  • I was going to watch this while having lunch, and all I did was digging that awesome play, and I let my meal get cold...

    EPIC

  • X Japan fail at solo section after their Glam Metal day

Solo become more boring time with noisy and pointless play

  • damn I can't stand sugizo. The guy knows 1 scale and pulls his whammy bar,

he puts up nothing more than a show but I guess that's what the fans want......

His sound does fit him perfectly: artificial, fake and .... crappy hah

  • All this conversation on these yokohama concerts just proved that X is a fangirl/boy-band. So much talk, so little knowlegde. CLOSE YOUR EYES, FORGET WHO'S PLAYING AND LISTEN. I hate it when they can be crap but still millions of people are saying things like "the two most techincal and amazing players in the world <3" and heath is a kick-ass bassist.. WAKE UP PEOPLE! I love X but not everything about them is so great.

  • @PIXUTUS

I agree with you, it's sad.. take the Love Replica part at the end '6:17'

they are totally out of sync playing together. And the worst thing is, it looks like they don't even care ...

  • @PIXUTUS Yup! I totally Agree. This Solo is the worst very noisy pointless and They play forsomething like show off for Fangirl scream. Taiji solo with the band in 1990 is far more better unfortunately he met his lowest point of his life and died from suicide

  • @PIXUTUS I'm going to have to disagree with you. X has [officially] been around for thirty years. They started out in an era that was too conservative to allow rock. The gigs they played were miniscule, and only the (at the time seen as) weird, rocker outcasts even went to see them play. They popularized rock in Japan. Of course they are going to have fans. They aren't (or weren't) unattractive, so yes, some people are attracted to their looks and personalities...

  • @PIXUTUS But I don't think that takes a way from their musicianship. You can go to any rock/metal band with talented guitarists/drummers/musicians, and you will always get something along the lines of "They are the most technical." That doesn't make a band a "fangirl/boy-band." Usually, those bands cater more to a more mainstream sound, which X doesn't. Having a big rock personality also doesn't equate to being a "fangirl/fanboy" band. Besides, it's not like people fawn over every band

  • @PIXUTUS Over every band member. I never recall someone saying, "Pata is so sexy. He's the best ever!11!11!" And to be honest, they don't really say it about hide or Sugizo (too much with Sugizo--possibly from his days with Luna Sea), either. Admittedly, they do say it about Heath, which gets on my nerves as well, but I don't think X qualifies to be that type of band. Every band is going to have some crazy fans, but that shouldn't judge or blind you to their music.

  • Haters gonna hate.

    I <3 Sugizo.

  • the reason why hide and pata didn't have their own solo guitar parts was that hide doesn't shred, he's melodic with his guitar part but he's not a shredder like pata. sugizo is a shredder like pata, being a shredder doesn't always mean you're the best guitarist to those who think hide sucks, i admit sugizo is a better at improvising in solos but i like hide's preciseness on his guitar parts

  • Best intro Pata

    Best solo Sugizo

    Best outfit Heath

    But i loves all :D

  • I could never get into Sugizo's guitar sound. I don't know I guess it's since I loved hide's sound so much. I still think Sugizo's a good player though.

  • kinda boring, sex machineguns is better

  • i think this is quite boring :|

  • @MugaiKuzukiri maybe youre boring

  • Sagizo save the day when PATA too Drunk

  • never seen pata shred like that before. haha

  • HEATH!!!!!!!

  • OH MY GOD !!!! Fantastic !!!

  • Anyone who doubts Sugizo's skills please look at the videos where he's demonstrating the boss gt-10 effects. Dude was slap-popping, shredding, and doing tap-harmonics like crazy and he was just noodling.

  • the main goal of solo session is to draw attention.. and they completely done it..

  • I love both Sugizo, and Hide, but I like Pata the best personally. He just fits my taste more than the other two do.

  • Wow, not one person mentioned Heath... Well I liked it... Heath is my favorite bassist. But I think it would be wicked if Heath and J did a bass-off type of thing. Guitarists always get the glory. Anyway, Pata and Sugizo dueling was great, Pata and hide dueling in the past was great. It just shows the versatility of each of them. Yes hide was a legend, so is Pata. But you have to include Sugizo in legend status because he wails. With X he doesn't have much freedom to be truly Sugizo.

  • @Kougasomoi No one mentions Heath because Taiji's bass solos were so much better. If Taiji had been in this lineup and Pata were about twenty years younger.... THAT would have been great. Of course, Heath is good, too.

I agree with Sugizo not having too much freedom in X Japan. While he is a great virtuoso guitarist (like Pata), his guitar does not harmonize with the rest of the instruments. It's too high-pitched. I love all of X Japan's members, and their guitarists are all technically great

  • @AsianDramasRule I happen to prefer Heath's style of playing over Taiji... its a personal preference nothing to get hung about, seriously. And let me reiterate- Sugizo's guitar wails... one would assume that means higher pitch... Anyway, just once I would love it if someone didn't complain about how Taiji is soo much better than Heath, it gets really old. Though I have to admit, you were less harsh than most in your insistence.

  • @Kougasomoi I'm not complaining. I like Heath, and I respect his playing. I was just stating that Heath was overlooked because compared to Taiji he's not that great. I like Heath's bass work, too, especially in his solo stuff. I prefer Taiji, yes--his bass work is phenomenal--but I also like Heath. xD

It is a higher pitch, even if it does wail. I like Sugizo, and I think he's also great, but I wish he would at least use a different guitar when playing with X Japan. It doesn't harmonize.

  • @Kougasomoi The older X Japan songs really had harmonized guitars. While I enjoy the new ones, too, and love Sugizo's playing, it's sort of annoying how Sugizo does all the finger work and Pata is stuck playing chords in the background. It's even worse when the guitars don't harmonize because of Sugizo's pitch. I still enjoy the guitars, but I don't think it harmonizes as well. I love Sugizo's style, but I think it should be suppressed in X Japan.

  • @Kougasomoi Well, Taiji was a much better bassist, and, if I'm not mistaken, there was a sort of Taiji/Heath bass battle at Yokohama. (I heard this from a Japanese guy who went; unfortunately, I couldn't. T________T) Heath was destroyed. I don't think it's necessarily that the bassists are not represented enough, it's just I think it would be embarrassing for X Japan to represent Heath like that.

  • @palkiasmaster235: well, I don't know about guitar technique but I believe both hide, SUGIZO & PATA are amazing guitarist <3

    @hsluke: hahahahaha.... YES!!!! I AGREEEE!!!!

  • Yoshiki, pls let them play more solo in the concert

  • hide is a great guitarist, and so is Sugizo <3 I love them both.

  • Sugizo is a good guitarist but I prefer hide T-T

  • @xXDARKYOSHIKIXx now that i know a lot of things about guitar i wonder why everyone is saying that hide is a bad player i mean he can do pinch harmonics in her solos he can shred he can do tapping but in her solos he never shows all of his skills and sugizo is like kirk hammet just a lot of effects

  • @palkiasmaster235

Sugizo can play anything hide can play easily.

  • @visualrocker69 sugizo dont impress me i saw some of his solos with luna sea and they dont are such an awesome thing anyway if you have some videos of an awesome solo by sugizo i appreciate if you show them to me

  • @palkiasmaster235

Ummm check out 1992 Extasy Summit where he's playing "X" with a bunch of other guys. He rips through Pata AND hide's solos effortlessly. Like I said, he can play anything that hide can play. One can't use the same criteria to evaluate his solos in Luna Sea. They're not a metal band, it's a completely different style of music and the focus is emotive playing and dynamics, not shred.

  • @visualrocker69 yeah it sounds good anyway x solo is not that hard i want to see something awesome from him

and a guitar solo shows all the skill and style of the player but like in this solo i only see a overused whammy bar look at pata he is doing a good blues but sugizo i dont know if he is playing with all his skills

  • @palkiasmaster235

Sugizo's just not interested in conventional guitar playing -shrug- he's into expressive & experimental stuff.
