Rescue a Chihuahua

I adopted my 6 week old chihuahua from some friends of the family.You would have never BELIEVED how many dogs they had! They had anywhere from Chihuahuas to Boxers! It was so insane, and their dogs were wild, lived outside, and were infested with fleas. The only ones who were loved and cared for were the chihuahuas. The father of my dog was pretty much the only calm dog they owned! When I first saw my dog, she was shaking and crying, when we got home and she met my other dogs, she was so happy!

My first chihuahua was. Adopted by a shelter not far from my home. Unfortunately he passed away of cancer. I now adopted a chiwini and a chihuahua terrier. They're a little older but I don't care I love them.. The shelter used to euthinize mane years ago bit noonger do.

My wife and I have a rescue chihuahua here in Australia. We pleaded with the pound to hold off euthanising him for one day so we could adopt the little guy. In our eyes, he is the best dog in the world.

I have a Chihuahua named Miley, I brought her over the internet (It wasn't a puppy mill or anything I went to the breeders house) I could never do anything to hurt her and I think that people who do hurt helpless animals are sick. I had no about about puppy mills or anything till I watched this video. Next time I get a Chihuahua I will go to a shelter. Thank you BestFriendsVideos for posting this!

did you guys know there's a book called "Chihuahuas for Dummies". it explains how to choose the ideal Chihuahua, how to prepare your home for the new arrival, how to manage the puppys nutrition and health, how to prevent common behavior problems, how to teach your Chihuahua fun tricks etc

Thank you so much for trying to educate the public on the perils of dogs in puppy mills. Our country needs to ban these. Breeders should have to have license and have to maintain very strict standards. People who mistreat animals need much more severe punishment than our government gives them.

This video, is really persuasive. Say, if we humans, had to live in cages with barely anything, maybe even nothing in it, how would we feel? These chihuahuas, not only chihuahuas, all animals, have every right and deserve to live just like us.

I meant to say vets find MICRO teacup chihuahuas difficult to treat and operate on. Micros are known to develop organ failure suddenly and die, because their organs don't fit into thier tiny bodies. Standard size chihuahuas are fantastic, there's many that would love to be adopted. Please, don't make a sweet loveable creature (dogs) into a fashion accesory where tinier is better and a status symbol. If you really love dogs and chihuahuas, size should not matter because they all have big hearts.

It's true. These dogs are being bred to meet human's satisfaction for tininess. They have many health problems and vets find very small dogs more difficult to treat. If you want a great chi go to your local rescue league or animal shelter. That's where I got my standard size chi and its one of the best decisions I made in my life. Rescue a dog and don't contribute to the problem of dog overpopulation and euthanization by buying from a petstore or breeder.

Why do you want a miniature (tea cup) Chihuahua? All Chihuahuas are tiny, but miniature/teacup chihuahua are unnaturally breed to be extra tiny and tend to have many health problems. Adopt a standard Chihuahua. They are tiny doggies no matter what and they can fit in some purses. I know first hand from my sister's chihuahua....She got him from a pet store and he almost died because he was so sick. He is 12 now and still has health problems. And not just from age!

Thank God this message is being sent out. When I was 15 I started working at a puppy store and can't even begin to tell you the nightmares.Pet stores could give 2 shits about their puppies.The only time they ever showed they care was when a customer would want to buy one.This is how i got my chihuahua.Vets told my boss she had 4 weeks to live.Solution throw her in her in a crate and ship her back to her breeder for a refund! I took her and told my boss she had died. My chihuahua is 6 years old!

I wish people would realize that dogs in pet shops are not "special" and are often sick.

I have adopted three purebred dogs so far, and they were all unwanted. I always, always, always tell people my dog was from a shelter; some people might "get it" eventually. Even breeders who treat their puppies like little princes and princesses are a problem because they add to pet overpopulation.

As the director of a Chihuahua rescue group I am VERY happy to see this. I just wish it could be shown BEFORE the movie. The little blurb at the end of the movie helps but it needs to be shown FIRST. I wish this PSA would be shown before every theater showing of the movie and I wish it could preceed the movie in every DVD copy ultimately produced. This movie could lead to Chi's being rescued in droves from shelters and rescue groups if people only knew how very many of them already need a home.
