wow that is one clear video dude..very nice..those G E engines look and sound so powerful but what scenery..gosh that place is a paradise for sure..the color of that water and such plush green mountains.
Hallo, ik vroeg me af of er een zweefvliegclub in Sint Maarten, want ik ben een zweefvliegtuig piloot, hier in Edmonton, Canada (im orginally uit Macedonië).
Are you sure thats st maarten because the runway markings don't match because i know that they are 09 for the maho beach side and 27 the other and i notice in 1:37 that its rwy 10 which doesn't seem right
@tburden09 runway bearings change almost each year. when the second or last digit reaches a numeric value in which it can be rounded up, the runway name will change. And yes this is st maarten!!!
How the heck did he get off the ground so quickly! I know the runway is short at St. Maarten, but never ceases to amaze me how quickly these birds leap off the runway, when on others they use the entire 2+ miles.
@flyinghow 747's usually use more runway for takeoff and rotation. From St. Maarten, it is not a direct flight as it has to make a stop somewhere in between there and the destination, This means the 747 is underloaded and light meaning it can takeoff using less thrust and quicker.
@travermaster lol interest you ask that, check my video and you would know the meaning of living close to a runway :) i live on the nearby island of St Kitts and the view from my house is like no other
By the way, do you guys ever notice when the jets power up - it almost always revs up and then stops revving for 2-4 seconds before full throttle? Is there any reason for that or a figment of my imagination? Does anyone know?
@seatgurus It is not a figment of your imagination. These engines have one or two compressor-turbine spools and one fan-compressor spool. Additionally, there are adjustable vanes between the turbine rotors to control how much of the energy in the combustion gases is directed at the turbine blades. Before full throttle, the pilot needs to be sure the compressor-turbine spools are spun up and stable before upping fuel flow and cranking on the vanes to get full thrust.
@SirDeanosity the speeds of the spools for an individual engine (because the speeds are a function of the amount of fuel that is being fed to the engine) are not as important as the the amount of thrust each engine is generating. pilots let engines settle around 50% before going full thrust to check that each engine is working properly (if engines are at 50% 50% 50% 10% n1 (no throttle response on 4) that side of the craft is getting 40% less power than the other side compared to 95% 95% 95% 10%
