I love listing to thrice, especially when the followers are good ppl like most of the ones who have posted here which im sure all of you know is rare now a days. Anyways thanks for keeping it real guys.
@ozankaya Nothing noticeable so far. There's probably a large gulf between me and Thrice in that they probably practice what they preach, and I just get all ballooned up by their songs at 1am and swear I'm gonna start being a better person. Then I just fall asleep, wake up and continue being mediocre :/ And then the whole process starts again :)
@cwilliams1092 I'm glad. I'm not particularly religious myself anymore, but I appreciate other people who are. And Thrice have such a healthy approach to religion, whether they really are themselves or not, so that's cool. I just generally big up the ethics side of things.
dustin Kensrue is a musical/lyrical genius. Mad respect for Him and Jon Foreman from Switchfoot, who have amazing talent and skill both in a band and solo. :)
I had the pleasure of touring with these guys on the Warped tour in 05. For the short time we got to talk they were really awesome guys. We were all so shot from the burning hot summer sun. These guys have been one of my favorite bands since i was a kid. I'll never forget watching them play and then us getting the call that we had to go on and play on our stage right after they were done playing. I played extra hard that day!
Also for the people who say this song isn't as meaningful for christians, that is simply not true. Is Daedalus less meaningful to you because you don't believe in greek mythology?
Welcome Thrice, welcome to my favorites list. I love the melodic tones and spirit moving lyrics.......truely impressed! This is a band that has made magic in their music, my how they've grown!
Welcome Thrice, welcome to my favorites list. I love the melodic tones and spirit moving lyrics.......truely impresses! This is a band that has made magic in their music, my how they've grown!
CONTINUE TO TALK ABOUT ANYTHING... there is only truth or the absence of it. I'm obviously no genious nor am i using spellchecker ;D You may argue your experiences, your logic, or your traditions. If Christ is true, (or any God who is involved in our world) that means there is hope in seeking. If there is no greater being, then it doesn't really matter either way. In no situation is silence a good idea (unless you find that God asks that of you, then you should probably stfu).
@ToxicSheep Well here's the thing... I would argue that truth supercedes any form of belief in any higher power. If god is the truth, then the truth should be revealed to me at some point in my lifetime. in the meantime, however, there are thousands of other conceptions of god that have been created in human history, i'm not going to waste my life dwelling on a potentially nonexistent being. i would rather spend my life listening to amazing music like this and connecting to it emotionally.
@MrPacman809 whoa didn't see you replied! I would honestly agree with you if in fact, "that God" who hypothetically is truth, reveals himself in a way that people who have no interest in seeking him are.. what? shown some miracle? taken to a cloudy heaven? .. If the God of this world asks that we seek him, then seeking would be worth doing. There may be thousands of beliefs out there, but a handful seem to have become a big deal. If you start to seek, start there, worked for Dustin and I.
@ToxicSheep Oops sorry didn't see you reply either... Anyways, the reason i don't believe isn't because i didn't seek out god. It comes down to problems i have overall such as the lack of efficacy of prayer, the somewhat obvious psychological games involved in religious, the problem of evil, the problem of suffering, theological problems between omniscience and omnipotence, problems with the conception of heaven, inconsistencies in the bible, the list goes on and on. I've tried to seek out..
@ToxicSheep (cont...) tried to seek out god in my life, there are just too many logical inconsistencies and at least personally for me i just can't buy into it from an outsiders perspective. But whatever makes someone happy is perfectly fine with me. Regardless, this song has a huge amount of meaning to it for christians, and i find a lot of good personal meaning for me in this song.
enough about the christ bullshit, we all came from the same place, christ is but a part of the greater picture, your arguments will make you neither right nor wrong. what every indivisual believes personally is their own, and nothing can take away from that. unless the the band told you personally their song is about christianity stfu and listen, its useless to argue over that shit, can you not see how much destruction religion has caused already? being a good person of morale is all that matter
@hobomagic13 It is up for interpretation, from 2 comments ago, you said it is about good, instead of about faith. But in reality, Faith and Good are on the same vibration. Faith is a totally positive thing, and is not necessarily associated with Christians. And in my perspective I see Thrice singing about faith, and love and I don't associate any of that to Christianity.
@AllDimensionalFilms I absolutely see your point. I was just trying to stop the labeling, because like you said, Thrice creates music that's much more than one dimensional.
I have just had a revelation! Dustin Kensrue is the second coming of Christ! In his first decree, prayer is now a mandatory session of listening to thrice every night, and sundays will be a Thrice concert!
@Skilletbiscuits I can't believe justin bieber trash talking has reached this commentary, LOL!! I find people like you every time I listen to a good song in Youtube :))
In my mind, this song is speaking to everyone. Everyone has problems that they are dealing with, and there is so much evil in this world. But when I hear this song, I see everyone everywhere come together and work to make the world a better place. People overcoming greed and giving up their materialism to make a real difference in the world. Everytime I hear the chorus, I have this black and white picture in my mind of people poor and rich gathering together to share and laugh.
@joshuaspolar This song, and none of Thrice's music, is meant for Christ and his followers. I'm not trying to prove anything about religion or how much Thrice knowledge anyone has, but Thrice has stated on multiple occasions that they are not a Christian band, don't make Christian music, and have members that are not Christian. They borrow heavily from many different faiths and traditions, but part of what makes Thrice so great is that they write songs about good, instead of about faith.
@HoboMagic13 what? I know what you're saying about them not being a Christian band, but you've got this song all wrong. If you've read the Bible (specifically Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John), and then listened to this, you'd feel like you were just reading those 4 books of the Bible again.
It's kinda of like Jesus speaking to us. Come to me, lend me your burdens (He takes our sins). but then we can take His burdens (we get mocked for believing in God). And the breaking of bread part - biblical
@joshuaspolar I've been through the bible more than most. I get the references. But Thrice's lyrics never mention god or jesus. This is intentional, as are their public statements about not making christian music. They are writing music for everybody, not christians. This song's message is meant for the common man, and tagging it as something it's not is just dragging it down. Don't assume Dustin is trying to speak for jesus, assume he is speaking from his heart.
@HoboMagic13 well "Moving Mountains" never mentions God or Jesus but it's pretty clear what that song is about.
And yeah Dustin probably is speaking from the heart...but him being a Christian, I can assume his heart also has Christ in it. Not every song by them is christian, I know that. But it's kind of annoying when no one wants to admit that 'some' of them are. There's nothing wrong with listening to a Biblically inspired song
@joshuaspolar MEANT for christ and his followers? shut the fuck up, it may have been written with that in mind but music is MEANT for how anyone wants to interpret it. don't sound so pretentious. i've got a copy of the satanic bible under my desk and i fucking love thrice.
@aqueousapple okay congratulations you worship the devil. what I said to that other guy was meant to be taken light-hearted. I was just saying that this song was written with inspiration from the Bible. you don't have to flip out man relax
why do people feel the need to say "im not religious but i like this music". stop being ashamed or embarrassed at the possibility that someone else might think your religious, and maybe educate yourself on common stereotypes.

@cellobaby i'm not religious but thats a cool story bro. haha nah im only kidding, my faith left me a couple years ago but that doesnt change my love for thrice. peace.
