I live in Albuquerque and a young "teenage" roadrunner just came up to me while working as a Security Guard. He stood there two feet away from me and just looked at me expectantly. I told him I was sorry and didn't have any live insects or other delectables. He ran away about 15 minutes later when he realized he wasn't getting anything. Oh well.
Please tell me, how did you first meet this guy? And how did you develop a good enough relationship to get this far? I must confess, I'd love to try developing a good friendship with a bird such as this.
isnt it weird alot of animals understand when a human is presenting food to them? cause it NEVER happens in the wild. but theres alot of animals who are really flighty which will come up literally and eat out of your hands.
Just make sure in the report you spell it "helpful" instead of "help full" the latter only making sense if you could fit no more into something and therefor needed help.
I was stoked when i saw one for real in America, i was on holiday from Australia at big bend N.P and the first thing I saw when i got out of the car was a road runner....running on the road :p Beautiful Country in Bid Bend
Me and my friend were riding the 4wheeler in the back of the orcherds were all the snakes and stuff are and we saw one and he ran fast!but we caught up with him cus we had a 4wheeler but right when i was gonna shoot it with my pellet gun he flew into a small buch of trees and we never saw him agen, but good thing we dident kill it cuz my friend says its a state bird but then agen were under age tennagers driving a 4weeler with 2 pellet guns, but i relly do like this bird.
I just saw a video of a roadrunner on here, totally slamming the crap out of a frog on the ground. I guess he was tenderizing it before he ate it. LMFAO!!
skittish aren't they?
I just discovered these birds by way of a coworker who came back from uh...somewhere from a holiday with pictures of them, so I had to come on here and check them out.
He freaked me out a little but I don't even know why, I could feel his beak for sure but it was like somebody pecking something from your hand with a pez-dispenser...

That's great man, looks like you have a new friend. Did he pick you very hard with his beak on your hand?
