I agree with your statement. I am German, born many years after the ww2. But I still feel weird when I watch this video because I think that our troops and marches do not fit in this ceremony. Seeing German paratroopers vocally marching through this village gives me a bad feeling. I know some will say that this invitation of our troops is a symbol for the future and an act of friendship, but I think that it is inappropriate.
German Paratroopers marching through Ste. Maire Eglise?!?!?! (They were in the lead, before 101 came along). Holy shit, the times they have changed! If memory serves D-Day really didn't work out all that well for the Germans.
@BunkerGearGal dude i cannot imagine how dehumanizing insulting and hard to live with it must be be man of airborne who fought the nazis saw what they did to jews etc, watched their closest friend killed etc go through all that live with it 40 or whatever years then have swallow pride forced march behind your eniemies now? wtf how degrading, they should had german march diff day thats degrading insulting beyond belief i cant believe how disrespectful to our vets thiswas poor vets i in shock
I have 'old abe' on my right shoulder. My dead friend has that CMH around his neck. As an Infrantry Officer in Vietnam, I would not have the courage to kill 80 plus enemy soldiers.

Yes and no. No, it didn't work out for german forces. Yes, because it was the start of the liberation of Europe and Germany from the Nazis.
