the real glitch is when you steal frost and you get attacked by 50 fuckin things that make shit head louis attack you or the horse or if you have a hired follower he instantly attacks louis and so on. please help before i fuckin freak out lol

LOL when i got to the stables frostwas beating up some black briar mages and he killed them. and when I rode him he stayed where I left him before I got the papers xD toobad I cant breed him to my mares and sell the foals :(

Thanks friend!! Really helped me out. One question; Can somebody tell me if there is some sort of requirement to behead someone? I know that finishing moves are performed randomly but I haven't had the luck yet to perform one myself. I don't know, could the reason of this be that I have the PS3 version or that I don't have my One-handed skill at a master level? If someone knows please tell me.

thanks for this bro. in addition i have something to add, i did this and it worked but louis was hostile when i got to him. you can get around this by casting a dual charged calm spell or a high level tranquility scroll then talking to him. once you get the money i suggest you get the hell out of there since the calm spell wears off.

@Roach724 I don't think there is one. Like I said, I got attacked at the beginning of the game once. I didn't do much but escape and piss off one of the guy's fighting over the girl in redwood. If he put a hit out on me, that'll be a major over reaction. Got attacked again later on the road randomly too. I've also had bandits attack me outside of city gates and thieves randomly try to rob me.

Thank you for showing us how to get the papers from the basement. The problem I'm having, is I grabbed Frost earlier on, not even thinking he was part of a quest. I lost him somewhere. I don't think he's dead, I'm sure I dismounted him before going into a city. But now, he's nowhere to be found. :/

I dont know if this happened to anyone else, but i had a different problem, i did everything right, got the papers and stole the horse, but when i went to louis to return it he just started attacking me and i cant talk to him to finish the quest, Help?

@ATurtleSlaps I have a similar problem where he spawns everywhere I go. I think he actually stole the horse eventually. I left a dungeon and Frost was gone :(

@ATurtleSlaps exact the same problem i am encountering. The only way to "finish" the quest is jump off a cliff an let frost die which will fail the quest :)

I tried your fix, but after getting the paper and stealing frost, i got attacked by letrush when i try to return frost to him. Can't even talk to him, even after i hit back and letrush can't be killed. just keep attacking me. Not sure what to do to fix this bug.

This game has over 350 bugs for the PC version alone. I've never seen such a broken game in my entire life and I've been playing for over 15 years now.... GG Bethesda, but you met your deadline 11/11/11. It was clearly more important than the quality of your product. Way to go...

@porcupotomus the book king isnt there. Some bandits have it near the black briar lodge. When you walk straight from riften to the lodge, thier are two bandits guarding a chest, the book should be thier.

Im tryn to find a suitable bugged quest and post a tutorial how to resolve any bugged quest with setstage.You can get the quest id by checkin properties of any object or NPC involved in the quest and then list the steps and add 10 to your current step to skip to next.Took me hours to find this crap but i learned a lot

I don't know if you know how to fix this, but that's not the problem I'm having. What I did was I spoke to sibbi and whatnot, got the papers, got the horse, and went to go return int to Louis but I can't find him anywhere. I try showing it on the map but it points me in the direction of the woods near the guard towers outside Riften, but he's not there. I went back and took Sibbi's stash which I didn't see before, which said it was in Riften stables, so I dunno wtf. Where is Louis?

Look for NPC_Louis and write down the id number

Then type in

Player.moveto ID# where ID# stands for the id number you wrote down for louis. Let me know if it works.

I cant find the louis...

@Estivaless yeah me neither. i went to Black Briar Lodge and got the papers, then stole Frost, now it shows (on map) that Louis is in the middle of nowhere (but i cant find him there). but the thing is got an dragon encounter at the Lodge, and it literally attacked everything in a twenty mile radius, so ifear it scared him away. the sucky thing is, the quest indicator isn't following him :(

@dr34m3r91 That's a tough one.. The thing is the marker is supposed to show where he is exactly and not a general area. Maybe he got glitched under the map? Have any save files from when you first started the quest or at least before louis heads out there?

@Roach724 Hey, thanks for the reply, but luckily i found him, he was a bit off the course but in the area. The map indicator is very often screwed up for me, doesn't always show the quests, then suddenly does again. It's incredibly annoying, but still playable:P

@azermith Only by retracing your steps as the marker probably wont show where he is.. Check near Riften, By the Lodge, Near the stone bridge at the lodge, and a cave nearby the town to the east.
