sad that greensburg residents are the first being used to act out the new world order . the government has used your tragety to get us all to do the same thing[going green] . the only green is in their pockets.people cannot solve everyday problems like colds and headaches and yet they are foolish enough to think /beleive that they need to ,or could save a planet. this is the biggest farce as the rich eat the poor and the residents of greensboro push it into action. scary and sad!
.....................seriously? new world order? since when is doing things to help the environment ever a bad thing?
i agree that somewhere a corporate executive who doesn't give a shit is making some money from the show, and if the town wasn't named "GREENsburg" they probably would have never bothered..........but the end result is still positive. people are getting help, the town is being updated, and the public is being educated on the ways we could be better helping our planet.
Do u think there is any sense in rebuilding this town in such dangerous area? U arent sure if there will be another tornado next year, and it will destroy city again...
ummmm.....you're clearly not from the midwest and know absolutely nothing about tornadoes. Most of the time they hit nothing, and the ones that do rarely wipe out entire towns. the chances that another tornado will even hit the town, let alone anything higher than an F3, is highly unlikely.
tornadoes are one of the most unpredictable natural disasters on earth. they don't just hit a certain time every year at a certain place.
you're right, i'm not from midwest... i'm not from United States at all - I'm from Poland. We have very few tornadoes in Poland in a year time (about 3 to 5 in the entire country), and in my region the last severe tornado was in XIX century, so I don't know a lot about their habits. Thanks for the info, though.
actually i live here in greensburg... it destroyed 95% of the town. Maybe Ironmaus you can get of your butt and help if it doesn't sound like to much to implement all of the world most innovative technology in every building... even if it is in a 1.5 sq mile town
It sounds like Ironmaus was criticizing the use of the word "decimated" in the video description, as "decimate" literally means to destroy a tenth of, which is obviously not applicable to Greensburg. I think he/she was being sarcastic in order to point out the misuse of the word.
decimate comes from a roman background wich its decim meaning ten, but the definition of wich the movie is using is to destroy a great proportion of. because there are more than one definition of that word. and i also live in this town. and to use devastated in that context would be bad grammar, not wrong but bad usage.
Dude, I was just trying to clarify a point because the other poster was getting reamed over what was apparently a misunderstanding. No one's debating that it was a horrible thing that happened, but we're arguing semantics here, not coming down on the residents of Greensburg.

Decimated? Really? It destroyed 10% of the town? Doesn't sound like too much to rebuild in a 1.5 sq mi town. Perhaps you meant devastated.
