but what is sad that there is no rock underground scene in slovakia, probably only electronical (and drum n base) music has something that should be called underground scene here.
@WildValdo its starnge really, its the same in places like spain and other countries in europe, theres no major bands coming out of them, not major indie bands anyway. i wonder why. slovkia is a wealthy counrty, why arent the lads over there buying fenders and gibsons and giving it a go?

Have you listened to any of the Libertines stuff? The Libertines were the best British band of the noughties, hands down. Pete's solo stuff is also brilliant. Babyshambles are okay, but a step below The Libs and Pete's solo work. What is this 'one good song' you speak of then?
@PadC93 Yeah I like The Libertines I was talking about his solo stuff. I'm not with it. It's seems like a lot of drug filled emptiness to me. He can do a lot better . Trust me. Drug abuse is not good for a musicians soul. I get the feeling he could be amazing but we may not see that eventuate. I'm not into this burning up brilliantly like roman candles crap that he is obsessed with. I like a long drawn out fruitful career from artists and watch them evolve. That's special..
I also believe there is more to come from Pete and that he has to get clean before we can see the best of him. I know drug abuse is not good for a musicians 'soul', or anyone for that matter. And yeah, I know what you mean, their is a certain sense of isolation and depression to his solo stuff that you feel when listening to it. But the lyrics are meaningful, ambiguous and at times just brilliant.

@PadC93 I meant that you can't judge him by his music and his music alone, because he hasn't made it so that that is the only thing you can judge him on. The sad truth is that to a lot of people the first thing people will think of is his drug addiction, and I think you could rightly judge him on that. I'm not a big fan of him or The Libertines, but I don't think they're bad, they/he have made catchy music.
I don't think he's a genius either. I think that words thrown around far too easily.

Drug abuse is not good for a musicians soul. I get the feeling he could be amazing but we may not see that eventuate. I'm not into this burning up brilliantly like roman candles crap that he is obsessed with. I like a long drawn out fruitful career from artists and watch them evolve. That's special..

I also believe there is more to come from Pete and that he has to get clean before we can see the best of him. I know drug abuse is not good for a musicians 'soul', or anyone for that matter. And yeah, I know what you mean, their is a certain sense of isolation and depression to his solo stuff that you feel when listening to it. But the lyrics are meaningful, ambiguous and at times just brilliant.

The sad truth is that to a lot of people the first thing people will think of is his drug addiction, and I think you could rightly judge him on that. I'm not a big fan of him or The Libertines, but I don't think they're bad, they/he have made catchy music.
I don't think he's a genius either. I think that words thrown around far too easily.

Look at some of the great bands over the years, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Experience, The Stone Roses, The Verve, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, The Libertines.... all of them have had problems with drugs at one point or another... it's just for some reason Doherty gets all the negative media attention. I'm not sitting here trying to tell people that they shouldn't listen to The Libertines, and I'm aware music is subjective. My issue was with the term "genius" being thrown around. Or that people should judge Doherty solely on his music. And I'm not sure saying "not a genius" or "not one of the best lyricists of all time" is passing judgement.

Funny, I don't even bother reading biographies about Pete Doherty and I'm the one who actually likes his music. For a hater you sure do seem to invest quite a bit of extra time studying this guy's life. i don't much care whether he liked boy bands or not, he'd only be about 10 years old when new kids were out anyway and his tastes/influences have obviously changed in his adult life.
