  • Great video. I have done this for several HPs. Can you tell me, do you know if that Mac is still working? Does it get much use?

  • the 2,2 series is UTTER SHIT! apple quality my arse! :(((

  • still going strong

  • HOW LONG YOUR MACBOOK PRO WORKED AFTER YOUR WORK ? Thanks

  • Kid Koala FTW!!!! Sounds like "Your mom's favorite DJ" mixtape :o) ?

  • Right, the fault was probably the same as the fault in the consoles the temperature goes to high, to be fair, well done, but if anyone reading this, remember to use flux, it is very important, and then use a good thermal paste, try mx-4 inexpensive and works a treat.

  • hello,

i did what you show us on video, but new problem i found - no video

keyboard light and sound volume working but never i saw video output

    i click on f1 and f2 - not working

    any idea please????

  • I do the same of you and dont resolves my problem :( when i start up the mbp the screen is divided on 4 parts please help me

  • nice work!

  • I just repaired a 17" MBP i bought for $200 because it was "unrepairable"n using this technique w/ slight variation.. incandescent desk light positioned a half inch from nvidia chip. Works perfectly now!! THANKS!

  • @dvidguyme Interesting variation! Great that it worked!

  • @Semicarbazide HOW LONG YOUR MACBOOK PRO LIVED After your work ? Thanks

  • dude the soundtrack is awesome!!!!!!!

  • WOW! O.O

WOULD YOU FIX MINE?!! No, seriously, how much would you charge?

  • WOW!!!!! I just performed this operation (15 minutes with a regular home hairdryer, 1 layer of thick aluminium wrap) and it worked!!!! Amazing.

Thank you so much - you just saved me 570€...

Does anyone know hoe long this fix will stand?

  • Why use the foil?

  • guauuuu!!! fantastic!!!!!, congatulations from méxico

  • It was fun to fix a mac. Hope it will last. i'v seen from the comments that some lasted like 3 months. i added a fan speed control program to boost the fans a bit. so hope it lasts longer. thanx ! cheers !

  • @sparki313 Glad it worked out for you as well!

That Fan Control is a good idea, you could try SMC Fan Control if it's an older MacBook Pro (not sure if they have any newer versions out). Try running the fans on Full (or as high as you can stand for the noise), just to avoid high temperatures.

    Good luck!

  • Haha. Nice 1 dude! I did this with my iPhone to fiix the wifi. Everyone thought I was nuts until it worked!!! We are few and far between.

  • Just bought a broken Macbook Pro model 1226 on eBay. Bought it for parts to fix my daughter's Mac. Turned out to have the black screen video problem. No screen output, no dvi output. I found this and several other "cooking" videos and decided to give it a try with your selected method.

Five minutes under the heat gun... probably 400 - 500 degrees F!!! That sucker was hot! Put it back together and HOLY CRAP!!! YES IT WORKED!!!

Thank for the post! Fingers crossed that it lasts! Ross

  • Well done! I did something like that but without a heat gun (see my video). :)

Unfortunately it kept working for less than two months (of full time work). After that I repeated the procedure once, it started working again for a few days, then the same problem again, so I gave up. The first time is fun, the second is a chore, please not a third time!

  • Thank you i solved my problem! :-)

  • Great video... did what u did and Bingo... Thanks for sharing

  • Thanks bro!

  • damnnn this was beast... i wouldnt have the balls to take my macbook apart even if it was broken already...

  • Wooo posting from my fixed MBP!!!

  • I did this after I saw ya video, i didnt do all the steps though, I heated up the graphics chip for a min or two and let it cool off, reinstalled and working great...only now my fans run on high rpm now while its on for some reason..weird..but ill see whats up with that

  • hahah great video, music was on point! My mbp just started doing this 2days ago! ill probably attempt this over the weekend as Ill have allday to mess with it. Is it still working?

  • @Snubby54 Thanks for noticing the music timing :-D

It lasted just over 3 months, but I haven't tried fixing it again yet...

  • I dropped my macbook. Now just the chime & blank, white screen. Doesn't work w/ external monitor either. Could something in the logic board have broken loose?

  • 7:31 lol

  • just tried this with a 1000w heat gun think i fried my chip i heated for 10 mins... after doing this to my machine i then looked at the xbox 360 ring of death vids they do a similar thing but for 30 seconds lol my macbook wont start up at all now whoops! no light on the front

  • Hey I just did this to my macbook too...thanks for that...seems to be working great...but My Isight camera isn't being recoginzed now.. neway... Just wondering if yours is still running properly or not...if not...how long did it take before it went screwy again.. again Cheers...so far you saved me 700 euros to replace the Logic board... well technically 680... I had to buy a heat gun lol

  • @OddmanOutcy Great to hear it worked for you too! As for the iSight, maybe it's connection wasn't reattached fully after you did the work (not sure how it attaches, just a though).

The computer lasted 3 months of normal use until it happened again, but I did not do a good enough job of keeping the heat down, so naturally it sort of "de-flowed" itself and the same problem happened again.

  • I had exactly the same problems with my old macbook pro (2.16 Intel Core Duo). I also went out to get a new one and then tried to repair the old one using exactly the same technique... and wham, it bursted back to life!

Funny thing is, when I fired it up it for the first time it also booted to a black screen with no dong, only when I put in the aftermarket RAM in the top slot it booted - exactly the same.

    Anyways, thanks a million!

  • @WimVoets That's really cool to hear! Glad it worked, and even more interesting how it played out in basically the exact same way!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • You're supposed to heat the whole board besides plastic pieces to make sure it expands and contracts the wires evenly... I'm sure you noticed the board was melted so you're lucky didn't mess it up worse... not to mention not grounding yourself... but what do I know... I just fix computers for a living

  • @black07z51 BTW those fumes will set off a smoke/carbon monoxide detector... highly cancerous fumes are released

  • @black07z51 So would you not cover the board with anything before heating?

  • I hope you didn't eat the eggs in the background from 1:45 on, but if you did... get well soon.

  • I found your video after I went to a xbox 360 repair store where the guy told me he can fix my macbook using reflow. I had never heard of the term so I looked it up and found your video. Now that I see it's possible, I might take it in because right now in it's state it's out of warranty and pretty much useless. Thanks a bunch. Any other info available out this type of logicboard repair?

  • woow

    nice!

    r u an engineeer??

  • thanks mate, you've resolved my problems, now my macbook pro works!!!!!!!!!

  • @kevandlucy

    Kid Koala

  • big ap!

  • Dude i love you (not fagottry, just love from another macookpro 15 user with the same issue) this is so amazing, less than 20 bucks and some free time can go a long way.

  • @edfuentesg

Hope it worked out well for you, then! :)

  • Tkx for this video

  • cool will bookmak this just in case this happens to my macbook pro 2.33 2006

  • apple tech support was obviously wrong, they jsut wanted to get more 4 from you, it was jsut overheating, then you rigged some better cooling and shabam!

  • but macs are soooo goooood and reliable! lol you nevr hear about mac problems but theyre there jsut as much as pc

  • SIMPLY AWESOME!!

You are a modern day Mcguyver/ genius.

I wouldnt never think none of this would be possible home!

    I am very impessed!!!

  • @biggareid

    Thanks! :)
