot afford to let US make a color revolution here and install their puppet government (like in Ukraine, Georgia etc)
We just cannot afford people like Kasparov, Yavlinsky or Kasjanov come close to power.
Fine, then elect else its not like those candidates have the masses under there sway. But dont attack the fundementals of your democracy for the sake of protecting it.
Democracy is not the goal, its just a mean to reach it.
In today's world, "democracy" has lost any credibility and used only as a pretext to invade or "liberate" countries, which dare to preserve their independence.
Russia will not be ready for western stile democracy for many years, if ever.
Todays world? Study your history friend, even Athens the birth place of democracy used it as a pretext for invading and conquering the surrounding Mediterranean.
What ever system you use, its "morale high ground" always gives the people in charge a pre-text for war.
After all they have to be the morally right government, else why would we have them!(That last sentence was sarcasm.)
.. Arent YOU a member of the masses? Isnt every one last I checked? If you and I are smart enough, then educate your fellow man as to what the right decision is, insted of leaving them stupified.
Damn right America is a lie.. I mean just think about it.
I tend not to idealise the US Constitution so much. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that its authors were Freemasons, and probably envisaged that it would be tugged and teared away, bringing forth the New World Order that the US embodies today.
Let us not forget either that all the rights you know and love - right to bear arms, free speech, assembly etc. - exist as AMENDMENTS to the Constitution.

Congratulations Russia. You have disposed of communism only to find it replaced by a dictatorship. What this video leaves out is that Medvedev is going to resign once the law is passed, the Duma which is ran by Putin's party will argue that the new law allows him to rerun for President, he'll get elected for 12 more years and then probably change the law again.
Say what you want about America, sometimes we elect people like Bush, but at least Bush is then removed from power. You'll regret this.
As an example, Singapore had been ruled by Lee Kuan Yew for decades and he is now still in office bearing whatever senior ministership even when his direct successor has already been succeeded by the current leader there. UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are still absolute monarchs in which democracy is out of question. Yet you never complained of these countries, why? Is it because these countries are run by pro-US leaders?
Democracy is just an illusion, that can be morphed into basically whatever you want.
Right now it is used to advance Zionism and US expansionism. We kill you people, we destroy your culture and we tell both our people and you that it is for "DEMOCRACY" which is supposedly REAL and GOOD, so therefore our violence is A-OKAY.
People voting in the USSR to VALIDATE the corrupt system. Illusory, malleable democracy in action once again

Right! But after 10- 15 years Russia will be ready for elections? And remember: Democracy = will of majority, majority crucified Christ. Hm!
What to do than? Totalitarian regimes are not good ether.

At least they are doing it the right way - Proposing an AMENDMENT to their Constitution.
Here in the USA our government basically is like - the hell with OUR constitution!
Implement and enforce the "Patriot Act" regardless of what the 4th Amendment states.
Implement "free speech zones" regardless of what the First Amendment states..
Propose "hate speech" laws regardless...
Gun control "laws" implemented and enforced regardless of what the 2nd Amendment says....
America is a LIE...

i was so happy in 1991...finally the boot of communism was replaced by freedom, independence and democracy...today, we are back in 1917

NO because these guys are not Communist Bolshevists like the Jews that instigated the so-called "Russian" Revolution in 1917.

It is an illusion. The Clinton-Bush-Obama axis is, in actuality, headed by the same 'tribe' of people.
I think there's a 'tribal' reason you dislike Putin and any country not named Israel strengthening themselves.

And what makes you think Putin isn't aprt of this conspiracy?
Because he's Russian? He seems to be power hungry to me. That isn't a sign of a hero.
