@1ben1245 thanks alot! I have some beats studio I'm tryna get rid of them I need something more strong an sound better but for cheaper I think ima just go with the m50!
@illestone15 i really say these. Vmoda are just overbassed like the beats in my opionion. These you can tweak it to your liking. Plus if u get the vmoda's, the bass will over power some higher frequency noises that you can't hear with them. 1 plus side of the vmoda ip is that they look good. But thats about it.
@wiwinko97 the jack will not fully insert with a bumper. You will need to buy an adapter. Or, I highly recommend a cable mod so that you can attach any audio cable like I did.
@16Djmac lol you have no idea what your talking about. the solos are complete crap from my experience. I have a friend that has them and will be reviewing them later. The bass overpowers everything.
@16Djmac not exactly. the hdj series have more bass so it is pretty eqed already. Don't only look at the specs. experience the headphones first. The diaphragms are designed differently.
@16Djmac not exactly. The hdj series have more bass so it is pretty eqed already. Don't only look at the specs. experience the headphones first. The diaphragms are designed differently.
@1ben1245 i own the HDJ's and ive listened to the technica's at dj conventions so i have an idea on what thy sound like, i was given a pair of solos by my cousin because he bought pioneers also, but you're right the bass does overpower them but i prefer bass over highs anyway
@1ben1245 ya that's what i like about them, because i'm an avid house, dubstep, and glitch pop, and trance listener, not to be mixed with main stream and hip hop, but i use the bass to help with timing and transitioning for mixes and djing live
@16Djmac but you do know the bass response on the beats solos are really bad right? It could really mess up your timing if you use those. I suggest getting something with a more snappier bass. Look at what sennheiser has to offer. I bet you their headphones are 10x better than beats. They won't look good but they will sound great. I suggest an amp for those that are over 36 ohms.

other alternatives to look out for are grado and shure srh840s in this price range. I just received the m50s today, and it's a little more on the bass side but as this guy has said, it's well-defined bass. For the first hour or so, they might sound only alright, but after that first hour it only gets better and better. I wouldn't say it's completely flat, but it's pretty damn close. the shure 840s are flatter if one wants a flatter sounding headphones.
a 15 minute review of a pair of headphones........ Did you do it in 3 different languedes in the one and only video, so the video ended up that long - or is it just me?: ITS ALL IN ENGLISH!!
@89MustangGuy I am confused between ATH-ws55i , ATH-m50 , Shure 840s .I listen to all genres of music but more inclined to metal and rock.Which one to go for?
@Muppet933 This one sounds more clear while the aviators have a deeper bass. Aviators still sound very good for the price but the instruments in the back are not well separated. As well as the vocal and the instruments because of its heavy bass.
Ok I'm really sick of people comparing every pair of headphones to the stupid fucking beats. THEY ARE SHITTY FUCKING HEADPHONES!!! You're paying 300 dollars for some headphones worth maybe 75. AT, Sennheiser, Ultrasone, m-audio etc. all brands I would trust more for headphones than overpriced monster and their stupid beats.
@M3X1CAN57AR1NGFR0G you have to think the reason why most people even became aware of these were because of the beats. i was looking at beats when i discovered i can grab a pair of headphones that are way better for half the price
@M3X1CAN57AR1NGFR0G For real everyone always says "Beats are better". its like Go listen to a fucking good pair of headphones not the over powering bass headphones that are way overpriced. Even Skullcandies people compare to everything. My dumbass cousin said i can get just as good sound quality from a 40 dollar Skullcandy when i showed him my ATH-M50's. Whata fucking idiot.
thanks dude I really was thinking of buying beats but I saw these and check them there really good and for half the price really thank for your video xD
But I do have a question: I'm an iPod user, and I was wondering how does this headphone sound when you use an iPod as the music source? Does it sound good and with a nice volume? 'Cause you're saying that it could be a issue.
I'm thinking about buying these ones or the beats solo HD for my iPod (160 GB Model).
What would you recommend me? I want to enjoy the best sound possible.
@elliemae690 Kinda depends. If you want to go portable with this than get the fiio e5. But as i stated on my video, you really don't need an amp because the ohms is only 38 and an ipod is around 32 depending on your generation. So there might be slight difference with the loudness and overall clarity but not so much it will sound like a brand new set of headphones. If its at home for the computer i'd get the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD Sound Card. I have one and works really good. But 100$ XD
@1ben1245 wow sorry its like 12am where i am lulz, anyway the first 3 i found had no description of it being coiled or not so I thought u got a custom mod or something. Then I went to amazon and found it :D. Should have probably just went to amazon in the first place but anyway "likes" "subscribes" +1 for you!
Quick question how do you know its coiled on amazon :O? I Googled "audio-technica ath-m50 professional studio monitor headphones coiled cable" but it only comes up unclear it it is or not.
@Cman101brawler I believe the Audio-Technica ATHM50S is the straight cable version (notice the S at the end) whereas the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 (without the "S") is the coiled version. Also if you scroll down on Amazon there will be a picture showing the coiled cable on the Audio-Technica ATH-M50. Hope this helps, just ordered mine, so far all the reviews I have seen have been positive and good luck :)
@narutofanere unfortunately these cables cannot be detached from the headphones them selfs. Still with the coiled cable, its not that long. If you get the regular cable, then its going to be extremely long.
@HunkyTalkenMonkey01 I suggest you buy these instead of the Grado, this is much more balanced, mid, highs, bass is all just right. but hey, it's just and oppinion ;)
I purchased a pair over a year ago and they broke during a move from one state to the next. Just purchased another pair from ebay for $110. They are still awesome. Sony lover no more, it's AT all the way!
@druth1226 Oh from my experience, its about 50 hours + The first day you get them, the audio may be very brittle but it will ease up after you listen to them for a day or so.
@dsp4kobe4eva Its hard to explain. A flat sound is a sound that isn't modified in any way so you hear it as it is supposed to. Brittle audio just means the sound is cheap i guess....
@h2soccergod M50 do a good job at noise isolation with its cushions (passive). And no, they do not leak that much. I will soon do a review on the bose qc15 so prove so! THanks for your question!
Hey man, awesome camera and review! You made me buy these headphones, I just have a quick question. I bought them on eBay yesterday for $120, now I am beginning to question if they may be fake or not. DO you think I could add you on skype or something and I could send a couple pics to you so you could help me determine if they are real or not. I'll pm you my skype name if that works. It would mean a lot man, thanks.
@absnl i did the same.. but for my amazing luck the beats had shipped by the time i changed my mind... now i have to wait and reject the ups package when it comes... (i just hope someone else in my house doesn't acept the package or i'm screweed) i don't want both this and the beats -_-
check out thesoundproffesionals for cheap headphones. I got these headphones for under $120 with shipping. The website doesnt look up to par but it is legit.
hey be careful with the headphone jack and ur iPod audio jack" the reason i say this is because the weight of the headphone jack is very heavy and it puts pressure on the iPod" also pulling the headphone jack out will help putting pressure on the iPod audio jack"
But honestly I can't tell if they sound any different from originals because i've never had the luxury of listening to originals before. I am so upset right now... i don't even know what to do. I emailed the company about a refund, but I'm extremely scared that they will either ignore me or blow it off like it's nothing...
@iBag3l Original equipment manufacture which means they are the same thing as the real ones but just not made my audio technica. Basically they steal the blueprints of how those headphones are made and do it in another factory with the same equipment and material that the original ones would use. So don't worry if you get an oem item :)
I'm actually listening to them right now and the sound fairly balanced... I'm so confused and am about to be extremely upset if I find out that these are fake...
@iBag3l Yes that is well below the average price. They could be fakes. Or they could be an oem item. Fakes usually have more bass on one side of the headphone than the other. If the sound is flat and not too over bassed or too high pitched than its real. But judging the website..... i can see the klipsch headphones are indeed fakes since they are well below retail price and way below just any pricing out there. Well, hope this helps. Call Audio Technica if your not sure and get a refund if fakes
