Nice video. What are your thoughts on the Rockies this year? i think its la nina but there hasn't been much snow or perspiration yet. it seems to be dry. i think the SOI is around 20 now? thanks from a skier trying to understand.
Thank you soooooo much! I am actually a high school student about the take the AP Enviornmental Science test, and even with all the readings and activites we did, I could never master this concept, but this video cleared it all up. Thank you SOOOOOOO much!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! im in university doing a weather course and i have my final tomm, and this video has helped me understand what i couldn't after hours of reading! so thank you!
thank you so much, this really really helped me. you taught this better in 8 minutes than my teacher at the University of Arizona did in a month. Thanks so much!
hi and many thanks for your explanation of such a complex phenomena. i was fine with following it until 7:02 as i think you repeated La Nina for both examples of typical weather conditions!
THANK YOU for this vid! We have an assignment in school (sweden) and I've been searching around online on both google and youtube to find information. Seen a lot of different vids but this one summed up el nino/la nina soo much better than all of those. So Thank you!
I think Im gonna check out what else vids you have uploaded here.
It was particularly good to have your USA focused perspective, Living in Scotland it is quite hard to relate to this phenomenon. Crazy weather here right now!!!!
Thank you so much, at uni in my final year and was STILL not getting this!! It is always a subject that is poorly taught and I'm pretty sure I have now grasped it!!
@Fox250R No problem.... I would say both. The NW is the entry point for almost all low pressure systems in the US during an La nina setup. So you are going to see a much colder and much wetter winter. I would compare it to the 07/08 winter up there that caused some of the worst rain and snow in the area.
Thank you so much. I have an oceanography exam tomorrow, and now I understand El Nino and La Nina a lot more!

Here on the Eastern seaboard of Australia, we have experienced prolonged periods of rain in our summer months. Is La Nina related to this in any way?

so lanina is getting worse? ive been hearing its not going to bad as bad now...
Fox250R 1 year ago
@Fox250R According to the Sept SOI values (of +25) it looks like this could be the strongest La Nina event since 1955-56.
Rule of thumb: the lower the number the stronger the El nino. The higher the number the stronger the La nina. +25 is very high in this instance.
