  • @AvionicRon It's the guitar.

  • listening to this for the very first time ... sitting motionless with open mouth still after 3 minutes ... divine music ...

  • Andy took the pick - all people on Youtube blinded by awesomeness! Imagine Andy took electric guitar - dirty politicians all over the World died? :D

  • @copypaiste well there's already a video of him shredding the electric... It is the work of a master

  • Andy With a Fret and and CAPO WTF?!

  • @eldan400 with a fret........? He uses a capo on Rylynn too, and I'm sure there are others I can't think of.

  • I'm sure this song took a lot of hard work to put together, but seriously he makes it looks like he was just jamming one day and this came out...awesome.

  • So flipping incredible. I can't even describe how much I love this song. Kudos to you Andy Mckee, you are a legendary guitarist..

  • Please pass them come running?

  • oh crap, for seriously, im starting to LOVE this cute guy so much.... his music is just great

  • 2:46 holy shit

  • how does he do that!?

  • 2:32

    I just jizzed my eardrums

  • Bravo, sir!

  • what guitar is he using ?

  • @crazykel217 Greenfield S1.2

  • @ChuckNorris5011 thanks dude

  • like this post if you put your guitar down when you heard him play

  • Excellent Sound, Andy. Congratulations!

  • Louis: (gob falls open) 'ohh my gosh...' (opens another tab, types Andy McKee into Google, searches for tour dates, clicks back on youtube tab, watches till end, Likes.)

  • Even with a guitar pick he still amazes me. Andy, I love you man. Never stop playing. Seriously. <3

  • Wow this guy is a master...a defender of awesomeness at the very least.

  • how do I get this version w/o drums and shtuff?

  • i thought it was 2 guitars. rythm and the lead

  • I heard he has to soak his guitar in liquid nitrogen when he's not using it, so that is doesn't set fire when he plays it.

  • Why, why, just WHY he doesn't play this on 12-string guitar?! And why he doesn't play louder near the end?! I really don't get it. This great song could sound way more epic.

  • @alexbikru try to make hammer ons and pull offs on a 12 string and you tell me why, why then

  • @Watalull Not saying I can do that, but check out the "John Butler Trio - Ocean" video here on youtube. I don't see any stuff Andy does here that Butler doesn't do in that video, and John plays his song on 12-string.

  • @alexbikru Well, not actually 12 strings, since he removes one of the G strings, but anyway.

  • @alexbikru Of course you could play it with a 12 string (or 11 string as John Butler does), but it diminishes the sound of the note and the stroke has to be harder and eventually you play with lack of dullness..in the video John uses most of the hammer ons an pull offs with the single G string...that said, both are beautiful melodic and profound songs. ;) thanks for sharing

  • @alexbikru

When you build a fanned fret 12-string that's meant to be tuned to DADGAD, you let me know.

  • somehow it also looks impossible and amazing, when he uses a pick :D

  • any ideas about tuning ? DGD ?

  • @QbaqAcoustic Open G? DGDGBD?

  • how many fingers do u have?

  • i like the way his guitar frets are like distorted.. :)

  • @NickizTa *Fanned ;)

  • @NickizTa It's called fan-fretted. Michael Greenfield made his guitar. It is indeed an amazing guitar haha. :D

  • @ChristopherSEAY123 does it make the sound different in any way?

  • @NickizTa From what I've read, it makes the base notes sound more prominent, full, and in tone.

  • @ChristopherSEAY123 oh.. such guitar is totally meant to be played by this great guy! thanks for the info sir.

  • Something about this song is just so..inspiring. It always brings a smile to my face.

  • where is the repeat button on youtube?

  • @kloaStoawonga At the end of the video Mr. Hawking

  • @EaglesonGuitar i have ment a loop, so don't have to click the button...

btw, try youloop on trashnet.de if u got a similar problem

  • he has the most badass acoustic ive seen

  • Reminds me of John Butler

  • dear replay button, i hope you will forgive for my persistent spamming of you, but i'd like to let you know, it was for a worth while cause

    Oranappleade.

  • I was supposed to be asleep 45 minutes ago. I've just listened to this song 11 times and if I didn't have to go to work tomorrow morning, I'd listen to it 11 more. I'm sitting here alone, actually applauding and smiling during the many amazing transitions in this song. Tells a great story, without a word ever being spoken. As good as it gets. TY Mr McKee.

  • im now hearing this every day and it never gets old. this music is so ummmm.... so ummmmmm..... words cant explain it

  • @irish66212 Yeah, AT LEAST $14,500 if you're just an Average Joe, for the God himself, Andy only payed half price.

  • This never grows old...

  • I'm tired of jizz jokes, "clever" comments made for thumbs up, and dislike "jokes" that were never at any point funny.

  • @Pyrofreak321 YouTube needs you NOW! :P

  • @Pyrofreak321 I like(d) this comment cause it actually deserves thumbs up!

  • @Pyrofreak321 I'm tired of "whiny" or "bitchy" comment to make you look like an individual among millions of complete strangers who don't like trends but in their own fault fallow a trend of "wanna be individuals" who all complain(ie;all the Gothic kids who were dark clothes/make up that makes them all look the same).Yes i contradict myself right now because i am bitching at you but my point is still very true. good day sir/madam

  • @sommervilleTRS117 lol. i know know what you mean. but no. i dont like jizz jokes.

  • that is the hottest acoustic ive ever seen

  • Down thumb is not for download idiots.

  • @irish66212 ....... still want one regardless.

  • And here i was just wondering if he played any of his songs with a pick!

  • I love the illusion those angled frets give, almost looks like the fret board is twisted I want one lol

  • @gugaman928 yah i need coke to move my fingers like that too. Not sure about the other stuff

  • (Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of acoLoud at twitter)

  • and god said let there be music, and there was andy mckee....and god saw that it was good.

  • was this really played with only 1 guitar? o.o because playing with the pick and at that pace, it seems to be impossible

  • @MaGmaRinE Yes. Its advanced flatpicking technique thats all. Strumming with combined single note plucks. I don't think he uses hybrid picking in this though. Hybrid picking is where you use a pick and also use your fingers to play notes at the same time.

  • god dam... i jized in my pants again... and this is my 8th time watching! ROCK ON MAN!!!!!!!!!!

  • it's BGDGAD =']

  • whats the tunings....DADGAD?

  • could be DADGAD or DGDGAD

  • @irish66212 cool thanks for the reply!!

  • @irish66212 random question but u actually from Ireland? if so whereabouts.. just need to know if ur able to get andys tab books anywhere around dublin..

  • best ending ever

  • For all those people wondering why the neck's twisted, it's called a fan fretted guitar and it's meant to live in DADGAD

  • Help!!! We are being invaded by aliens from another distant universe. I think there are five of them......from the the planet 'dislikes' :)

  • imagine you sit around a fire with some good old friends and andy, it's cold and dark outside, but the fire gets you warm. He picks his guitar and start playing. What a pleasure.

  • A PICK?!?!?!?!?

  • nice guitar! looks like the whole neck is twisted..

    also very, very good music!

  • @irish66212

I know that because I saw him live and said that its one of the song that he plays with a pick.and cuz it says on the tablature and is really obious that is a pick:P

you can see at 0:37 that he is using a pick

  • What's the international version?

  • This is such an amazing melody and song.... I always feel inspired after listening to it. Beautiful!

  • i kinda want to learn this song. Something i want to get people's opinion on...

in order to achieve the rich flowing sound of this song... you know note after note in succession with such little pick moment.. is he using some kind of delay? I think the most obvious sounding part with "delay" is when he taps the guitar body with the heel of his palm at roughly 2:22

  • @joshhoe

sounds like a reverb, not a delay

  • one of the best songs ever written on a acoustic guitar, imo

  • that's just brutal picking.

  • Andy, I don't even know if you will read this or not, but let me tell you that you are very talented. Everytime I feel sick I use to listen to your music and feel so much better then. You are my biggest inspiration because you can give hope and joy to the people with your music. Since a long time I dream of meeting and hugging you and saying "Thank you" to you. You're great, Andy and please keep on playing guitar.

  • @irish66212

in this song he's using a pick:)

you can see that very clearly:))

  • @TheShedow11 it's not a pick. it's thin air and he's just moving his hand past the strings to make them sing

  • @BigCanOfBeans

If you want this comment to be a top rated comment you can say that, but even you know that is a pick:P

  • @TheShedow11 yeah...

  • Comment removed

  • Wish you all the best as a new dad. your imprint on us budding guitarists will definitely never grow old. thank you for the inspiring music.

  • 4 people never touched a guitar...

  • he's good, as always.. but such a pity that he doesnt play for candyrat anymore.. and when i checked some of his videos, i found that 'The uploader has not made this video available in your country. Sorry about that.' and i just can say.. fuc*you

  • I can only think of misclick to the 4 (for now -_-) thumbs down.

  • Absolutely stunning!

  • I have not passed the 10 second mark, and I have already added this to my favorites.

  • maybe u should be god of acoustic

  • yeah, this song will never grow old, 'cause i probably still listen to this after 20 years and still have the same ease and emotion I'm feeling right now listening to this...and... is it normal I can't stop clicking the play button the second this video ends? xD

  • @souledge947 it absolutely is normal my friend. you just appreciate true artful music for what is. and if its not normal? im proud to be strange.

  • Age is just mind over matter: if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. (thank you andy) :)

  • andy really rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool

  • wow! would you mind if i say this is maybe the best solo guitar piece i ever heared?

  • @joyoluigi this is not new ^^, check all other songs Andy Mckee have and youll repeat that sentence several times!

  • @joyoluigi Then you haven't heard Ocean. /sagenod

  • SOMEBODY, please help me out, at 2:43 2:44 you can clearly hear a bending note of the 6th string but i cant see him bending it, how do you make this Mr. Mckee??

  • @RicardoBatistaPassos I don't hear any bend there. Don't know where you're hearing that.

  • @RicardoBatistaPassos That wasn't a bend, but I know what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure that was a slide, but even then, you're right, you don't see him sliding anything. Might have edited in the wrong clip, or it might not even be a slide either...

  • @RicardoBatistaPassos it's called a bend - you just bend the guitar - or maybe he fretted the string extra hard and made it bend that way.

  • Comment removed

  • You NEVER cease to amaze me Mr. Mckee, thank you.

  • A PICK????!!!!! Thats like using his penis! haha

  • dude who the fuck doesnt like this shit? fucking english punk rockers..

  • oh my gosh...

    he's using a pick!

  • lovin the frets on that geetar..

  • Without forgeting the guitar, it'd be very interesting to see Andy plays an electric guitar, too. But in the guitar, he is... (without words). =))

  • lets go to flv2mp3.com! haha

  • he deserve every guitar that he wants, and God deserves him.

  • its just not fair....

  • the 3 people who disliked this might have acquired mental retardation...

  • in heaven to hear this!

  • one day i will play this song to the girl i grow old with

  • the '' dislike button '' should not exist for this kind of videos

  • I have promised to play this at a wedding in May. But can`t find tabs. Can someone help me out??

  • @tobiaswerken Hal Leonard sell the Tabs in a book. Search Joyland on the Hal Leonard website and you will see it straight away. Don't worry. Hal Leonard are very trusted, they deal with lots of artists and have their logo printed on the book.

Playing for a wedding aye, good luck!

  • 3 people grew old

  • @EmbriellasWings 4 now, whats is wrong with those people?! =)

  • Okay, got my popcorn, lollies, coke, chips, chocolate, comfortable bed and position, yep, all set, time to watch this over and over again for the hundredth time :)

  • @gugaman928 this song made a month worth living for me

  • Guitar GOD!

  • Listen to MEDITATING MELODY if u liked this! its the first one when u search it both amazing songs!!! :)

  • ITS THE PICK OF DESTINY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :0

  • Meh. This kinda sucked after like 3:53.

  • Crap, were the heck did my jaw go! Damn I lost it again, this guy seriously can't give me a warning when he's plays such an amazing song like this?

  • Gob Smacked!!

  • master

  • is it just me or is it that the guitar neck is a bit twisted... :s

  • @sanveg93 its called splayed frets I'm pretty sure. the neck isn't twisted just offset frets for deeper bass notes and more defined high notes :)

  • @sanveg93 The frets are fanned to make the notes more accurate.

  • @iswear12345 Nope. Fanned frets support strings tension on alternative tunings. Notes are the same.

  • @janklosowski Lol yea i think we are both right. When I said the notes are more accurate I meant that they are more in tune because the intention is better from the fanned frets, not that the notes are changed

  • @iswear12345 Lol but I cannot agree. You can play DADGAD or something and stay in tune without fanned frets. Accuracy is more about micro-correction on the bridge.

Fanned frets give you more tension so bass strings sound stronger, louder brighter, less buzzy. It's not about staying in tune. IMHO.

  • @janklosowski I agree with you but we are both right. It's not about "tuning" it's about tune as in pitch. Every guitar gets out of pitch around the 9th or 10th fret if the frets are not fanned. Andy explains this in one of his video.

  • @iswear12345 The difference in intonation is small. There is a perfect intonation fretboard that you can find if you look online. But the main reason behind the fanned fret is sound, and the ability to go to lower tuning. A lot of tone comes from scale length. Deeper notes sound better with a longer scale length. A fanned fret gives each string its own scale length, making it sound better. It also allows the bass strings to be tuned lower without losing their tone or eventually rattling.

  • @cayleb101 Sungha Jung isn't anywhere like in the same league as Andy, not even close.

  • dose anbody n know the tuneing ?

  • @sommervilleTRS117

    BGDGAD

  • I'd like to see Sungha Jung play this piece....with Andy. :)

  • Someone should cover this on a twelve string, amirite?

  • A drummer would be great.

  • Awesome.

  • yeah the pick is a first lol

  • Using a pick? whuuuhhhh??????

  • sounds like 2 people in this one...i guess it always does with him

  • One of my favorite song of Andy.

  • the neck looks funny. LOL

  • @yoshmo called a fan fret dude.

  • is it just me? i am seeing the guitar neck twisted on some angles. woah!

  • @KuchikiSAN17 Its so each note can hit the perfect note its tuned to, having a twisted neck improves the sound quality....but so damn expensive!
