  • yall are both fuckin stupid you both need lives

    -goofy

  • My man goes ham on the harmonica.

  • based on some of the comments posted... I'm going to assume the wizard of oz theme blew right over your heads.... "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

  • People say we have grown more shallow... But just look how we used to hide the fat guy who's really singing in this video in the back.

  • I love this group. I wish they made more music.

  • feel good song

  • Oh, the 90's.. Why did you have to go?

  • 44 people will always get the run around!

  • Sad when we live in a world where a fat person can't be seen in a music video. It's music. It's not fashion or some sort of beauty pageant. But that's what pop music is these days. It's a beauty pageant, and if you don't look like a model, you're "ugly", and your music better be damn good, or they won't want you.

  • @Pulseczar1 That's what the music video is trying to show. They put the "pretty" boys on stage and have them "play", while they play the real music in the back.

  • great vidio great music

  • this song makes me smile...

  • I love this song and I love this band. I remember when this video came out and telling my friends that the girl playing Dorothy was cute and why does the singer of the fake band look like Eddie Vedder/Kurt Cobain mix? Oh man the days of innocence hahaha.

  • speaking of 90s music: the gin blossoms. hey jealousy, yeah!

  • Down With Down With Webster (re:previd ad)

  • Why in hell did I just have to watch an ad for Pitbull to get to Blues traveler?!?!?

  • @gordonmck024 i thought the same about it.

  • Hello Everyone!

It’s Music that’s keeping me alive.

My life is so difficult and the only thing to forget my problems is the Music.

All of you will think I’m crazy but you’re wrong

Because singing and writing I can be who really I am.

I’m so grateful because now I can smile, dreaming, screaming. (And I owe it all to music and to god)

Well, I made some covers and I just upload it to my channel and I’ll be grateful if you stop by my channel and check it out.

    Thank you so much!!

  • @Anlimema This is actually a pretty depressing SONG. hes in love with a woman but it goes sour. This song might be catchy but if youve ever been DUMPED in a long term relationship, then you might actually find this song rather familiar. Glad it makes you happy thou as when I hear this song I think of Brandy an EX that i fucked up with. Except I was the one giving the RUN around. Now I wish I treated her better and handled things more maturely. Love makes time pass and TIME makes love pass

  • @Anlimema Big Ups! Keep it alive!

  • hey i can play the harp kind of like popper check it out johnepelk u tube/

  • Fuck Vevo.

  • Does anyone know who the stand-in band playing on stage in the video is, or who the members are? The lead looks a lot like Alan Doyle from Great Big Sea.

  • i miss blues travelers

  • John popper was so ashamed of his weight that he hired a stand-in for this song.

  • @YourDogIsDeadHAHA

did u even watch the video man?

  • @YourDogIsDeadHAHA I think you missed the point of the video. It's a metaphor. The Great and Powerful Oz, hiding behind his curtain, while his false idol wow's the crowd. Hence Dorothy and the gang spending the entire video dropping hints for you to pick up on.

  • @khominian thank you for pointing that out, i guess some people just dont get it

  • spun

  • how does this not have one million views?

  • One of my Favorite songs!! & weezer Island in the sun

  • All these years and people still have to have this video explained to them lol Jeez kids are stupid these days

  • Takes me back to high school!

  • the 90s. rock music's last stand

  • @gregoryweissman Hey now, the Foo Fighters are still playin.

  • @gregoryweissman Rock's last stand? LOL.... listen to bands like Airbourne that still play amazing classic rock.

  • @gregoryweissman very true I like the way you phrased that.

  • @NostalgicTimeMan yes,as for "penis Brain"....no hope,must like Gagg Gagg Lady. we know what's good&what's right(or left).

  • @gregoryweissman you speak the truth

  • I remember they played this on MTV the whole summer of 1995

  • Christ the singer is sexy

  • @MemphisExorcism have u just came across this? the singer is actually the heavyset guy who plays the harmonica...

  • @celestialgodess1 Haha yeah i know who the singer is doesnt make him any less sexy and Ive been listening to these guys for years

  • goddamn if i dont love 90's music

  • I need a time machine! Guess this will just have to do!

  • Who else watched this expecting the song from digimon?

  • This was a great song, still is. Is that Sofia Vergara??

  • another classic.

  • It's the fat guy. If I were John Popper i would have been furious with this video

  • @immaraperchef @TheKHUE Lol you two guys are obviously mentally retarded and kinda missed the point of the video lol

  • i have to do a cover of this song for Music class. Wish me luck :D. By the way, is the skinny or the fat guy the singer?

  • this song is so perfect...born in '94 and my god what my generation has turned to is simply ridiculous. we need more of this i tell ya

  • 0:00

  • Who cares about arcade fire, this song is the shit

  • @alexb824 typically whenever i see that i always remark "no -blank- is a piece of shit!"

bit it just doesnt work with this song...

  • @alexb824 Am I the only one who has no idea who Arcade Fire is? lol

  • @alexb824 have you actually ever listened to them?

  • @alexb824 totally man

  • Guys there is no point to fight over which type of music is the better!!

No matter the genre, decade, etc.

Whether it's a symphonic classic like Beethoven, a turbo-charged pop tune like LMFAO, a rocking experience like AC/DC, or even an optimistic colorful song like The Wiggles!

Music is to bring people together, and competition destroys the spirit.

  • @turbofreak200 Dude seriously this is the biggest crock of shit I've read on Youtube.

  • @meglaw69 Hey! That was a well-thought out comment! Keep your mouth shut...

  • @meglaw69 Why? I need a reason and I may believe you.

  • @turbofreak200 Well first of all competition does not destroy the spirit. Often times competition brings the best in people. Example. When John lennon and Paul Mccartney wrote songs they competed with each other to write the best song. This compitition gave us some of the best music of all time. Also there is some music that is better than others The idea that all music is good is just not true. There is nothing wrong with having a discriminating taste in music. We don't have to like everything.

  • @meglaw69 I know everything.

    I know everything.

    I know everything.

  • @meglaw69 Actually I only typed that comment up so I could get a bunch of thumbs-ups for Top Rated Comment

  • Dorothy is soooo hot!!!!

  • I WAS BORN IN 1989 and Im barely a 90s kid. You have to be born in the early to mid-1980s.

    BY 1999 I was 10..so I kinda count.

  • 2:10 does he does "The day she Farted?"

  • absolutely love it.

  • less then 1 million. im 14 and i dont believe that

  • Is that the girl that used to be in Nickelodeon's Welcome Freshmen?

  • i used to wet the bed a lot until this song came out. F*ck Yeah!

  • EST. 1992

  • EST. 1990

  • Est.92

  • Does anyone else think the "singer" on stage is mocking Adam Duritz from Counting Crows in the Mr. Jones video?

  • @midnight80090 I thought that too.

  • @midnight80090 Yes I think it was intentional

  • @meglaw69 Yea I think it was too. But I don't know if they were trying to make fun of Adam or not

  • @midnight80090 No I don't think they were making fun of Adam I think the point of the video is that Blues Traveler does not have the right "look" So they play the music and remain behind the curtain while a youthfull hipper looking band stay out front. Counting Crows were very much the "in" band of the time when this video came out.

  • @midnight80090 Yes very much so.

  • @midnight80090 very much think that.. and almot feel like the guy in the red striped sweter is mocking kurt cobain..

  • @midnight80090 They are mocking the entire music industry. If you don't have a certain look it doesn't matter how talented you are. How many talented people out there do you think get overlooked because they look a certain way, meanwhile Miley Cyrus gets her own tv show.

  • @midnight80090 i thought the same thing not that long ago

  • @midnight80090 I would disagree with the term mock, It's probably a Homage, you know, with respect.

  • @midnight80090 They were probably making fun of their live act, which sucks ass.

  • does anyone realize that this isnt blues traveler...the people in the video anyway

  • great sound! if you like this vibe check out "emergency service band" - "freight train"

  • What's the Girls Name? She's Gorgeous..!!

  • @dirtyforehead dude in this video doesn't have dreads, and Adam's are extensions.

  • My boyfriend just forced me to have anal sex to this song. He's a big guy.

  • @danamcwonderful That's called rape.

  • RIP, Ken Ober.

He's the nervous manager guarding the curtain where the real band is playing.

Ober was the host of a pretty funny game show on MTV back in the 80's/90's This video was intended as a commentary on the glamorization of rock over substance that his former employers hand a large hand in furthering.

    Smart guy. Died too young.

  • For anyone who loves acts like Blues Traveler, DMB, Counting Crows, MB20, Train etc and would like some new 90s style music please visit my band Red Dust Road at reddustroad doht com and you can download our 6 track EP for FREE or just click the username below. • RIP Ken

  • It's a great song and a great band but I don't get why people have to put down other music to make this music seem better. Some of the new stuff is good to. I believe it's important to appreciate good music no matter what year it was made.

  • love 90's music pearljam,nirvana,ginblossoms, toadies,melvins,screaming trees,soundgarden,butthole surfers,alice in chains,tad,L7,green river,smashing pumpkins etc etc

  • imagine if the title of the song was "Reach Around" O_O

  • @invicta: Yes, absolutely. When this came out, it was fun. Fun to watch, fun to listen to. Fun to get the parody. Just fun for a break too when you wanted a blue sky for a change. I love Vedder, Pearl Jam and the 90's. I love all the melancholy music that came out of that decade. But sometimes you needed to break away, if only in silence and you did it alone by yourself. Because you needed to. You couldn't suffer along with the grunge solely because if you did you might not get up again.

  • is it me or just there are trying to make it seem like john popper didn't sing this song????????

  • @hereitis69 The point of the vide is that Blues travler did not neccasarily fit the "look" at the time. So instead they had a kind of grunge looking band.

  • @hereitis69 nah, they show him playing backstage. like that other person said it's partly them acknowledging (and even celebrating) that john popper particularly didn't fit the mold of a 90's frontman. but it's also part of the Wizard of Oz theme, with the "cool" looking band being fake and the actual guy doing the singing being a disappointingly normal guy.

  • @SonOfGoForkYourself Yes that is exactly what the video is all about.I'm just surprised that you have to actually explain it to someone.

  • I remember when the lead singer performed on an episode of Rosanne...it was awesome!!!

  • I loved grunge just as much as anyone in the 90's. But (and feel free to tell me if I'm alone here), did Blues Traveler seem to anyone else like a breath of fresh air after 4 or 5 years of listening to the depressing, mumbling, "ironic" stuff getting all the airplay when this debuted? I swear, I remember thinking when I heard this at 15 years old "Thank GOD...music is still allowed to be FUN. There's hope after all...and it's Canadian."

  • @invicta1313 I do agree to some extent. I liked some grunge music I certainly liked a lot of Pearl Jams music. But I do think that "Grunge" in itself was like a breath of fresh air when compared to the overproduced fluff from the 80s. But I also think grunge paved the way for a more organic rock sound such as Blues Traveler Counting Crows etc. Unfortunately the trend now is back to the overproduced fluff.

  • @invicta1313 I generally agree with you though I just wanted to add that Blues Traveler was formed in New Jersey, unless I'm misunderstanding you. :)

  • You all talkin about music being better back then and the music now being crap. stfu. There are good artists today you haven't heard because you are ignorant and choose not to listen.

  • This song came out when i was in kindergarten and we used to sing this on the bus for field trips....I miss the 90's

  • wish they would've shown him more than the fake band

  • Am I the only one who thinks Dorothy is hot as hell? I sure would love to know who she is...

  • I enjoyed woodstock 94

  • i was 18 back in 93' \\m//

  • Thumbs up if your a 90's kid! Est.1991

  • @clownstomp Est. 1995

  • @clownstomp Est. 1996

  • @clownstomp Anyone above 93 is not a 90s kid

  • @clownstomp Real 90's kids were born in the 80's... stop posing you 1991+ babies...

  • @BizzMarki Im pretty sure i remember being a kid in the 90s though. since i was born in 1990

  • @clownstomp Born 09/01/91 :).

  • I never knew Obama used to be a bouncer...

  • I send this song out to my Ex-fiance who used to sing this song with and to me all the time, He has always stayed in my thoughts, Please get well John, Michele.

  • The skinny guy jumping around with the mic is NOT John Popper...apparently it wasn't cool to be fat then either...messed up

  • @MrEljiah No, the skinny guy jumping around with the mic is NOT John Popper. It's an allusion to the Wizard of Oz, like the rest of the video. The "real" band is behind the curtain performing, with the visible "band" lip-syncing just for show, like when the Wizard of Oz was behind a curtain pulling levers to manipulate an awesome, but phony, apparition. In both the movie and this video, Dorothy and her friends uncover the truth. It's a cool and fun allusion.

  • @videoinformer video informer...you truly live up to your name

  • I love this band. Counting Crows Rock!!!

  • @dirtyforehead I agree I too enjoy Counting Crows but this is Blues Traveler. You do know that right ? Or are you being sarcastic?

  • @lob287 You got trolled haha. Trollololol

  • @lob287 Idk if I'd call it sarcasm. I suppose. I was hoping someone else would notice what I did without me pointing it out but it's too good to leave up in the air. If you watch the music video for the song by Counting Crows called Mr. Jones. The lead singer dances almost exactly like the "fake" in this video(and he has dreads just like this guy as I'm sure you know concidering you like the band too). I thought it was him but at the end there is a SLIGHT glimbs of the guys face.
