I'm impressed after cutting the tin I would have thought it would have been as dull as a spoon but no... it still past the paper test! I am going to have to get one now!
Many years ago (around 1992) when I was a young man I worked in a cutlery shop that sold the Opinel. Almost 20 years later the Opinel doesn't appear to have changed much if at all. Thanks for sharing!
@leekk70 I use a Lansky crock stick system, reviewed if you look, type lansky crock stick knife sharpener into the search box, simple to use & for the money a good VFM system, small & easy to carry compared to some of the big brother types.
@walthanas I wanted a knife for some rough use & went for a bigger size blade than I normaly use. As for the tin can ? backpack camping, bushcraft etc will want a good working tool not a fancy looker so like myself looking for a tool It needs to pass a basic rough use test.

@MrFermanaghman Not sure what you mean but they are tough working knives so yes within It's limits. Same as any knife I suppose.

That's a serious knife.

I had these knives years ago.. their not bad for a cheap knife, but the best tip i can give you is..
The part where the blade is fixed to the handle (where the ferrel ends) is an
endgrain.. you need to soak that in varnish, the handle has a very light coat, but
that 'endgrain' is bear.. if you dont, water gets in and the blade will depart from
the handle!

Interesting use you have for knives, Darrall! I don't see many people cutting cans with them. ;-)
Seriously though, I have had an smaller Opinel, but I don't have much use for that size (12) of knife. Nice review though.
