  • Ele tem Killer Instinct aaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!!!!! Eu quero um !

  • Ele tem Sim City,aaaaaaaaa !!!!

  • SNES is the best wii, ps3, xbox 360 suck

  • what should i get ... a snes for £35 (about $50) or an nes for £50 (about $75)??? i want an nes for classics like mario but the snes will offer me games which i like, like super godzilla???

  • @Dinobot2468 A super nintendo because if you want Mario you can always get mario all stars.

  • The catridge was designed that way because the first model SNES had a lock that engaged when the power switch was slid on. The Lock was removed and the cartridges were redesigned. Find a first model SNES, open the cartridge slot and turn on the power and you will see it.

  • killer instinct kicked ass

  • BTW it's called the Satellaview.

  • The Japanese SNES had a satellite add on that downloaded games. When Sony left Nintendo, Nintendo still wanted something to put on the bottom of the console.

  • My all time favorite System, it will always be my favorite.

  • in Romania, a copy of this was sold very well in 1996, it was called Terminator, ugly name, but i liked it because the games look ok, not like the original, but ok

  • In what regard?

  • i had an acii pad but the slow switch is broken and its not working anymore.

  • Wow, the Ntsc-Snes is ugly as hell..

  • Yeah, from what I have seen from of the PAL model ones they are a much sleeker design. - Ray

  • The Pal-cartridges look better too. And what is the reason why so many Boxarts in America get changed (and look horrible)? Compare: Resident Evil 4 (GC) Pal vs. Ntsc, the Final Fantasy series, the first Mega Man....and the American Boxart for ICO is a crime!

  • I never understood that either, and you'd think that if they were going to change it they would make it better. -Ron

  • @Hobemaster but it was faster than yours

  • yes, that sucks. The Super Famicon is the best, it has all advantages.

  • @Hobemaster and did you know a japanese super famicomis compable with a American SNES internally

  • SNES = greatest console of all time

  • my one dont look like that

  • Do you happen to have live in Europe or Japan? The one in the video is the U.S. version of the console.

  • yoshi's island has that extra chip

  • its the super FX chip!

    am i correct!

  • The slot on the cartridge was for a little bit of plastic that went into it when you flip the super nintendo's power switch in the on position. It was meant to lock the cartridge in place while the system was on.

  • the super nintendo is probably my favorite system of all time. i still have my orginial system from 1991(the bottom base got yellowed on those models).

  • Killer Instinct for the win! speculation: I think they changed the cart shape when moving around chips that are on the circuit board and star fox may have a wider transfer bus.

  • Good theory, I haven't seen any official confirmation anywhere but it sounds about right.

  • quite a good game selection

  • Thanks, and these were just games laying around at NGG headquarters. Just wait until we do NES, we will blow your mind.

  • I'm telling you, you're almost not human. You know so much about the games/consoles/game history, and esoteric trivia. LOL.

  • aww come on where is Mortal Kombat? That is probably THE game that decided the console wars and helped the Sega over take Nintendo. You gotta talk about the censored game lol awesome series, cant wait for the rest

  • We have Mortal Kombat 2 for Genesis, this gen had so many great titles we split them between both as equally as possible. We also tried to cater to the consoles strenght throughout this series.

  • We will cover Mortal Kombat in our Genesis series.

    -Ron

  • That what I really notice is, how different your SNES and the PAL one looks. The European one almost looked like a Super Famicon.

  • Hey everyone feel free to express your opinions, you may get some lively debate because everyone took sides in those days but hopefully no flaming. The whole point of these is to get people talking about the systems of the past and getting the feeling of living through a particular console war. Besides, anyone that ignorantly flames someone sharing opinions on these console wars videos will deal with me personally. So basically share, discuss and debate. just keep it civil.

  • The 16-Bit Era was great. Sega and Nintendo at their best.

But i must say, I never had a SNES. OK don't kill me for that, I alwasy and still think the old Mario games are a bit boring. The speed of the games ist just too slow. So I went for the Mega Drive and Sonic.

  • To each their own, that's what's great about competition in an open market. I think Nintendo needed the competition from Sega to keep them on their toes, and gamers won no matter which one they owned. -Ron

  • It's my opinion people, so don't flame or thumb me down, but I consider Super Metroid the greatest game of all time. And I can't wait to listen on what's your take on it.

  • Ducky would agree with you 100%, he's a Mega Man and Metroid freak. I look at game design as an evolution and honestly can't call a greatest game, I look at it all as one big thing. But of course I have my favorites. :) -Ron

  • Hey,

Im curious are you going to touch on the oxidizing of SNES consoles? Also where is Super Mario World?!?!? Will Ray be doing some PS1 reviews soon?

  • Actually haven't experienced the oxidizing effect personally, I don't think we covered it but i'll check the other videos just be sure. Actually, I wanted to do Mario World but the consensus vote to go with All-Stars and with Mario Land we show on the Gameboy player section, we didn't want to overkill on Mario. I may do some PS1 reviews in the future but I have alot on my plate with this project I don't have much time to do any new Retro reviews.

  • Repairing and tearing apart systems for our shop, I've seen the oxidizing and discoloring occur. It only seems to affect certain systems so I'm not sure what the cause is. I've seen some systems almost turn yellow on the outside, but only certain parts of the plastic are affected. -Ron

  • the same with my famicoms.

  • The reason for the yellowing over time is that there were actually 2 different types of plastics used for the system's casing. I don't know at which points they used which type of plastic, but the kind that turns yellow with age is the cheaper type. I have both the original SNES(got it in about 93 I believe) and the newer model released at the end of the SNES's lifespan, and my original SNES model is yellow on the bottom only. The newer model I have is still all white though(do these yellow?).

  • no a link to the past? ahh!

  • Patience you may be surprised once we reach the end.

  • wait, you just spoiled things for me didn't you?

  • Maybe, we will have to wait and see....

  • Welcome everyone to the 16-bit era of gaming. This was the closest, most bitterly contested and fun console war of them all. Enjoy the ride.

  • i disagree playstation era was more fruitful but anyway good video as always 5 stars and when are you gonna do the PS2 vs. Dreamcast era lol.

  • The reason i say that this one was the closest, was because SNES and Genesis were running neck and neck in sales all the way to the end. PS1 era was essentially a one sided race, all the competitors had their gems but sales wise PS1 obliterated the field.

  • PS2, Xbox, GC and DC era is still in planning stage. I am working with Luke to create a list of games that cover the best games and some obscure titles while not going too long and running out of commentary. The other difficulty is the PS2 is still an active console.
