Combat vets deserve significant respect, but don't dare confuse it with the respect for all who serve the mission, the country, the people. After combat, those who care for them, such as benefit clerks and doctors, are disposable not worthy of respect? The remains, physical and symbolic are disposable? Self-absorbed miscreant.

@marcusos1111 to these men it is the Highest HONOR they will ever acheive guarding this grave.. and they have in bad conditions been given the choice to seek shelter.. None have ever left their post ... and this is they CHOICE... since 1937 this grave has been guarded by some of the best this country has.... and god willing it will be guarded until 2937!!!!
@Cricket202 let me ask you this. ARE YOU IN THE ARMY?? if your are not than you have no idea how this works. have you ever heard of being VOLUNTOLD to do something? i have we get to do alot of bullshit while being here. theres no honor on doing to do bullshit.
@nataskaos American history is European history you white boys don't change; wheres the tomb of the slaves that built your civilizations you lazy asses can't build shit without harnessing the power of black people, to this day you can't figure out how the black man built the pyramid
@godscuttingyoudown Typical black person, always entitled to something they are not. If it weren't for the whites, you would still be in Africa eating bugs and fighting opposing tribes with spears and machetes.
@godscuttingyoudown - I usually don't reply like this, but here's something to think about. If the "power of the black people harnessed" is what causes civilizations and Pyramids to be built, why the hell is most of Africa a dump? Is it because that power has to be harnessed by white people in order for it to actually accomplish anything? A bulldozer can do wonders, but unless there is someone at the controls, running it, it just sits in one spot, rusting (and collecting welfare?).
@godscuttingyoudown You sir are an idiot. Does it say the Tomb of the Unknown White Man? No, it does not. It is a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which has no relevance on one's ethnic background. Now go read a book and learn something.
@godscuttingyoudown go read a book or watch nat geo black people didnt build the pyramids the jewish slaves did wich were dark skinned but not all black. just because egypt is in africa doesnt mean every ola ckere is black the majority of south africa is white.... and im sure there is a tomb of the slaves just go to an old cotton field and im sure you can dig up a few skeletons. ignorant piece of shit
Well.. In my honest opinion I think the Army should be guarding the tomb. Oh, wait they are.. I wonder why that is. More badass than the other Branches? I think so.
@kar98k1000 Oh is that right now? so your some big military expert? Well then tell me who was leading the way in the Iraq invasion hmm? Thats right buddy the army 3rd inf was. Who was leading the way in Afghanistan invasion. Again the army was. You do know the Army Rangers are the premier light infantry of the US right? Best trained light infantry in the world. discussion over younglin
@shinydiscoballz1 The CIA was on the ground only days after 9/11. After the Northern Aliance was convinced the US would not bail out on them again, Air Force Combat Controllers were brought in to provide targeting for bombers. This was a month or two before line ground forces entered.
@kar98k1000 besides the special forces the marines are the most elite branch of the United States armed forces are the Marines, just go to hell you asshole
@crzy4euro1979 Sir, the only honorable position in the military is serving along with your countrymen/women taking action on what keeps this country's tradition in the first place. The Old Guard (3rd US INF) recruit kids fresh out of west-point/basic training. They're the pretty boys of the Infantry, hands clean of blood, sweat and tears. so you can say what you want, but you haven't paid your dues like I have so do your research before disrespecting a service member.
@ksek09 It is considered one of the highest honors to serve as a Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Fewer than 20 percent of all volunteers are accepted for training and of those only a fraction pass training to become full-fledged Tomb Guards. This attrition rate has made the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge the 2nd least awarded decoration of the United States Military (the first being the Army Astronaut Badge, no longer being issued)
@ramv36 ahh the wonders of wiki. You people are hilarious. The military is not what it used to be, The honor that was highly regarded in traditionalism has been discarded. which is why in basic, they are doing more combatives than D&C. That being said, I will HIGHLY respect the E-2 who is actually making a difference in the field, taking the suck from his highers than some E-4 with no combos who walks back and forth asking himself why he chose the old guard instead of 10th mountain.
@ksek09 Go to the tomb, and look closely at the chests of the troops there. Not only are most of them enlisted (the guards themselves always are) but many of them have a CIB, some of them with stars. Frankly, I'm surprised a "vet" such as yourself would have such a flippant attitude about these troops.
@crewcutkid I am not knocking on the troops, I am only in disagreement with the position that is considered "highly honorable". Like I said previously, The old guard recruit kids fresh out of basic or west point to go through a strenuous 2 year ait just so you can be the best looking soldier possible?. And old guard being the way they are, they'll present a cib just to make them look good?. you'd only understand if you heard the same speech from old guard recruiters
god do you need to shut up. The difference between the Army and Marines is where they went to basic and their uniforms, with some variation in enlisted rank structure. I fought with Marines in Afghanistan while deployed with the 101st Airborne just last year. We both did a pretty damn good job of killing the bad guys. But to say Marines are "elite" is wrong. Marines are regular enlisted infantry, just like the Army is.
@kar98k1000 "besides the special forces the marines are the most elite branch of the United States armed forces are the Marines"
I mean no disrespect, but you sound uninformed, or may be very too young. Let me help you out. The special forces are part of the Army, not a separate branch. As a Marine, I appreciate your vote of confidence. We consider ourselves elite because of our core values of honor, courage and commitment, as well as the standards of we hold for ourselves. (continued)
@kar98k1000 "With that said, we differ from other branches in that we are a smaller and more mobile branch, and can deploy anywhere within 24 hours. We teach leadership at the lowest levels, among other differences. The most elite (within the Marine Corps) are those with the 0321 Reconnaise MOS. I have fought besides other branches and my brother is an Army soldier. Every unit is as strong as its weakest link. And ever individual is a strong as he allows himself to be; mentally and physically.
@kar98k1000 Whether its Recon, Nave SEALs, Para-Jumpers, Rangers, Delta, etc. They have different missions, different chains of command. Marine Corps recruit training and the School of Infantry are a motherfucker to get through, and I'm led to believe our chain of command put us through more bullshit than the others lol, but each Marine, Airman, Sailor, Soldier is as weak or as strong as he or she CHOOSES to be. Anyone whom chooses to enlist is elite in their own right. Thanks for your support
@a50745 As a U.S. Army Paratrooper, thank you for such a well put together response. My father, grandfather, and great grandfather were all Marines. I am a Paratrooper. Although us Paratroopers like to believe we are better than most (also deployable within 24hrs anywhere on the planet behind enemy lines), we all know that we need our Marine, Sailor, and Airmen brothers to our left and right in order to survive, and we need them to be strong regardless of their job.
Nope, there's different Tiers of Special Forces, Marines are nowhere close to Special Forces... Tier 1 = ST6, DEVGRU, Delta, DEA FAST Team, etc. Tier 2 = US Navy SEALs, and other Groups, Tier 3 = US Army 75th Rangers
@kar98k1000 in my honest opinion, I disagree with you. Because of what you said I also dislike you. Learn the history and you wouldn't say such silly things. Oh wait...you would, you're a devil dumb
At everyone saying that Brian Williams is incredulous and a "libtard:" did you actually hear what he said? He was saying that it's an honor to stand guard at the Tomb. He was saying that they held their posts. I didn't hear anything disrespectful in what he said. This is coming from a proud, PATRIOTIC, "libtard" currently serving the United States.
This video reminded me how great (politics aside) our country is & the pride i feel to see our military display Duty, Honor, & Loyalty, even in the face of mothers nature wrath. this is something our children should see and our society must learn.
I like your description for them, libtards! LOL!!! Truer words were never spoken. Where was this idiot when Katrina blew threw town? I believe their CO gave them permission to secure during the worst of the storm. They respectfully refused his "offer" and walked their beat. I may be mistaken on this, but I believe their CO was so moved that he placed himself into the rotation and walked his beat when his turn came due. God Bless the US Military and the USA!
Typical that a libtard like Brian Williams would be incredulous that a soldier of The Old Guard would walk his post faithfully.... that soldier would have stayed irrespective of the danger, would have felt it a privilege to be there, and will ALWAYS treasure his moment to guard the Tomb during a hurricane. Patriotism and duty apparently is stunning enough for NBC to break into a pre-season football game (really newsworthy) and I
was glad to see it, regardless of the shock in Williams' voice.
