  • praise the Lord!!

  • Everyone look up Armstrong highschool the battle of Jericho. 100x better trust me

  • @iKrackeD that ain't real

  • While it may be a bit slow in tempo it is an excellent performance. One of the best I have heard here in youtube. Keep in mind that with the acoustics of the auditorium one has to be very cautious not to sing things too fast because the sound becomes "muddy"

  • we sing this in school...its really fun because we all the guys say its too hard

  • @jadabugize Have you got sheets of this song?

  • One of the better performances I have seen. Very impressive to see a choir in which the men really let go BUT (and this is a big but) they don't go over-pitch. Well done.

  • at the end, the conductor just walked off like "and there it is", brilliant!

  • Amen! Wow. ♬ Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • at 2:01, THE WAAAAALLLLLLLLLLSSSSSS.........BEAUTIFUL HARMONY

  • the best one so far...

  • The altos and sopranos could be louder during the choruses...it's almost like they're whispering. A lot of male conductors really hold back on the treble voices because they think it "balances" the voice parts, but I've never been a fan of that approach. (I'm a baritone, by the way.) Otherwise, great performance!

  • literal goosebumps this is amazing! beautiful job!

  • Is there any possibility of getting sheets to this song for my choir? :)

Part between 1:34 to the end is amazing.

  • @Marvieni10 try sheetmusicplus (dot) com and do a search for "moses hogan."

  • nice..indeed...

  • Is it me or is this song under Tempo?

  • @pickofdestinyjb Slightly under written tempo, but not to the point of sounding improper.

  • @OOZ662 That's what i thought. Either way, it is a good song.

  • praise God, yeeeeeeesssssssssssss

  • I absolutely love this song!

  • Absolutely wonderful.

  • Stunning! This is an absolutely breath-taking rendition.

  • Be mo fastah.

  • The tenors and basses beasted this one!

  • The tenors and basses rocked the heck out of that song :D

  • 1:34 to the end makes me happy

  • I LOVE BEIN A SOPRANO THIS SONG WAS AND STILL IS FUN

  • Basses = badasses

I've got a fever, and the perscription is... MORE BASSES>

  • 3 people have tumbled down...

  • DESCANT WOW.......POW

  • Beautiful!

  • My walls fell down after that ending!

  • Too bad that descant part is so short :( I could listen to that forever! LOVE the tenor part and of course the mighty basses. I'm a baritone and I'm learning this song in my choir. I am so excited :)

  • very nice!

  • When I go to Heaven, if the Angels sing like this, it will be icing on the cake.

  • dominated this song for my district honor choir. i was baritone. those chromatics the baritones had for the chorus was annoying.

  • Descant nicely DONE!!!

  • obligado=i approve

  • My choir sang this and we got a standing ovation. My sister sooooo wishes she was singing it with us.

  • perfect tempo awesome

  • if you think they are good check out dimensional harmony... you'll love theyre one of the top choirs in the state of florida and perform all moses hogan pieces but we only have my soul up now check us out plz (dimensional harmony)

  • That was the most perfect descant I've heard out of this song ANYWHERE. (: Absolutely perfect.

  • If you like them check out Dimensional Harmony from Florida. Even though they dont have this song uploaded they have others like "My soul is achored in the lord".

  • ahh this is such an epic song, we sang it in our school quad, and there was complete silence toward the end :D

  • 1:57 my favorite part of this version.

  • Hmmm too slow a tempo for my taste.

  • @masterworm1 how fast do you want them to go weird ass?..

  • The Lutheran's sure can sing....must be all the beer!

  • MUCH better than the National Lutheran Choir iTunes recording.

  • Miss singing with a group like this. Great work!

  • Perfect speed

  • Fantstic!!! The director did a great job having you go soft and loud 2nd favorite right after the The Mormon Tab Choir

  • Roanoke College Choir represent...members in this choir

  • Why are they taking it so slow?

  • @Geronimo1913 It is written that way.

  • @dachampishea I guess....It does depend on the director as well. I've just never heard or performed it at that tempo before. I really want to know who that bass is that is holding it down? His voice carried over the rest of choir. It's a good thing.

  • Good Dynamics, but the Bass's totally outpowered the tenors! Not cool.

    Though, the Soprano Scream owned!

  • This was really excellent. Some of the vowels towards the end sounded a bit lazy and closed off, but my choir is trying to sing this right now and I know how hard of a song it is. This was one of the best I've heard.

And as if it hasn't been said enough, that descant was absolutely amazing, I haven't heard that done better. And I also thought the slide down towards the end was astounding. It takes a lot of discipline to drag that slide out for that long, and you guys pulled it off tremendously.

  • great performance...strong bass and the descant was gorgeous and clean

  • just sang this in a choir of 250!

  • a bit stiff ...

  • I heard a recording of this version today. It was a choir of 100. Intense! We sang a different version.

  • wow really great job although i think it could have been a little bit faster...but really i like it , i'll try to do it with my choir :D

  • haha. Our choir did this song in 2009.. It was really fun && pretty.. <3 You guys did really good. :D

  • it really is fun to sing.

  • @expertonmyself yeah it is! we are singing this for choir class and i love it! (:

  • nice bass=)

  • I think I have to agree with TheMagicFruit. It's a beautiful piece. The chorus is excellently put together, and the voices are beautiful. It's a very full sound, not nasal like so many. However, you should really be pronouncing your CONSANANTS and your VOWELS harDer... Like... JJeri-K-OH.... baTTle.... The 1st Soprano who took a hold of the horn of Joshua was amazing. Bravo.

  • Very GOOD choral work! However, the choral arrangemente needs more excitement!

  • i really really hate the tempo

  • i agree

  • Yeah. WAY too slow.

  • cant hear the altos very well in certain parts, but great job!

  • That ending was really nice.. I like the sfz at the end so you could hear the basses..

  • There's only been two descants that I've heard that I've enjoyed.

The girl that sang it for my choir.

    And this one.

    Good job.

  • Not to be a generic Youtube critiquer...but I just want to say (especially in the beginning) the vowels are lazy....the vowels in this song are meant to be sung bright and clear. Such as, Jer-i-kOH, not Jer-i-kOO.

    Otherwise, very nice rendition. :)

  • perfect song and perfect sing!

  • That was amazing!

  • where are the dynamics?

  • i know rite horrible

  • nitwit they are there, if you've ever read this score, which obv you have not, they're completely on track...study some more deuche

  • I could slap somebody's momma right now! (figure of speech lol) That was sooooooo good!

  • I love this piece. One of my favorites to sing by far.

  • Great!!!!!

  • yessssssssssss for that descant.

  • @boomboom2009 it could have been rounder. nice energy though! this is great. i just want hear one choir accent the T's in battle as Hogan originally desired!!

  • @couturesixfour listen to this recording from user JAnthony37

  • Not to be racial, but it is certainly nice to see a white choir really "get" Moses Hogan's arrangement. I love this. You should all be commended.

I can hear the T's and J's. I love it!

  • Beautiful!!!

I especially like the clashing between the "Sh"es in Joshua and the "TT"s in battle, they really showed the battle between those two sounds as mr. hogan had intended.

  • Thank you for understanding proper tone of this amazing spiritual. Bravo!

  • I always like meeting people and then finding out they're Lutheran! It's fun!!

  • great song!! thanks for posting!

  • great job!!!!!

  • AMAZING!

The best permormance of this widely sung play.
