The U.S invaded Canada (then British, still commonwealth) in 1812 and 1813, and both invasions were repelded and much of New York and Michigan were occupied. The U.S's biggest victory was after the war ended and after Washington was burned. Ether way Canada, the UK (and commonwealth) and the U.S have been Allies and partners since!

@MikH990 Just saying we tried to invade Canada because the crown was using their navy to cut off America's trading routes, also they were capturing US ships and sailors and demanding ransom for their return

@caboose176545 The reason we cut off the trade routes was because where your supplying the French when Napoleon wars where going on and the British was involved so if we cut off supply routes they lose.

You guys got pissy and attacked canada which we stopped.

@ViDeOMaStErPaUl We were trading with both Britain AND France, when President Washington made his farewell address, he clearly stated to congress to be neutral in world affairs, exactly what we were doing, Britain never had a justified reason to capture American ships and sailors, which the reason why we invaded Canada, yes we failed, but Britain also invaded the states, which the U.S did stop as well.

@caboose176545 Like i said you were supplying the enemy YES you where neutral but in the World Wars we stopped germany from getting supplies from other countries. Its war we needed to win so cutting supply lanes ( Which is a commonly used tactic) was one of the ways to beat napoleon. We didn't want to start a war with you but you left us no choice, and at the time capturing the ships was the only way to do so.

Ironicly you stopped trading with france anyway and focused trading with the UK lol.
