I know fine rightly what Punk is thank you very much. Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Bad Religion and Rancid are proper Punk bands. Green Day's old stuff was Punk Rock and that's no lie. Ask people who've listened to Green Day for years. They'd agree with me. And now that I understand you I can't say you're wrong but one of the genres Pop Punk came from as well as Punk Rock was Power Pop and that came from Pop Rock so therefore Pop Punk is part of the big Pop Rock family.

@movierobban I'm sorry, I was listing my favorite punk and pop punk bands. If the list was longer there would be Bad Religion, Casualties, and Rancid. Personally, old Green Day is more punk than blink-182 so it appeals to me more. Smash had 'Self Esteem' and 'Come Out and Play' oh those are amazing songs. All Killer No Filler is pretty pop punk, but then it drifted afterwards. I mean Sum 41 was sort of harder pop punk, I guess.
