Sandra was my dream goddess before she divorced Michael Cretu. But I still love her songs from the 80's and 90's. Her songs are very different recently and I regret that all of her wonderful things are no longer there anymore. I really really really miss Sandra of the 80's...
@DivineMylene Oh no, she still has lovely songs-I agree, very different, but necessarily & she's proved she can survive without him. In fact, though I loved 2002's 'The Wheel Of Time' album quickly, the last 2 were harder, but all they needed was months of patience to get in there & now I totally dig 'The Art Of Love' & 'Back To Life' albums, apart from that horrible 'Put Some 80s In' track in which she namechecked the nasty untalnted Madonna bitch. Also the b-sides were great. Others take note.

I'm not a big fan of pop music but can't help feeling that here, in the UK, the charts have been missing something quite special for a long time. She is undoubtedly a master of her craft,
@SMALLCODNCHIPS You put it brilliantly. Germany had two top talents to give our best UK performers sleepless nights-Alphaville and Sandra here. Both made fantastic synth-based intelligent, unpredictable and memorable music. The Uk treats its own brill stuff (Kim Wilde, Duran, OMD etc) like shit and only bothers with a few of its (less flattering own) while patting the backs of every bloody US act wanted or not. This scintillating epic tune is typical of the masterpiece it's off-all sound single!
@TheMjblades Well, if pop was produced with more thought and depth we would be happier. There is far too much disposible material around these days. Another pop icon I admire is Claudia Brukken as she has such a distinctive, characterful voice. I'm actually a trance and heavy rock fan! I'm confused? No, just open minded.
@SMALLCODNCHIPS I agree, forgot to mention her, but that's only cos I'm heard little of the stuff she did since the sole 1985 CD Propaganda ever made, however now they have remastered her 1991 solo album & done a box set of some of her other later stuff, including her Onetwo work with OMD Paulo, plus her Act CD is now out (but terribly expensive for something that might not be great across all tunes on the album). Good for you liking other stuff apart from hard rock-we need more open-minded!
