  • Great Information. My wife has PCOS. It's hard on me to have to respond to her mood swings. It's like she is bipolar but she is not. I pray to God all the time that she get's better. We've been trying to have a child for the past 5 years. No luck. Thank you and keep forging ahead living life to the fullest.

  • Thank you so much for making this!

  • i Feel u, have the same thing! but actually found out because coudn't get pregnant! so after 3.5 yrs & trying everything i could got PG!!!!!!!!! Yeay!!!!!!!!

  • I can never loose weight, and I feel horrible because all my friends are so skinny. You have inspired me to loose weight. Thank you so very much.

  • Hey! I know you hear it alot but I KNOW WHAT UR GOING THO! My doc told me i needed to lose weight and that's what i already knew but with PCOS it's soooo hard! But i have lost 67 lbs in the last year!!! I know how hard it is to hear you need to lose weight still when your trying soooo hard! but i just wanted to let you know it is possiable! i have been doing a low carb diet for a while (40g) and it helped with my weight my mood and helped my periods.

  • i have it too.. i want to do this excursive as well. thanx!!!..

  • Honey,I feel you from London and just wanna encourage you to just start doing as much as you can.Take your jogging to be a new way of life.Doing 5 to 6days a week sounds like a lot,but if you ignore the fears and concerns and focus more on just doing the workouts, your imbalances in you pancreas will correct and you will be fit and glad you committed yourself to it,coz ur gonna be looking younger and feel better. Thanks .Wish you the best.xx

  • I was just diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for your videos!

  • I would not be able to put out 2 hours of cardio every day on 1200 calories a day for 6 days a week...unless that was all I had to do (no job, no obligations). That is unreasonable.

  • ohh i feel u my friend i have been diagnosed when i was 10 i had my first period when iw as 9 and the struggeling went on and on now iam 260 pounds and i have ognored my situation for years going on and off the metamorphin and birth control pills this year for the first time i have stopped ignoring it sometimes my face turns blue it has this weird color different than my face and it is so hard to loose the weight but ur video made me feel like iam not the only one suffering thank you

  • did anybodys hair go from straight to really curly...mine did due to pcos

  • YEP!

  • yeah i gain like 50lbs i was diagnosed in 04 been on metformin n different dr. it sucks pancreas huh?? mine is from my adrenal gland lol im on 20000 mg a day

  • I have PCOS and know what you are going through. But for your doctor to tell you that your not working hard enouph is crap! If your running 2 miles a day and working out then that is all you can do. Dieting is extremely hard just hang in there. and remember that every person is different. I feel for you. I was diagnosed when I was 19 years old and am now 30 years old. Just hang in there and never give up! keep doing what your doing!

  • 30 to 40 lb weight gain due to PCOS is GOOD! most women gain at least 80lbs or more! you are insulting to those of us that are really impacted by it !!!!!!

  • Yeah it's not fun process,i got PCOS after two kids,so it's not ez to be on a diet or excercise regularly with 2 kids

  • I'm 25 and I've been diagnosed with PCOS for 3 years. I also have the weight gain issues as you do and I've found the only thing that works for me is to eat low glycemic index foods. You may be extremely carb sensitive. Moderate exercise combined with a low gi eating plan (such as South Beach Diet) will do wonders.

Just give the SBD a try and see if you don't melt 10-15 lbs in two weeks. I feel your pain, but I want to encourage you.

  • Hey I was diagnosed about a year ago and didn't start my treatment until like summer 2008. I was takin metformin and I had a lot of the same side effects as you and my doctor immediately took me off of them because my body was respondin negatively to the medicine and i had a reverse effect and actually made my symptoms worse, so he changed it and prescribed a new medicine which i have not started takin yet, but as soon as i do I will let you know how it goes and maybe you can check into it.

  • first, ur on the right track by wanting 2 do something for ur illness. keep on exercising and take dong quai and chiro-inositol, also avoid all forms of sugar such as pastas and breads, no potatoes, no gluten (wheat) and no caffine (starcucks). do this and u can reverse pcos!!! I know it may seem like too much but u can get used to anything... trust me. an added bonus, you'll be skinny again!!!

  • Hi im 26,I was diagnosed wif PCOS bout 2yrs now.Went wif 89.5kgs managed to loose to 78kgs in 3 mth time by jes cuttin dwn my carb.I didnt bother to work out Im stil b2n 78-80ks.Neva thought it was dis serious.Lately ive noticed lots of body & facial hair growth, male patern hair fall and dark patches.Which jes make me feel not to wake up every nite i go to bed.Wats not visible is hurtin les then wats visible. I was told keepin dwn my body weight does help very much. Im going start to workout.

  • i have pcos also, i am 24 my husband use to be a personal trainner and put me on a 1200 cal diet and i worked out 6 days a week and did cardio for an hour a day and i lost 30 lbs in 6 months its hard but it works stick with it i have went off and have gained 10 in a year and 1/2 not bad but sucks just wanted to let you know your not the only one i feel for ya

  • best of luck, try to work out regularly and eat right by cutting the carbs. take your meds as well in order to any effect.

  • 1,200 is the bare minimum the human body should take in ever.

I think I have this, I think I've had it since I was 11. The -cough- Facial hair and being obese. It isn't diagnosed, but I'm bringing it up my next doctors visit.

Just one thing, the exercise you do seems to be A LOT of exercise, so good luck with that... but I thought that the Metformin is supposed to help with weight loss?

  • I have PCOS too. Thank you for sharing.

  • I have PCOS as well. I was diagnosed around 11 years ago. I started my period when I was 11 and just didn't have one again for at least 2 more years, so my pediatrician sent me to a gyno who diagnosed me. Every treatment med makes me sick to the point I cannot take them. Metformin gives me diahrea so bad (like 25 times a day). I weigh over 300 now, and just seem to keep gaining. It is a horrible medical condition. You are very lucky to only weigh 165.

  • i was diagnosed today...im 16 and i have mainly the same problems =/

  • i have PCOS and was diagnosed during may of this year. i feel so upset and at times depressed that i have this condition and constantly fear i'll never have my own children. not having a regular cycle makes me feel less of a young woman and just even more angry. how do you go about improving the condition and your attitude towards it? also, what would you recommend to improve the symptoms? thank you for posting these videos it makes me feel happy knowing i'm not the only one.

  • Im 21 years old & i was just diagnosed with PCOS in August. I currently weigh 245 so I went 2 my doctor (very concerned) for a physical & told her my Symptoms she right away suspected that i had PCOS. i had never even heard of that. I was very scared & was hoping that the lab tests results would be good but instead my doctor confirmed to me that in fact i do have PCOS. Im now trying 2 do a lot of research of this condition, take my metformin & lose weight. I find your videos very helpful. thanx

  • You should think about a detox. How about amalgam, did you have fillings or did your mother have some? I am convinced PCOS is a problem with a poisoned liver that cannot handle the hormones as well as it should. Also poisons like mercury can affect the pancreas. I too have PCOS and I am detoxing.

Wish you all the best, chin up!

  • Hello,

I just found out that I have PCOS last June when I went to see a fertilty doctor, I kenw there was a reason that I wasn't getting pregnant. I have mood swings, missed periods, pelvic and back pain and I'm very depressed a lot. I tried fertility treatments and got know luck of getting preg. Oh yea and I've gained weight. I went from 115 to 137 in like 6 months. Afeter watching teh vidoes of other women this kinda made me feel better that there are others. Thanks for your stories.

  • hey I found out I have pcos last year. I am starting to take it more serious now since I know what it can do to you. I am going to join the gym again when I get back from vacation. I need to lose weight ,I also get hair and I am forgetful too. I am sorry people ask you if your pregnant. I need some motivation. So keep the videos up and I am looking foward to seeing some more.

  • Hey, I have PCOS. I've known about it since 2002. I also have had significant weight gain, I didn't get my friend sally for THREE MONTHS. not one single drop. I got really bloated during those months, but I didn't get it. I am also hypoglycemic due to the PCOS. So now I am on yasmin which is a birth control pill and I WAS on Metformin, but I got the worst possible side effects and I had to get off of it and now my doctor won't prescribe me another med. It suxs. oh well

  • actually i think you are my motivation!!

    i love you for this.

  • I have pcos and NOT overweight. Am i the onoely ione that isnt overweight??

  • I wasnt over weight till just recently, I would just advice to eat healthy now before it gets too hard!

  • @liselotje3 do you play a sport? Don't eat sugar? I wasn't overweight til I stopped playing soccer plus stress.

  • @liselotje3 i do too but am not overweight im a uk size 8 and weigh just under9 stone xx

  • Try a high protein and moderate to low carb diet combined with your medications and exercise. Your diet should be made of low glycemic foods , lots of protein and the occcasional starch or high carb food. i have. it has worked for me and many other women that I personally know has it. Good luck and blessings to you !

  • YES! I did the same thing you're suggesting and it really helped too. I ate several meals a day that consisted of 20grams of carbs each. That in combination with BCP and Spironolactone helped me lose 70ILBs in 7 months. Also with my hormones in balance my body hair got finer and sparser, and my memory came back.

  • Eating this way cured my PCOS. It is the best treatment.

  • .. i recommend that anyone suffering from PCOS, nd are concerned about their weight should try it, its all about healthy eating, it's definatly worth a read, for more info just mail me.

  • im 18yrs old nd jst found out iv pcos last wk, i am overweight, not very badly, but i am, hav tried alot of diets do so much excercise, but NOTHING!! luckily, i know of 2 other girls who had PCOS and were fairly heavy girls, dey started dis diet called da 'insulin-resistance diet' nd wel lost a gud 6 stone each over a yr or 2, nd honestly look like models!! another diet called the 'holoford' diet works with the same principle. i only started it yesterday, and the foods seem great,i recommend ..

  • HEY,i know how you feel girl. i am 125kg 5ft9 and got PCOS. i have hair near my chin and uppper lip and on my chest. i havn't had my period for 2 months and get really bad pains. i really want to have a child but can't. i know how u feel don't worry we can beat this stupied thing its not gonna beat us.

  • I hope you get to your goal. I am much bigger than you. I would love to weigh what you weigh. I think I have pcos too. I need to go to the doctor. I really think I have it. I am glad I can put a name to it. But also upset that no doctor ever told me about it.

  • you seem like such a nice person, i was feeling sad until i thumbled on some of ur blogs. they sure made me feel better to see you so strong regardless of what u've been through. i'm a male and i know what PCOS is , no need to feel embarrassed. i hope ur health is now better.

  • holy shit, you're cute

  • I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 years old, I'm 20 now and although I don't have the syndrome anymore because I have regular periods, I still take metformin. Another thing that a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I have lost over 50 pounds, but it's still a struggle. I'd have to say that your PCOS seems to be alot worse than mine, I can lose weight if I go to the gym 3 times a week..how is your calorie counting going? I'm on a 1500 calorie limit!!

  • I just found out that I have PCOS , its nice to see someone else my age with it . I sub'd , and would like to talk to you more about it .

  • Hi, I just saw your blog. I thought I would let you know that my physcian, Dr. W.F. Howard has had a breakthru with PCOS weightloss. He discovered by chance that the combination of FLUTAMIDE and METFORMIN together block the 2 pathways that the insulin need to add on the weight. Flutamide literally blocks the testosterone production. Med schools in Italy and Spain have tested it and proven it works. His website is simply wfhoward dot com...since we cannot post webaddresses.

  • Hey! I just ran across your blogs while just searching random things. I have PCOS too and I'm 23..overweight etc...but my doctor never told me about the whole over production of insulin..I actually read it on my own and heard about it from you... I wanted to ask how do they test your insulin? Is it a blood test? Well ima watch all your vids and look fwrd to your future ones!

  • that noise was funny...... lmao i just got my refferal to an endocrinologist approved !!!!!

  • Hey Hun!

I just have to say I know exactly what you afre going through. I would like to make a suggestion. I was taking te Metformin like you are and had a heck of a time with all the side affects but I had my doctor look into it and she found a time released form that takes the side affects completely. Anyway its called Glumetza and they are Huge Blue pills but hey if it works with no side effects then so be it. Keep up the GREAT work and keep posting to keep everyone up dated :)

  • I have an appointment in March, I will make sure I being it up! Thanks

  • I suffer depression and anxiety with very heavy periods, i mean HEAVY hemmoraging. (5 days) Im thin, no excess hair, no diabetes symtoms. Had aunty with problems that sounded like PCOS and another aunt dies of Endo cancer age 50. Is this enough for a Doc to take me seriously? Also, can you have full tests but find that the results are neg even tho you are pcos?

  • doesn't sound like u have pcos sweetie, but whatever is bothering i would talk to a doctor about it and maybe they can help you! Good luck

  • Thanks, hope my doctor listens to me.

    Anyway best wishes to you.

    x

  • Thank you for posting!!

  • Welcomes

  • I think I have it too, but I have a heavy monthly. I hear it can go that way too. I mean monthlys like I started Oct 29th and now it is Dec 26th I am still on the damned period, heavily Sorry to be gross

  • Don't let the males off: they need to know what PCOS is as their partner could have such or someday.

  • video could use llouder sound but i think yiu are doing good tho i have put a 100lbs on in a yearr soo......

im so proudof myself opted for salad over the brownies that were right next to me

  • even if you dont lose weight, you still have a beautiful smile and gorgeous eyes;) wishing you luck! i also have pcos and im on both birth control and metformin. I used to exercise all the time before i was diagnosed pcos and NEVER LOST WEIGHT!! it sucked:P things get better on metfomin, trust me. you should also try belly dancing and jogging, i started losing weight within a week.

  • belly dancing is definitley on my to do list...

  • Thank you for posting this! I just turned 18 in September and I have had a lot of trouble with my menstrual cycle and I have the hair problem as well. I can go 9+ months without a period, and then have it heavily for 2 months straight. I think I should go get tested for PCOS, but my mom keeps telling me I should stop worrying and that it is messed up because I am over weight. The hair is SO EMBARRASSING, I don't know. Anyway, good luck!!

  • i would talk to your ob.gyn and have them do an ultra sound to see if you have any cyst. Good luck!

  • Thanks, I went to the doctor about two weeks after the comment and they told me I have PCOS, and they just called me and told me my tyroid is "lazy." Anyway, keep up your good work!

  • Thats great! I wsh I could lose that! I have been a steady 160 now...I am not budging so FAR haha

  • I hope you will succeed in losing weight, and be able to 'controle' the PCOS. I have a hard time with it, but if I can do it, you can. I lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks. Not a lot but I will get there, just like you.

    Good luck!

  • Sorry that you have worse syptoms than I do. Good luck with everything!

  • minimal facial hair growth? you are only 165lbs?Im 25 yrs old, I was over 340lbs and went down to 275 with diet, exercise, and Metformin I have a period on my own now. After a dilatation and curettage procedure due to endocervical hyperplasia; a pre-cancerous condition for missing my period for a year, painful endometrial biopsy with h/o anemia for a period that lasted 3 months!

  • I also have PCOS and it sucks major! I am recently married and I was diagnosed about 4 yrs now. Until then I had no explanation for my rapid weight gain! I was 110lbs before I got married! and now i am almost 200lbs! I know its horible! But I have a very supportive husband which is my motivation to lose this weight. I am struggling to fight this thing, it won't beat me! I will be the person I was before, and it won't beat you either!

  • I totally feel your pain. Im 23 and have PCOS. I've had it since I was 16 and am now 100 lbs over weight. I've also been doing 2 miles 4 days a week and Im noticing that its not enough. Your blog has helped me with my own motivation and now I know that I need to be working out much more! so thanks!! And good Luck

  • Thanks! All the best

  • if you have pcos visit pcosworldwidesupport. c o m

  • Are blood tests absolutely necessary?

I'd like to get the ultrasound because

I suffer from many of the symptoms

    and needles scare me. >.>

I'm thinking the ultrasound would cost a lot, though.

    o_o

  • I needed the blood test to make sure my thyriod was ok, and to check my insulin levels. I had the ultra sound first though to verify there were cysts.

Your insurance should cover all of this, I only had to pay my co pay

  • i have had pcos since i was 13. my weight went up and down.i eventually became bullemic because i couldnt bare the thought of being overweight. im 30now and over 100 pounds overweight. my doc just prescribed metformin and im on my second week of it and have lost nearly 10 pounds. the best thing i can advise is stick to the 1200 calorie diet. that worked for me in the past and if you by low calorie foods you can actually eat pretty well. it will eventually become a way of life. good luck

  • how do u kno if u have pcos? cuz i have acanthosis nigricans ,but i dont think i have pcos. i dont kno but how do u kno if u have it?

  • just go to the doctor and ask if they can check they do a ultrasound :)

  • what are the common symptoms...i'm scared to be diagnosed with PCOs. I"m 20 years old...and havent had my period for like a year..i'm growin a bit of facil hair on my chin. thanks

  • Dont be scared. its best to know as forewarned is forearmed. Besides, diagnoses can take ages. I suspect I have it but my symptoms are too vague

  • That usually means you have a endocrine problem.

  • Girl I cant beleive you can take all that metformin, you know they gave me 500miligrms and said take 4 pills a day, they made me so sick I just couldnt do it-your a beautiful girl, good luck!just dont be hard on yourself if you slip up on your diet, always remember the positive-and running for an hour would be hard, why not turn on your radio and dance?thats fun!

  • Thats a great idea! I will definately start doing that! thanks!

  • Good luck to you! I understand what you are going through. I have PCOS, I have every symptom except for the extra hair growth. I went from 95lbs to 150lbs in 6 months now I have stretch marks.

  • I am 24 and was diagnosed in 2001, I have been married for 6 years this year and have been TTC for that whole 6 yrs. I am 165 lbs and I am 5'4", so I can sympathize with you :) It sucks, but all we can do is all pull together and find an actual cure!!!!

  • I was diagnosed about a month ago, I'm also trying to lose weight, I'm 22 years old. I've been taking yasmin for about 3 weeks now at first it made me naucious but I feel better now I also lost 5 lbs since I've been taking it, I still don't have all the answers to my questions but hopefully things will get better. Best wishes to you.

  • u should try this. i have done it 2 times and both times it helped me get my cycle. its called the master cleanser!!!!!!!!!!! im also 23 and i also have pcos. it a detoxifier but it helps u lose weight to.

  • hmmm...you've got a sexy deep voice there chicky. i wonder if that's the hormones, because mine is deep as well--not MANLY DEEP, but sexxxxxy deep, LOL!

  • hiya hun

i have pcos was diagnosed in 2005

i hate myself for it feeling like ill never have kids, the hair,no periods for months,im a size 30 a large girl always have been and think that makes me unique but i developed diabetes due to the pcos also so on metformin i got diagnosed with more mental health problems and my whole healthy eating habits went to pot due to it x

  • Just take care of yourself and everything well get better! It's just a bit harder for us :)

  • Thanks for posting this! I'm in the process of being diagnosed for PCOS, too. You're doing great and I know you'll get to your goal.

  • Thanks for the encouragement! Much needed!

  • i have it.. ur really pretty.. good luck.. u can do it. :D

  • Thank you :)

  • i'm 16 and i was just told i have PCOS i dont really understand what is going on with me but i wa put on metaformin aswell and they ARE horse tablets .. after this didnt have much of an effect i wet to a naturopath who jsut gave me more tablets. i have also been very forgetful lately.. is that one of the side effects of metaformin? Good luck .. i understand ur struggle

  • I think that when you forget things it's because of the PCOS not metformin

  • Yeah, I've read that it's due to the over-abundance of insulin. It makes you have a horrible short term memory. I found the artical on soulcysters(dot)com

  • That was in reference to an earlier comment regarding crappy memory, I just posted the reply wrong I guess.

  • I'm 14 years old and i have just been told that i have PCOS. I have been put on the Yasmin pill. My acne has gone, i have lost weight, i have not hirtsutism, have a menstrual cycle [kind of] and feel a lot better. The Yasmin tablets are tiny and i recommend them to anybody.

  • becky i thought about going on that..but im older. :\

  • its suitable for all ages, ask you dr.

  • i too have pcos and it is a struggle to live day to day. i feel ya!

  • Yeah it Sucks :(
