frank is surely one of the best guitarist worldwide, but he usually plays really simple songs(blues fusion rock stuffs) that makes him sounds really cold(emotionless?). Allan Holdsworth is good at least as Frank, but he plays messed up songs with too many weird chords and so he's cold and flat too.
Solution: "MWP - Truth In Shredding" or any modern jazz standard will do fine.

Probably either Blackmore or Uli Roth or Steve Howe created the genre but YJM made it mainstream 'cause he was the 1st to do it right by not being sloppy or slow and alternate picking voilin riffs. Even Al Dimeola couldn't pull it off(no pun intended).
I'm friends with the guy who produced YJM video. He was an Instructor at GIT. during the shoot Ynqwie kept calling out scales wrong.. they would stop the shoot and tell him he was wrong.. Finally "with the tape running, Yngwie said, I Dont' know music theory everyone thinks I do. i just took the crap from Paganini... so much for your beloved YJM. so thank Paganini... he's the guy who produced YJM
So he doesn't know music theory or scales. Big deal. He still sounds good and he's written some kick ass guitar centric tunes. So now I suppose you'll tell me that he is a crappy alternate picker with sub par vibrato too. Look BB King couldn't tell you what mode yer playing or spell paganni. Does that make him any less deserving of respect and awe? Nothing against GIT or any other music school but lets face it. Like any other profession, as long as you do your homework you'll learn the theory.
But having actual talent doesn't happen overnight. YJM cannot compare to Gambale in theory or composition but I think he holds his own fine in alternate picking and sweeps and his playing is unmistakeable. Just like gambale. For me I like both of them and take inspiration from both irrespective of their music IQ.
Guys, I posted the video. Let's not fight about different players ok. If you like or don't like the video or don't like Gambale's playing just state why you feel that way and try not to be rude. Let's not start a guitar hero war here ok.

It's about creation, not competition
As soon as you say that a particular guitarist is the best, then you imply that music is about competition, wich just isn't the case with art, or shouldn't be.

He definitely wasn't referring to Gambale in particular. I happen to agree with him, as 95% of the time it's completely subjective and nobody is "better than him/her" or the "best". There's so many other factors.

To GodheadsLamentX: Mate, did the title of this video say "Frank Gamble Vs Yngwie Malmsteen"? I dont think so. Why the hell would you bring him into this? Yngwie is a great player, so is Gambale, and they are completely different in style, tone, technique. And the last time I checked Yngwie was the innovator of Neo Classical Rock - Gambale didnt invent his style, so unless you have a valid comment about FG alone, then dont bag Yngwie.

Angelo is 1 of the best technical shredders. Malmsteen is 1 of the best neoclassical shredders(altho i prefer Jason Becker, many more consider Malmsteen the best since he created the genre), and Gambale is 1 of the best fusion players.. (continued in next post)

Probably either Blackmore or Uli Roth or Steve Howe created the genre but YJM made it mainstream 'cause he was the 1st to do it right by not being sloppy or slow and alternate picking voilin riffs. Even Al Dimeola couldn't pull it off(no pun intended).

I'm friends with the guy who produced YJM video. He was an Instructor at GIT. during the shoot Ynqwie kept calling out scales wrong.. they would stop the shoot and tell him he was wrong.. Finally "with the tape running, Yngwie said, I Dont' know music theory everyone thinks I do. i just took the crap from Paganini... so much for your beloved YJM. so thank Paganini... he's the guy who produced YJM

So he doesn't know music theory or scales. Big deal. He still sounds good and he's written some kick ass guitar centric tunes. So now I suppose you'll tell me that he is a crappy alternate picker with sub par vibrato too. Look BB King couldn't tell you what mode yer playing or spell paganni. Does that make him any less deserving of respect and awe? Nothing against GIT or any other music school but lets face it. Like any other profession, as long as you do your homework you'll learn the theory.

But having actual talent doesn't happen overnight. YJM cannot compare to Gambale in theory or composition but I think he holds his own fine in alternate picking and sweeps and his playing is unmistakeable. Just like gambale. For me I like both of them and take inspiration from both irrespective of their music IQ.
