  • @rbl2k4

    Apple Color was used thanks

  • does the small aperture bother anyone? Im looking into purchasing either the 24-105 f4 or get the 24-70 f2.8. Can someone help???

  • @MattTrecartin what are your video settings usually, what do u recommend for night time

  • hey, did you use collor corection ?

  • Really digging this man

  • Freeessshhhh v-dub

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • shot of the golf was so good. looking into saving for this lens.

  • opening shot is amazing!

  • The 0:28 moment made me think about the Dark Storm album cover from The Jezabels. I wonder if it was on purpose haha

  • @byakugan29

Wow! not on purpose at all but it really does look similar I must admit. Great eye!

  • you graded the hell out of this ha

  • @YourADrag

indeed. trying to see how well the codec would hold up. pushed things pretty far in some cases but I think the h.264 when transcoded to ProRes holds up ok.

  • @MattTrecartin i see. yeah the codec isnt the greatest but it works

  • qualidade de vídeo absurda... ja está na lista!

  • Okay this settles my lens choice. Thanks for the gorgeous footage sir. Love the water at the beginning.

  • great camera ...5 stars

  • Great vid! Did you use a glidecam for that shot of the red car or was that handheld and the IS is just that good?

  • @christopherccruz

Thanks. all handheld. I think the red car shot has FCP's smoothcam filter applied.

  • i say yes to u ..

  • can I ask what you used to colour grade?

  • @neilhartop1979

    Apple Color

  • 0:46 OH MY GOD!

Awesome video! I'm shopping for lenses and this helped with my decisions :P

  • @DaLatios

    Cheers!

  • this is great

  • Hey! Do you have to have a 35 mm adapter to mount the 24-105 L lenses onto the camera??

  • canon are totally over the edge in video mode. nikon still can't get full HD shots.

  • Dude thats insane... any editing invovled?

  • thanks, it was edited in Final Cut Pro

  • wow! beautiful

  • Two questions:

1.) Were you using the 24-105 kit lens throughout the entire video or any different lenses used?

    2.) What is the song?

  • 1.Yes only the 24-105 L

    2. Here I Stand - This Beautiful Mess

  • Excellent .. When the Mark II came out I purchased on an impulse buy and bought the 70-200 2.8 IS ... Then realized I had spent WAY too much money and took it all back. I am going to purchase it with the 24-105 kit next week and I was just hoping the 24-105 can perform as well as the 70-200

  • the 70-200 2.8 is an incredible lens and the extra speed would help the depth of field and low light shooting but the f4 is not too shabby for a walk around lens. In the daytime you'll want to run a variable ND filter to stop it down rather than using shutter speed. Keep shutter at 60 for video. (if shooting 30p) Have fun.

  • @MattTrecartin

Shutter should be at 1/30 if shooting progressive (24p). If shooting 60p, then it will need to be at 1/60th

  • @inyaface07

No. if you're shooting 24p (23.976) then you should use 1/50 shutter on the 5d because its the closest to 1/48. You shouldn't use a shutter speed the same as your frames per sec. You'll get a smeary look to your motion. As a rule double it to produce proper motion rendition and maintain the 180 degree shutter.. and this camera does not shoot 60p...

  • @MattTrecartin

I stand corrected. After a little more research...I agree with you. And AWESOME footage by the way.

  • @inyaface07

    Thanks!

I know its tempting to use lower shutter speeds because you can get more light into the camera but its not worth it because of the motion issues. Just get faster glass.

Some people use high shutter speeds to stop down their lens but it causes the 'Saving Private Ryan' look. Better to use an ND filter

  • you could always get a Canon 7d? except you may not want a crop sensor. But its a great camera for less money.

  • I've been shooting way too long with full frame to go back. I've owned several camera from a 40d, 5D, 5D Mark II and 1D Mark III.

Like I said though, I only owned the 5D Mark II for a few weeks before I took it back and have rented it a few times since then for weddings. I am more interested in the High ISO range then anything.

As far as a lens goes.. I've always shot with a 50mm 1.4, 70-200 f2.8 IS, and 85mm 1.8. That is why I was curious how good the 24-105 performs. Thanks for the tips!

  • Oh.. that's another reason I'm not concerned with shooting at F4... High ISO range helps to compensate for that. Although I thank it would be nice to save for either another 70-200 or I wonder what the 100mm f2 Macro would look like .. I bet really good!

  • nice video, thanks for sharing

  • thanks for the comments

  • I totally appreciate your vids... Well made!

  • Cheers!

  • love the quality. how much did it cost you for the camera? really want this. great presentation loved it.

  • Thanks! Camera body and kit lens cost about $3500 USD.

  • First of all, I love the video. Great footage and great color.

Second, what did you use to speed up the first shot? Just the simple speed editor in FCP or anything else?

  • Thanks, this is just a collection of random shots taken over the past couple months.

For the first shot you're correct, I used the speed editor in FCP, but I used variable speed setting to achieve the speed ramping effect. FCP speed default is constant speed so you have to toggle to variable in the drop down menu.

  • holy crap! How do you post edit the colour correction?

  • thanks. Apple Color.

  • thanks for sharing this
