Patriotism in america is a pile of shit. You believe blindly. And if you dont believe blindly you are an outcast for it. America is the worst case scenario for democray. Read your history. It wa an american who said *Democracy is the worst form of government saving all others*.

got to love how people like this guy like to try and seperate nationalism from patriotism. Patriotism is just the stepping stone to nationalism. It's nationalism-lite, and unfortunately history has shown us that mankind has an inclination to cross the line. what has patriotism given us? mass genocides, mass rapes, ethnic-cleansing. And all of this is done in the name of "liberty and freedom". Flags shouldn't be saluted to; they should be used to wipe your ass.

Wrong. Patriotism is a virtue of the vicious, the false belief that you have something to believe in. Patriotism is NO virtue. It has NOTHING to do with freedom. It has to do with the idea that "Our people are better than YOUR people" ideology from the stone age. Get real, get honest. Patriotism is nothing to be proud of.

You think aggression coming from other nations who feel they should have or take some of what yours has is fantasy. The perspective of those who are patriotic comes from the historically accurate assertion that "we aren't that superior, we are not invinsible".

Maybe you are right. You should hate the place that gave you everything without asking you to sacrifice anything. Would your statement also fit with everyone's parents? Hate your parents and all your friends because you have some allegiance? Assuming that you had GOOD parents, shouldn't you like them more than the douches down the street?

But, don't forget that other people also have allegiances that form who they are.
