i hate larry. he isnt even a good boxer who does he think he is doin that to Ali an why would u want to. i would love to see him try that pish in Alis prime. unessasery!! wonder how old larry felt when he fought tyson,hu!
When Holmes was destroying Ali, all in a sudden it turns to review the great moments of Ali's career...so obviously indicating Ali was no more fast and pretty by being tortured by the Parkinson both physically and mentally.
Larry Holmes, indeed a decent and formidable boxer, but far too little comparing with "PRIME ALI"
just goes to show, all great things(including the greatest) must come to an end.. but Ali doesn't want you to feel bad for him, he said so himself. if you ask me he'll always be the champ and he'll always be the greatest boxer that ever lived
I Love Muhammad Ali! Sad to see him old and a shadow of his former self! I really believe that Ali in his prime could have beaten ANY boxer.....i really do!!!!!
@jorgeiramain Well said!! I also think Tyson would have knocked out Larry in his prime...people say Larry was underrated but i think he was overrated...Larry`s not even in my top 5
muhammad ali fought the best generation of heavyweights we've seen, he cleaned out the division twice and won most of his great fights, foreman, frazier, norton, shavers, years past his prime.
he was a lightning fast extremely resilient heavyweight who was also amazingly brave.
and outside the ring he conveyed these traits to the general public to become an entertainer, a civil rights leader and an inspiration to people of every race.
he was and is the greatest heavyweight of all time
Respectfully done. I don't like to remember Ali getting beaten by Holmes and round 7 of that fight Ali almost won. But when I think of Ali I cant help but remember those beatings he did received. But he took it like a man.
Nah, not really. I'm a huge Ali fan and not as big a fan of Larry, but despite Holmes' faults he's a decent guy and he was very different than Ali. He had a similar style, but he had that even before he became Ali's main sparring partner. And no one can say that Holmes' style of dealing with media, questions, fame or reports is ANYTHING like Ali's.
Both great fighters, no matter how sad it is watching Holmes beat on Ali.
I doubt that. Holmes only got KO'd once, by Tyson, in a fight where Holmes almost looked as over the hill as Ali did against him. (Of course, Holmes would trin and fight better after that).
If they met prime against prime, Ali would probably use his greater hand and foot speed to win, but I'm pretty much certain it would go the distance and be somewhat close. Maybe 9 rounds to 6.
The fight with Holmes was his actually his next to last. Although not well known, Ali actually had one more fight after that, little more than a 10 round sparring session with Trevor Berbick.
He actually did better in that fight than he did against Holmes, (thanks to not being on incorrect meds that a quack doctor gave him) but it convinced Ali that he really was done.
the curtain will never be closed on muhammad ali. i dont care how many times evander won or how many knockouts tyson got , Ali will always be the champ and the greatest.
Never seen Seven Pounds, but I know this song comes from Shawshank Redemption. They might have reused it in the other, or if it was the same conductor it might be a similar tune.
im only 23 years old so i havent actually lived through all of the defining moments of Ali's life, but i know everything there is to know about muhammad.
ps. thanks for this video, its probably the best video ive ever seen of muhammads awsome career
all the videos i see are all the same lame old shit with different music clips added to it its rediculous
Not only did he lose his last fights... of course cause of aged...but he lost to one of the very same fighters he helped mold..his old sparring partner..while training for foremen fight.... in Larry "the eastern assassin" Holmes
u know, it saddens me when ever i see ali the way he lost his last fight. Absolutly great fighter, great man, great human being. Ther r very few people in my life i wished stayed forever young. Ali is one of them. On the other side, I am happy that he still give people so much encouragement and will as if telling ppl, GUYS, THIS IS LIFE AND THIS IS HOW U LIVE IT. WITH COURAGE AND GRACE.
Uncjim, they broke the mold when they made Ali. There absolutely will not ever be another like him.
Thanks for the kind words about the video, it's much appreciated. I figure if I'm getting the approval of those who were there for it all, I must be doing something right. ;)
It definitely is, Kawanseshine, and that's part of why I had to make sure to throw in bits highlighting his defense and movement. One of my favorite things to see with fast boxers is the way they can move and control the ring with it, and not many master that art like Ali did.
He is the greatest boxer to walk this planet and I would not be suprised if we never see a better one. Ali hard to see a legend a great in a bad way.
