All I can say is you must have a lot of energy to go through the whole process WHILE doing a vlog with such high production values. Can't wait to get to to the end of the series to see how it turns out. Although, here it is 7 months later and I haven't heard of your project. I hope that's not a bad sign!
Yeah, you did luck out. If I didn't have those action figures next to my computer, who knows what I would have resorted too! (ps. if I ever resort to miming...send me an angry, angry letter, dude.)
I have a question. How do you know what studios to contact, how to contact, or where to even find them? Most of what I hear is that never take unsolicited stuff.
I have an answer. Just go to who you know. If you know someone at Lionsgate...contact Lionsgate! Use what you got. It's true...most places do not take unsolicited stuff. But if you know someone personally at one of the "big places" and your stuff has some buzz...I'm sure they will listen!!! I got my project in front of some major execs because I knew someone who knew someone who became an exec assistant. The quality of my project took it the rest of the way.
For distributers and financiers...it can be. Why? Because a movie poster is typically the first thing people see before they decide they will watch the movie or not. Same thing with a DVD cover. Think about it. How many movies have you decided to watch or not by glimpsing at the poster and DVD cover! That is why it's a powerful tool. I would never say that is all you need. But it can DEFINATELY help. I've actually read this bold approach in a few film business books.
You are opening my mind to filmmaking my friend. Half of what you said, never would have cross my mind. You have an agent and attorneys to protect you in your work?
Thanks! Yeah...every level is like a chess game and poker game combined! So much waiting...but the waiting becomes a tactic. So much evaluation of the "pieces", but the evaluation of the "pieces" becomes fruitless if you don't move at the right time. At some points, you gotta be "ballsy", at other points you gotta play it meek and humble. I hope this helps your endeavors, man. For reals. Thanks for the props! I have an attorney...but getting an agent is a task worthy of an agent itself!
This is a great little series. I love that there are like a bunch more weeks to the right there!!! What happens next!? You could even release this on DVD eventually (the youtube series) Or when your animation gets made, it could be a special feature. =D
You could do a lot with this. It's actually happening for you. Most people who are watching this are very interested and soon someone important enough will notice. You are making ver wise use a "free" service. You might not realize it but you are actually making the best out your situation. Maybe you underestimate the opportunity or are expecting something to happen over night, but there's still hope. Keep it going.
Not sure if there's a good reason to get an animation studio to do a movie poster - especially a production company. Maybe find a graphic designer who freelances movie posters?
The "Good Reason" is now he has a relationship with an animation studio who has time invested in his idea. So at the very least it is a good networking move.

nice choice of yourself as godzilla.
When you started that sentence I thought you were going to tell the story with interpretive dance... or mime. I guess we lucked out!

Are you serious? A poster gets a better reaction than a script or a treatment?!
