  • I am not willing to die for the surgery I'm not ready to die but my health is on a steady decline and this is the only thing I can do for my kids so that I can be around longer!

  • @mom2bgtwins05 Its not the only thing you can do. Also - this surgery should not be done for anyone else - not even for your kids. I understand you are worried, and want to be around for your children - But, your kids need you around and even more they need you around healthy. I am saying in this video that you need to be ready for anything. You need to be ready for the results both good and bad. IF you want to be around for your children, good, thats what a good mom does - just make sure

  • @mom2bgtwins05 **part two - make sure this is the last resort, and you have taken all other measures nec to be there for them. This surgery is not a fix all, is all I am trying to say here. This surgery could cause you more problems than you have now - or it could make you perfect and all will be great - Only God knows the answer. I am only giving my followers and those who straggle and watch my video to be well informed and understand how this is a surgery - and a surgery is serious.

  • I have two young ones and and wonderful husband. That is why I want the surgery so I can live to see my kids grow and grow old with my husband. As weird as it sounds I am not scared of dying during or shortly after surgery but I am worried that the older I get the more my body will have issues. Have you had any complications since your surgery?

  • @lts4thewin I have had many many complications from RNY. I have posted a video in a red shirt where I explain them all - lol too many to list here...

  • Hello I will be going for my first visit to the surgeon sometime soon and I was wondering if I could have your opinion. I am 23 weighing around 400 Lbs. I already have high blood pressure. I have tried working out and eating right but I have not lost any weight. The doctor told me with family history like diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure on both sides of my family that I should have the surgery. I was wondering was the surgery worth it to you? Part 1

  • Wow,I have been looking for something like this for years. All I find on the internet is all good things about this surgery. My daughter was about 20 when she had the gastric bypass.Yes she was told of the risk but also in the same breath she was told she was young and will do fine. She has had numerous surgeries and ulcers and ect, ect. Now she has to have a hysterectomy. She is 24 and diabled.Think about it,no,really think about doing this.

  • I had it in 11-2001. I regret it everyday. I am 32 and basically disabled. Poor vitamins low blood cell counts. Always sick tiered vomiting ....ect.. its aweful

  • That is sad! I had my surgery 1/27 and I thank god that I came threw ok!

  • My prayers go out to the family... I too know the risks and dealth is possible. I had videos left for my kids if anything was to happen and my husband did also.. I am 12 days post op and very happy I made it through but also sad for the ones who havent... thanks for the video..

  • Condolences to the families of the ones lost; Thank you for addressing this issue, it is something that needs to be thoroughly considered before any surgery. I agree with what you said, and even though i was scared as alot of people were, and suffered complications after surgery, I also would still say yes, because my weight was killing me from the health problems that it caused.

  • That's was surgery not survey ;)

  • I just wanted to say I think most of us know what could happen but as a pre op person myself I try to focus on the positive stuff.

I have 3 beautiful children and 2 of which are autistic and for me to make the decision to have they survey was very hard as I do know the possibilities.

I can only pray to god, and have my faith that I will come through this and be around for my children for a long time to come, and be able to enjoy life again for me and for them.

  • @Claremusic1974 You need to focus on the positive absolutely. This was posted two months ago and I hope if you had surgery it went well. I am two years post op with many times on my way to death and came back from it. My videos are not sugar coated they are honest and blunt. I got too many suagr coated answers before my surgery and I vowed to post differently after my surgery. The reason for this video was at a request from the family. She was a beautiful woman and I granted the request.

  • I am pre-op and scared because it is worth it to me - just balancing that with being a Mom. I know that you will not release the name. I am always curious of the age, health and weight of the person who has passed. I know that is very silly : /

  • @WLSFaith Oh no, it is certainly not silly. I am sorry for the delay. She was younger. And not nearly as heavy as some are. In my opinion of the facts, the reason was at the hands of the surgeon and a mistake that was made on his part. But only God knows that. The reason for this video is to make sure you have decided this surgery is your last resort, not your first. Good luck to you, and God Speed.

  • By the way, I am sorry for the loss. It is a sad fact that death happens from surgery. I don't mean to "stomp on the ashes" of those who have passed. I just think we all need to keep in mind that this is the end result of many many many other elective surgeries as well. Is it sad...yes of course. But like you said, it is just very important to be comfortable with the risk before you sign that consent form and get rolled into that OR.

  • @Bamboo2you I am glad you countered with a concern for the person who loss their life. My reason for videos like this are to make sure people face the facts. I am not a doctor, I am not a person with statistics on other surgeries. This video was done in honor of the beautiful woman we lost. Also - The reason for this woman passing could not have happened if she was having a knee replacement. MY point on Youtube is to be Blunt and honest. You will not get a sugar coated video from me.

  • @Bamboo2you ****Also**** One of the many reason for this video is to make people aware. Too many people turn a blind eye to the facts. Too many people look at this as a first, second, third, even tenth resort and not the LAST resort. This surgery is not a fix all, and it certainly does not cure the reason why someone is fat. I watched someone make a decision in 15 minutes and didnt look back. This is NOT a 15 minute decision. This is a Face ALL the facts and move forward decision. God Bless

  • I agree that each person really needs to weigh the pros/cons, but I don't think there is a need to scare people. It's an unfortunate fact that you can die from ANY surgery. Honestly, the complications with RNY are what could be compared to having a total joint replacement, which is also an "elective" procedure. People die in the OR from complications of that as well. I think we just need to keep it all in perspective and not really ride out this "super negative" percetion that WLS gets.

  • good topic- I am glad I had RNY but my sis in law did not- she had complications--- and can't enjoy what she has gained. My husband has always said-- you can step off a corner and get hit by a bus---

  • It's very sad to hear when things like this happen, however I think it absolutely is worth the risk. My mom had a stroke 16 years ago from not minding her health and diabetes, this past summer she passed away. She spent 16 years practically a vegetable and I took care of her for those years. Not to sound mean, but I don't want to do to others what she did to me and my family. I want to be there for others, not half-there... so it's SO worth the risk.

  • condolences to you and family!!!!!

  • I want to thank you for doing this. I know the family really appreciates it. I am the one that messaged you on FB. She was the brightest light in the room

  • I am so sorry for this loss. I lost my WLS friend who went through the whole journey with me including the 6 months preop period. She was just 5 months post op and only 34 years old. It's been a horrible blow to me, and I feel guilty every day that I am here and she is not, and cannot enjoy the perks of her journey. Thanks for sharing. and yes, I am grateful every day.......... I have a long ways to go, but 105lbs are gone and worth every day of struggle to get there!

  • I met a woman at walmart while getting meds, her husband didnt make it to the recovery room either. She lost him 5 months ago. She said that it was proven to be the surgeons fault. I didnt know what to say except that I was so sorry. I am saying a prayer for your friend and her family.

  • Thanks for the difficult update. Thoughts and prayers for the family.

  • Im so sorry to hear this sad news. Im pre op Feb. 7th and this scares me to death.

  • @HelloKimmyCraze How did it go? Send me a message and let me know if you need any help with any questions.

  • My prayers go out to this person. This is why you really need to research your surgeon and his know his experience. I am 7 years post op and thank God that the only minor complication that I have had is iron defieciency(which is being controlled now). Would I do it again, knowing the risk? YES....This is a serious surgery and it should not be taken lightly. My prayers go out to the family for their loss..We never know when our time is up. We just have to be ready when the time comes.

  • AWWW SO SORRY ABOUT THAT, AND I WILL PRAY FOR THE FAMILY, SO VERY SORRY .
