I am trying to understand if 676k people can or cannot tell the difference between backfire/over run and a blown engine. If thats a blown engine....i am santa clause.
@justwonderin100 No smoke from the engine bay, and lack of smoke after that initial puff, as well as no bang. It's not a blown engine. I think something did go wrong though.
@iPROFITDON as long as it didnt blow anything *too* bad, it could explain the lack of engine bay smoke. and it could have stopped after the puff because the engine stalled. damage could be considerable.

Don't forget the differences in mpg and the difference in how long each engine lasts.

Owning a Z06, not a C6 but a C5, I can safely say that this car popped a headgasket spraying too much nitrous on an LS7 which isn't really meant to take much abuse from either boost or nitrous.. (That's why the ZR-1 has a supercharged LS3 and not an LS7) and a tire blowout, seriously guys? The car probably made 700+ whp before it blew up so all these haters that are talking shit have nothing that could've beat it anyway. You need a serious tuner to boost/shoot an LS7 correctly.
Listen about a second after he floors it, you hear the first stage of nitrous kick in, then he grabs another stage and that's when the LS7 just couldn't take it..
I put my car on a dyno once to check A/F ratios that's it. But some ppl get dyno fever & endlessly mess with the engine or just the tune of the engine. Things blow up.
It's a Chevy, it's not blow up on a fucking Dyno test unless you Redline it for like an hour non stop. Not saying it can't but it's so fucking unlike, like seriously why even argue about it.
Also the tire blew up. Look at the spark coming from the left side before the smoke comes.

clearly thats a engine blow. have you ever seen a tire catch on fire on a dyno or anywhere. they heat up and smoke. it most likely had alot of compression and blew a seal. plus if it happend to "blow" the car would have been tilting.
Obviously not a tire, something let go in the engine, you can see the flash and smoke out the left pipe, a blown tire would have made the car visibly move
I think I vote for the exhaust as the source of the sparks and black smoke...not the tire. If it were a tire the engine would keep running until shutdown. The engine stopped as soon as the black smoke came out.

So apparently in a tire there is some a. combustible gas to cause a giant fireball, b. some liquid to vaporize and cause white smoke c. some weird rubber compound that doesn't fly off in shreds but does cause sparks on the dyno drum d. the spinning wheel ONLY shoots smoke, giant flames and sparks out the bottom of the tire. That is a blown tire. Before the explosion, sparks fly from the left rear tire (0:11) and then the burst of smoke from only the left rear side of the car. Last time I checked, the engine is in the front and smoke would start from there, not immediately out the back.

@stlchucko I don't think so pal. Sparks out the exhaust, then flames, and then smoke. He definitely either dropped a valve or broke a piston. Something like that. The only way you get smoke up front is when you break open part of the motor and internal fumes(etc.) get out into the engine compartment. The smoke is from the engine burning a bunch of oil or coolant.
@hmglor i hope you realize that there is a valid reason for why engines blow. Like being a jackass and over working the engine, or running too much n02, or running too much PSI on a supercharger or turbo. So think before you say something like that

@R7300 its causes sparks when the tire was on metal(dyno) and the rim is metal, =sparks fucking dumbass also if you ever blew a tire out there is metal in a tire(wire kinda) with metal wire moving fast=sparks, if the engine blew you would probably see something fly out and the smoke would be coming out of the front not the fucking tire. also Z06 have been stress tested over 8500(or 8000) I don't think its going to blow.

So long as smoke appeared to come from a major contributer of the engine's perfomance (one that keeps the engine from choking on fumes), it is very possible.

clearly thats a engine blow. have you ever seen a tire catch on fire on a dyno or anywhere. they heat up and smoke. it most likely had alot of compression and blew a seal. plus if it happend to "blow" the car would have been tilting.

I think I vote for the exhaust as the source of the sparks and black smoke...not the tire. If it were a tire the engine would keep running until shutdown. The engine stopped as soon as the black smoke came out.

1, if it was the tire there wouldve been a hella lot more smoke/sparks cuz of the rim running on the dyno :D? 2- if it was a tire the car wouldve dropped violently even it it was the 1.5inch of the tire it woulve made the trunk/ hood wobble like mad and oh ya wont u hear the exhaust rumbling down the rpms? it might be a blown engine...but dont these cars have limp mode? (dont know so throw it up here) what if it was a massive backfire and the car went into limp?

Blown Tire??? So apparently in a tire there is some a. combustible gas to cause a giant fireball, b. some liquid to vaporize and cause white smoke c. some weird rubber compound that doesn't fly off in shreds but does cause sparks on the dyno drum d. the spinning wheel ONLY shoots smoke, giant flames and sparks out the bottom of the tire. Weird, I've never seen the exploding fireball and black smoke in any burnouts???? Certainly couldn't be a cylinder blowing and shit coming out the pipe.........

That is a blown tire. Before the explosion, sparks fly from the left rear tire (0:11) and then the burst of smoke from only the left rear side of the car. Last time I checked, the engine is in the front and smoke would start from there, not immediately out the back.

@stlchucko I don't think so pal. Sparks out the exhaust, then flames, and then smoke. He definitely either dropped a valve or broke a piston. Something like that. The only way you get smoke up front is when you break open part of the motor and internal fumes(etc.) get out into the engine compartment. The smoke is from the engine burning a bunch of oil or coolant.

@R7300 its causes sparks when the tire was on metal(dyno) and the rim is metal, =sparks fucking dumbass also if you ever blew a tire out there is metal in a tire(wire kinda) with metal wire moving fast=sparks, if the engine blew you would probably see something fly out and the smoke would be coming out of the front not the fucking tire. also Z06 have been stress tested over 8500(or 8000) I don't think its going to blow.

I heard mention of a piston being ate and causing the smoke to come out throught the exhaust rather than the engine, and this is a valid statement. So long as smoke appeared to come from a major contributer of the engine's perfomance (one that keeps the engine from choking on fumes), it is very possible.

All you need is a pulley change and you can stomp on the enzo. What would do you think? Also guess what no other Ferrari or Lamborghini is above those 2.
