  • Good tone, great bassit....

  • Fantastic...gorgeous tone!!!

  • this song was accredited to Miles, not written by, however.

  • excelent!!!!

  • Awsome playing!

  • man really nice solo and really nice taste!

  • is that a smith?

  • @chasemi97 Nope, that be a Pedulla MPV

  • Perhaps this is the only good bass solo on Youtube.

  • I like his Pedulla

  • Very good. A little too good for my taste.

  • Too bad ´the drummer took over at the end. I would have loved to hear Grant walking.

  • althought i dont want you guys to think i dont like this solo,

hes actually a very good souding bass player,. just needed to clarify this.

  • last time I looked the Buzz (fretless version) was going for as high as $3,500.00(USD)

  • god pentabuzzes basses are ugly, but fuck they sound good. Dunno what happened to pedulla when they designed, they usually do very nice instruments but this one... It's like alembics... Great tone btw

  • Nice to see a bassist just playing. No tapping, no slapping, nothing but good old fashion playing.

  • Slap is just about as old fashion as finger style.

  • I see nothing wrong with slapping.

  • it's all about context man, you wouldn't see a guitar player use tapping in a jazz solo, well you might but it would be lame.

  • stanley jordan, just search for it.

  • amen

  • look at victor wooten, tell him slapping dont sound good.

i hate seeing bass players just doing there job, cause thats simply all there doing is their job. i like seeing some creativity on how people play the bass.

theres been millions of bass players who can just play the bass, but only a few good bassplayers who have been innovators. id personally like to see more slapping and tapping. because if i wanted to hear straight playing id listen to the old records where they do it best,

  • But he is doing very complex things with just finger style. Complex theory wise at least. Theory that's probably wouldn't matter towards bassist just playing... well bass.

  • I would respond appropriately, but your last sentence didn't quite make sense.

  • "Theory that's probably wouldn't matter towards bassist just playing... well bass."

Theory that probably wouldn't matter to a bassist who's intentions was to only hold down the basic groove and harmony.

  • Alright, I understand. Thanks.

  • Basically what you just said was "Hey to me the melody someone creates doesn't mean shit, I just like to hear tonal innovations such as slapping."

Improvisation isn't about technique or tone. It's about improvising (the MUSIC).

  • @Gettinghitonattheban I know right!?

  • @Gettinghitonattheban Tradition is pretty sweet eh

  • Hot Pocket

  • its not a rapture....its a buzz

  • Actually it's an MVP-4 (MVP is the fretted version of the Buzz). YOu can tell that it's a fretted bass if you listen closely and look at his fingers. I know because I own a Buzz and an MVP. Great basses and a nice solo.

  • Its a Pedulla rapture I think...Starting at 1,700 USD due to hand made craftmanship :-)

  • this guy sorta looks like a younger relative of Jim Gaffigan. I love Pedulla basses. nice traditional style solo.

  • ???
