  • Catchiest song ever lol

  • like the fleetfoxes but better

  • They could have sung the phone book and it still would have sounded good.

  • I thought this was a joke song made by the people behind the Venture Bros. Now I know better.

  • Apple needs to release this shit. C'mon.

  • @blazak they did. when anthology came out it was re-leased as a 3 track cd single.

  • @ringowolfsblood666 Yeah, I've got that. I mean all 1963-1969 records.

  • thx Ringo, now i can spell out.

  • This was the first Beatles Christmas song I ever heard. My cousin was a member of the fanclub in 1966 & he got this in the original floppy record in his fanclub Xmas card. I recall everyone laughing hysterically when Ringo sang "O U T spells out". We all loved their irreverant humor. It was a shining moment in that holiday season. What a pleasure to have this compleat version to share so many years later.

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL ANY-OLD -WAY! PEACE!

  • fun cool song by the fab 4.love it.

  • How odd: in the photo provided, Ringo looks like a space alien with a mop-top.

  • O-U-T

    spells SHITE!

  • Aint been round since you know when

  • Who else is already in the Christmas spirit?

  • O-U-T spells OUT!

  • LOL, John does opera at 5:05? :-D

  • Nice song. They should have made it available on the Anthology cd's.

  • @HonkyCat90 It was issued as the b-side to "Free as a bird" in 1995.

  • @rog944 They didn't spend as much time on this as "She Loves You" or "I want to hold your hand", it was only a free record given to fan club members and they were just having a bit of fun!

  • @rog944 Yes, but they're our weirdos.

  • @rog944 for the record..."their" implys ownership, as in "their books" or "their shoes". They're is a contraction for "they are" as in, "they're not weirdos, but you're an idiot!" Maybe you should have paid more attention in school! And yes, O-U-T does spell out!

  • @coyote728 You're the fucking idiot. What does o-u-t have to do with anything? (especially Christmas). You understand so little, my friend.

  • The Beatles are the only band that can make me listen to a Christmas song two months after Christmas is over.

  • The Beatles are the only band that can make me listen to a Christmas song two months after Christmas is over.

  • It's a clumsy remix, take 444!

  • i love this song. its so catchy

  • hey dude! have you uploaded the 6 minute version?

  • @battou6648, watch?v=od6brWesSvg

Sorry about the delay, The 1967 message didn't want to upload.

  • Monotonous, isn't it?[/Jerry Colona impression in an old Looney Tunes cartoon]

No, really, I can listen to this all day - and for a while there I thought I would be! (drumroll)

    It's the Inna-Gadda-Da-Beatles!

All kidding aside, I've always been happy this was also in existance separate from the '67 Christmas message.

  • O-U-T spells "Out" meaning, Out of Vietnam

  • @ternak001 I never knew that!!!! Thanks for explaining that.

  • I can spell Out!!! Thank you Beatles without you i woulda never known :P

  • babadabada

  • Merry Christmas everyone!

  • @newellgirl Merry christmas to you and a happy new year!!!

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac On The Beatles 5th christmas record, (only available to the fan club members - and also titled "Christmas Time Is Here Again!"), this song plays throughout the record. That was in 1967. The song was credited to all 4 band members and all 4 perform on it, as well as George Martin, Victor Spinetti and Mal Evans

Ringo recorded his own version of it for his Christmas album in '99.

If McCartney did a version with Wings then it's nothing more than a re-recording.

  • LOL That;s What he's saying out spells out thanks randmom Beatle

  • 3:31 love these guys

  • Another lonely Christmas for me once again, Women can be so mean....Happy Krimble:) Peace and thx

  • This is sped up a little...

  • Merry Christmas John,Georgie,Linda,Maureen,Brian E. & Stu.

  • Too all the Beatles' fans, maybe we should do a carol gig out of this song on this tune this Christmas and the following ones to come. Merry Christmas to all.

  • it reminds me when stevie riks did a represantation lol

  • //o-o\\

  • Christmas Tiiiime Is Heeeeeeere Agaaaaaain !!!!

    \o/

A great 2011 to all Bestles fans !!!

Cheeeeeers and grretings from Brazil !!!!

    \o/

  • You had to be a member of their fan club to get a copy of this...

  • Who are the 5 brain dead morons who don't like this ????

  • I WANT PAUL FOR CHRISTMAS!

  • @mccartneygirl151 I want him more!

  • @mousesandwich NO I WANT HIM!!!

  • even when the Beatles are half-assing a song, its phenomenal.

  • my 2n d fav xmAS song. for xmas i asked for te christmas album

  • fantastic post! thank you! : )

  • O-U-T spells OUT!!!!!!! :))))))

  • i think there's a much longer recording than this one

  • Recorded on the last recording session of 1967 - Nov. 28. The 1967 Christmas record was recorded on that day.

  • The Beatles taught me how to spell "out".

  • @KenCarSuz When do they say that in the song?

  • @soccerguy325 Ringo sings "O-U-T spells out" at about 38 seconds in to this video.

  • @beatlesfan464 Hahaha, oh yeah! That's funny, why would he say that?

  • @soccerguy325 I am not sure

  • @beatlesfan464 Hmmm...how do you know it was Ringo? Was it John or Paul or both who wrote this? Because it sounds like all four of them who are singing it...?

  • @soccerguy325 This song I am not sure if it's a Lennon/McCartney or all of them. I am almost certain it's Ringo singing "O-U-T spells out" though.

  • @beatlesfan464 It would seem like a Ringo thing to do.

  • @soccerguy325 Also, you can tell it's Ringo saying it, since they all have distinct voices. Ringo has the deepest, for example.

  • @beatlesfan464 it was a Lennon/McCartney/Harrison/Starkey

  • @beatlesfan464 All four Beatles are singing on this song. It was a collaborative, group-effort all around, from the songwriting to vocals. I wish they had done more songs like this - where all four were equally involved on vocals. A nice little Christmas gift from the Beatles to the world. Oh, and "Christmas time IS here - again!"

  • Sounds like the LSD period!!!! but john had to let us know.

  • Sounds like the LSD period!!!!

  • the Beatles were so amazing even when they were just goofing around or jamming in the studio. this song should be sung instead of the same old carols every year. is it on an album or a single /CD anywhere?

  • @4FabBEATLES The closest to the original heard here is a recording by Ringo on his Christmas album (which I highly recommend). It can be found on I-Tunes.

  • @4FabBEATLES this is from their 1967 christmas record

  • 4 ppl don't like holiday music.

  • The best part was where they were all "Christmas time is here again!" Shit was so cash.

  • Stones or Zeppelin would never have had the guts to do something like this.

  • wow

  • Not complete, this mix is speed-up, and there's another minute that doesn't appear here, there was still song after the fade-out.

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac i was thinking the same thing, so DOES ANYONE HAVE THE 'MORE' COMPLETE VERSION

  • battou66488, i've recently got the complete version, i'll publish it, probably a bit before Christmas Day come.

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac wow nice!!! so how long is it? around 6:40-ish?? BTW, where the heck did you get it? there's still one track that i think NO ONE IN THE WORLD HAS, the "carnival of light" i really hope mccartney releases it, in it's 'VIRGIN' state (no mixing done)

  • battou66488, yeah, 6:50, quality it's decent, i need to clear it. I've got it from the Magical Mystery Tour deluxe (i call it sessions). Yeah, Carnival Of Light must be released in full true stereo (they have the master tapes and a mono & stereo mix done in 1967).

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac when are you gonna upload the 6:50 version

  • battou66488, Probably during the week of Sunday 19th (next Sunday). Or maybe before; it won't pass of christmas for being uploaded.

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac hey man, have you heard of a Let It Be bootleg recording of a song called "1882"? it says it's from "let it be" it's probably an outtake from the one in the studio (not abbey road), and it sounds really nice!! like any other beatle song

  • battou66488, you may be dissapointed to know that is not The Beatles, it's Wings.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac - Are you kidding , of COURSE it's The Beatles. It came out in 1967 on their fan club Christmas single.

  • LODGE4444, i'm not talking about this song, i know this is The Beatles. I'm talking about the Wings unreleased song 1882, that it has been put as a Beatles song.

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac -Oh, sorry. The only songs I know of that The Beatles worked on during Let it Be that ended up on a Paul solo album are Back seat of my car, Teddy Boy, Junk, and Another Day. Not 1882.

  • LODGE4444, no problem. There were more songs that were originally for The Beatles such as: Gimme Some Truth, Child Of Nature (Later the lyrics would be changed to Jealous Guy), All Things Must Pass, Hear Me Lord, and so many more.

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac the "1882" song is on the Relics Until The End of The World Disc two, collection of alternate mixes, tributes, and NEW UNRELEASED SONGS

  • But still, isn't a Beatle song.

  • @TheOneBeatleManiac Then who's is it?

  • Billinois78, A Wings unreleased song.

  • i think i have an evan linger one of this

  • @larryinc64 * LONGER

  • O-U-T spells out!!!

  • i would like to add that Paul had a very clean grandfather

  • @TrialandError1223

    TeeHee... good ol' Wilfrid ( Henry ) Brambell ( 1912 - 1985 )

  • @TrialandError1223 Clean, very clean-....

  • @TrialandError1223 He's very clean, isn't he?

  • @TrialandError1223 Very clean indeed.

  • Who composed this? got to be one of Ringo's.

  • all 4 of em wrote and sang this

  • @stanssoapbox Lennon/ McCartney/ Harrison/ Starr composed it

  • English Anglican is not Catholic.

George: Catholic, received the Rite of Confirmation - mother was from Ireland.

John: father from Ireland - mother not religious, but was probably Anglican, like Aunt Mimi (who told John that he had cursed his second son by naming him Sean.)

Paul: mother from Ireland, father a Prod.

Ringo is not Jewish, depsite the nose.

Marxism, Fascism & fundamentalists kill- Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao - not religion.

    Word.

  • England adhered to the Western (Catholic) Church for almost a thousand years, from the time of Augustine of Canterbury; but in 1534, during the reign of King Henry VIII, the Catholic Church in England was separated from the broader Catholic Church, when a new ecclesial entity, the Church of England was created with Henry as its 'supreme governor which in essence is the Anglican faith(.the Roman Catholic from Rome and the English Catholics who became the church of England)

  • John's father Freddie (Alf) was born in Liverpool .His grandfather Jack was from Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. John was raised as an Anglican.Paul's mother was Roman Catholic and his father was Protestant but he was raised non- denominationally.

  • Comment removed

  • Georges grandfather was hired as a street-lamplighter and met his wife-to-be, local Liverpool girl, Louise Woollam. They rented a small terraced house, 9 Albert Grove, in

Wavertree (which is in England). Here Georges grandma had seven kids including Georges mum, Louise.

  • Oh and I forgot Paul's grandfather Owen Mohin (Mohan) was born in Tullynamalrow County Monaghan, Ireland and moved to Liverpool where he met Paul's grandmother Mary Theresa. They had Paul's mother Mary Patricia Mohan who was born in Liverpool.Paul's mother and father's ancestry was from Ireland but they were not born there.

  • @brownsugah66 lol! sounds a bit stalkerish!

  • A lot of people don't know this but John Lennon had become in the later 70's a Born Again Christian at one point and he loved watching Billy Graham and Oral Roberts. He wrote a letter to Oral Roberts about his problems .You can't say he wasn't spiritual either because he spent a lot of time delving into Hinduism and Buddhism

  • @brownsugah66 Cause its not true lol.

  • john didnt believe in god or jesus, which is why he hated the song let it be. its in a book i bought on the beatles

  • @blueblueblee I am going to leave you with some quotes from John himself "Im not anti-God, anti-Christ, or anti-religion. I wasnt knocking it or putting it down. I was just saying it as a fact and its true more for England than here. Im not saying that were better or greater, or comparing us with Jesus Christ as a person or God as a thing or whatever it is. I just said what I said and it was wrong. Or it was taken wrong. And now its all this.3ohn himself'

  • @blueblueblee 'I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong.'

  • @blueblueblee i think it would be unlikely that John would say these things and not believe....

  • @blueblueblee I think that it is easier for me to believe 2 historical quotes from the man himself.. that is John's words instead of what someone else has interpreted to be his truth

  • I forgot to say this yesterday but Paul wrote Let it Be and the"Mother Mary" he was referring to was his mother Mary McCartney who had died when Paul was a young boy.... so I am not clear as to why Lennon would hate this song since no biblical reference was intended.

  • @brownsugah66 it's double meaning. in a book i have that explains every beatles song in their catalogue, it says that this song is about both his mother and the religious figure of mary. the exact one he is singing of is ambiguous. and that is the way he intended to write it.

  • @blueblueblee McCartney said he had the idea of "Let It Be" after a dream he had about his mother during the tense period surrounding the sessions for The Beatles (the "White Album"). McCartney explained that his mother—who died of cancer when McCartney was fourteen—was the inspiration for the "Mother Mary" lyric.[4][5] McCartney later said, "It was great to visit with her again. I felt very blessed to have that dream.

  • @blueblueblee

So that got me writing 'Let It Be'."[6][7] He also said in a later interview about the dream that his mother had told him, "It will be all right, just let it be.

I can only go with what McCartney says I never heard of the other suggestion although who knows it could be in fact true

  • @brownsugah66 yes that is all true, but what i'm telling you is that while the song is based on the dream of his mother coming to him it is also based on the similarities with his mother and mother mary the religious figure coming to him for inspiration when he thinks of them. hence the line "mother mary comes to me." it is for both marys, not just his mother.

  • @blueblueblee if you say so but all I know is that McCartney himself in interviews has said that the song was written for his mum...I wonder what people would be saying about the song if his mum had used her second name Patricia hence "I wake up to the sound of music mother Patricia comes to me" ...well they'd be saying nothing no link there at all but throw in the Mary and ...

  • Shazam! we've got the Blessed Virgin Mary ... I think his mother Mary was such an inspiration to him that he wrote the song for her and named his daughter after her.... I think on a strong note it is important to remember that Paul was baptized as a Roman Catholic but Paul never practiced that faith he was raised non-denominationally ..

  • @brownsugah66 it's true all the songs about Mary were for Paul's mother Mary, and his daughter is named after his mother Mary as Paul never really publicly practises any religion.. just like his son is named James after Paul's real name (James Paul McCartney) not after James from the Bible.

  • @4FabBEATLES thanks....

  • @4FabBEATLES Also, Paul's father was James (1902-1976)

  • @blueblueblee I think Lennon with his foresight knew that people would think there was a religious affiliation because of the name used in the song and what that connotated .. which is why he probably hated it..Paul probably unwittingly wrote it as a tribute to his mum loved it and never really noticed that until it was pointed out to him.. he couldn't help that his mother was named Mary

  • @brownsugah66 look, regardless of what he says in interviews, the book just says that he intended to write it about his mother who came to him in a dream and mother mary who comes to him when he prays, or the generality of anyone who she comes to when they pray. whether the book is correct or not really doesn't bother me anymore as i have completely lost interest. so please don't send me another essay again :)

  • @blueblueblee Listen YOU were the one who wrote to me about a comment I posted 9 months ago I merely replied.... :)

  • @brownsugah66 oh you replied alright, that you did.

  • Oh man, didn't you know??

John Lennon was the impersonation of

Jesus Christ! And he was also crusified...

in 1980. Didn't you know, you stupid!

  • @blueblueblee That doesn't mean its true...he actually was spiritual, but not in the organized religious way.

  • @jemen19762007 spiritual, yes. a christian, no.

  • @blueblueblee ...Let it be was about Paul's mother. Not Mary magdelan or whatever. Mother Mary was paul's mother.

  • @Auquis it was, it says it in a book i have that explains every song in their catalogue,

it's ambiguous, it's about both his mother and the religious figure of mary.

  • did I miss something?According to Ringo in the Anthology he IS jewish. He said he was afraid of touring in the south with the kkk demonstrating for fear that they would try to make an example of him, being a jew.

  • I watched anthology when it came out in '95.I can't remember what he said in it ,but I do remember reading some articles that said he was of part Jewish decent by Jewish law, because his mother is of Jewish descent.I also read other articles that contradicted this so by this point I didn't care any more and just loved Ringo for being Ringo

  • @JBLINT00 oh thanks for the clarification

  • It almost did not go through if I am remembering correctly because the church officials believed the song represented atheist views

  • I talked about Imagine because there was a big commotion about playing this song in the church in England with the church bells.

  • Yes I agree Imagine isn't downing anything but basically you have just reiterated what I said if you go back and read my statements however I never said that "he thinks they're not there" My comment about atheism is to xemily91 who said Lennon was atheist which Lennon was clearly not...

  • I forgot to mention that although the song Imagine talks about no heaven or hell, it never once says there is no God.

  • @Ceruofthe21stCentury Totally! LMAO!

  • I Love The Beatles and Heard This Song, Not Knowing It Was Them!

I Googled The "Catchy" Lyrics Today And Voila!

  • This must've been weird for them to do. As far as I know, John was atheist, George was Hindi (i think), Ringo was jewish, and paul...he might be catholic? I do like this though. =]

  • Ringo is not Jewish

  • no hes not!!

  • @xemily91 Ringo wasn't a Jew, and George didn't get weird til the 70s.

  • oh, okay. false information then.

but i know that George got into Hinduism after they made the film "help!", although I don't know when he converted.

  • Yeah, Hinduism = Ferrari's and mansions,

and John and Paul are Irish when you go back one gen

  • George too with family in Wexford

  • what???

  • @xemily91 as far as I know John's family was English Catholic which means Anglican. He was raised that way but I do know also that he described himself and his music as 'anti-religious' .However ,I do no think what we interpret that to mean was what Lennon meant. He was a very deep and complicated man.

  • seems he was against the religious establishments and what they portrayed although some may see his song Imagine to portray atheism I really think his message was more like all these religions are causing people to fight because of their differences perhaps if we didn't have them the world would be more harmonious? The key here was PEACE is that possible perhaps if we take away certain elements?

  • Anyway later on in his life he did imply a belief in God.I leave with a quote from Lennon

I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. Its just that the translations have gone wrong.

  • When we were 13 or 14, all we'd get to hear each year on the radio were snippets from the Fan Club offical record they sent out. Yet, 'youtube' comes through and here are, complete, The Lads' Christmas silliness from every year!! What treasures!!!!

  • * John Lennon vocals, bass drum * Paul McCartney vocals, piano * George Harrison vocals, acoustic guitar * Ringo Starr vocals, drums, tap dancing * George Martin vocals * Victor Spinetti vocals, tap dancing * Mal Evans spoken word

  • Does anyone have the Free As A Bird single version of this in mp3 format?

  • I have it on the Anthology.

  • The ending is missing!

  • Hey how you doing, I make it a point to hear this song every christmas, check out "Beatles Cookie Song" on youtube under Username:StrumminCats, it's a cartoon I did of a standard song with a Beatle twist, hope you dig it.
